Abstract

The existence of Sebangau National Park in Central Kalimantan is a government effort to save and protect ecosystems that have started to deteriorate in the Sebagau area due to logging, poaching, and forest burning for land clearing conducted illegally by the community. In addition to these problems, the existence of Sebangau National Park is also to minimize the impact caused by global warming in the form of high air temperatures, which can trigger forest and peatland fires which occur almost every year in Palangka Raya City. Forest fires can damage ecosystems, releasing carbon and greenhouse gases into the atmosphere so that they can pollute water, soil and air. In addition, the smoke produced can also interfere with public health. The involvement of Pentahelix actors in the management of the Sebangau National Park tourism destination in Palangka Raya City is to make tourism at this destination sustainable. This research is designed as qualitative research supported by quantitative data, often referred to as a mixed method. Data collection was conducted through observation, semi-structured interviews, document studies, and questionnaires. The analysis method used in this study is Interpretative Structural Modeling (ISM) to map the role of Pentahelix with three elements consisting of: actor elements, need elements, and constraint elements. The ISM analysis results identified the main actors in the management of the Sebangau National Park tourism destination in Palangka Raya City as the Sebangau National Park Office in Palangka Raya City (government) and the Getek Maju Mandiri Group (community). The primary need in management is the Pentahelix collaboration and sustainable ecotourism. The main constraints in management are the incomplete availability of facilities and infrastructure and the lack of coordination between the government, private sector, and community.

Abstract

Fritjof Capra is a modern physicist who proposed the ideas about the problem solving of the destruction of natural resources and the widespread occurrence of environmental pollution by humans. This Capra's ideas generated ecoliteracy which now exists in the mangrove forest ecotourism of the Kedonganan Traditional Village as a solution to protecting nature. The holistic systemic theory proposed by Fritjof Capra is in line with the Tri Hita Karana philosophy which represents the harmonious relationship between humans and God, humans and humans and humans natural.

Abstract

Abstract This study explores how the culture of the Dayak people of Central Kalimantan is represented in TikTok videos produced by local creators, and how this platform functions as a medium for culture-based tourism communication. The study employs a descriptive qualitative approach and visual semiotics analysis, examining five TikTok videos that feature cultural symbols such as longhouses, traditional clothing, traditional dances, and sape music. The analysis reveals that the visual representations in these videos reflect a dynamic, participatory, and community-based construction of cultural identity. TikTok, as a visually-driven platform with popularity algorithms, enables local culture to be presented in an aesthetic, emotional, and contextual manner, reaching a broad audience across regions and generations. Presentation styles ranging from cinematic, documentary, to contemplative provide diverse narrative dimensions to cultural symbols, enriching the audience's experience. Tourism communication theory (Kotler et al., 2010) emphasizes the importance of destination branding and communication of attributes, both tangible and intangible. TikTok has proven to be an effective medium in shaping audience perceptions of local culture and tourism potential. Based on Stuart Hall's representation theory and Nicholas Mirzoeff and Malcolm Barnard's visual culture theory, this study shows that social media not only facilitates the dissemination of culture but also serves as an active space for the formation of meaning, identity, and the image of tourist destinations. TikTok can be positioned as a strategic tool in tourism communication based on local wisdom, with its visual strength and user participation as key elements in supporting cultural preservation and enhancing the sustainable appeal of destinations.
