Abstract

Kata kunci: air bekas tambang, teknologi tepat guna, pemberdayaan masyarakat, keberlanjutan, Kelurahan Jahab Abstract This community service activity aims to improve access to safe drinking water for the Jahab neighborhood community through the implementation of ex-mining void water treatment technology based on laboratory characterization. The method used is Participatory Action Research, integrating technical mentoring, operational training, and Village-Owned Enterprise (BUMDes) institutional strengthening. The developed technology combines tower aeration, multi-stage filtration (sand–gravel–silica–ion exchange resin), and UV disinfection to address organic and microbial contaminants without forming carcinogenic by-products. Laboratory results confirmed that the treated water meets all parameters of Minister of Health Regulation No. 2/2023, including total coliform reduction from 1,240 to <20 MPN/100 mL. Surveys revealed that 80% of households are willing to pay Rp50,000–100,000/month for guaranteed water access, and the BUMDes committed to sustainable management. This activity contributes to SDG 6 and 3 through a participatory, evidence-based, and replicable approach for other post-mining areas.  Keywords: ex-mining water, appropriate technology, community empowerment, sustainability, Jahab neighborhood
