Abstract

Nowdays with various kinds of needs and demands in life that must be met at any time can cause stress of someone. Medical students are often experience high level of stress due to the demands of high education standards requirements. Continous chronic stress can affect eating behaviour lead to the potential cause of eating disorder syndrome (EDS). This study aimed to evaluate the correlation between stress level and EDS in preclinical medical students of Nusa Cendana University, Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara. It was an analytic observational with a cross sectional design conducting on the preclinical medical students by filling out depression anxiety stress Scale (DASS-42) and eating attitude test (EAT-26) questionnaires. Respondents were selected by the probability sampling method with a stratifies random sampling technique. A total 141 respondents who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria were recruited. Bivariate analysis by using the Wilcoxon Theta correlation test was performed. Among respondents involved in this study, 13 (9.2%) respondents did not experience stress and 128 (90.8%) experienced stress including 43 (30.5%) mild stress, 68 (48.3%) moderate stress, and 17 (12.3%) severe stress. The EDS was observed in 15 (10.6%) respondents. A significant moderate correlation between stress level and EDS was indicated (θ = 0.58). In conclusion, there is correlation between stress level and EDS on preclinical medical students of Nusa Cendana University, Kupang.

Abstract

Penelitian mengenai “Hubungan Dukungan Keluarga dengan Tingkat Kekambuhan Penderita Gangguan Skizofrenia di RSJ Naimata Kupang”, telah dilakukan mulai bulan Juni sampai dengan Juli 2018.penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara dukungan keluarga dengan tingkat kekambuhan penderita gangguan skizofrenia yang berkunjung di RSJ Naimata Kupang. Jenis penelitian ini adalah observasional analitik dengan pendekatan Cross Sectional. Sampel di ambil dengan menggunakan teknik accidental sampling dan didapatkan 43 responden. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan berupa kuisioner dukungan keluarga dan tingkat kekambuhan. Analisa data penelitian ini menggunakan uji statistik spearman. Hasil analisis menunjukan perbedaan yang signifikan dengan nilai p=0,04 (p<0,05) yang berarti ada hubungan antara dukungan keluarga dengan tingkat kekambuhan penderita gangguan skizofrenia di RSJ Naimata Kupang

Abstract

Background : Physical changes are certain things that will be faced when individuals reach adolescence. This phase causes feelings from fear, shame, anxiety, to psychological stress, especially in adolescent girls when they first face menstruation. Adolescent knowledge related to these physical changes is thought to affect the stress level of adolescents. Objective : To determine the relationship between knowledge about physical changes during puberty and the stress level of adolescent girls at SMP Negeri 10 Kupang. Methods : An observational analytic study with a cross sectional design involving 108 respondents which was carried out at SMP Negeri 10 Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara in August 2022. The research data was obtained through a Questionnaire Level of Knowledge of Physical Changes and DASS 42. Results : From 108 respondents, it was found that 50% of respondents had suffiicient knowledge about physical changes during puberty and 50,9% of respondents did not experience stress. The results of the analysis showed that there was a relationship between the level of knowledge about physical changes during puberty and stress levels (p < 0,02). Conclusion : There is a relationship between the level of knowledge about physical changes during puberty with stress levels.
