Abstract

The behavior of nurses in giving drugs to patients must be in accordance with Standard Operational Procedures (SPO) so that patients are safe from drug-administration errors. There is still a lack of knowledge of nurses about the 12 correct principles of giving drugs to patients, not double checking with other nurses when giving drugs and there are still nurses who do not wait for patients to take their drugs and leave drugs on the patient's table. This study aims to identify the compliance of nurses in implementing the 12 correct principles of drug administration. This research design uses a descriptive study. The number of samples was 40 implementing nurses who were selected using simple random sampling. The measuring instrument used is a knowledge and compliance questionnaire of nurses about the twelve correct principles of drug administration. Data were analyzed using Descriptive Statistical Proportion Percentage Analysis (ASDPP). The results showed that most of the more than 50% (65%) of the respondents had an obedient attitude. Nurses more often do double checks before giving drugs. The Head of the Division of Nursing can provide updates on the 12 correct principles of drug administration.

Abstract

Communication in health services must be easy to understand because it is related to the nature and behavior of different health workers involved in nursing care, so that staff, nurses and doctors must understand how communication can be applied in all situations. The phenomenon at the research site as a result of interviews found that communication is still lacking effective both among nurses and other health teams. This research aims to analyze the factors that influence effective communication regarding SBAR consideration. The research design used descriptive analysis with a population of executive nurses in inpatient rooms at private hospitals in Surabaya who fulfil the inclusion criteria. Sample collection used simple random sampling with a sample size of 41 respondents. Data were collected using the SBAR communication effectiveness and acceptance questionnaire which is valid and reliable. After the data was collected, a simple regression test was carried out and the results obtained were that the majority (85%) of respondents carried out effective communication and acceptance. The factors related to effective communication regarding SBAR acceptance in this research are motivation and leadership. Effective communication in SBAR consideration is very important to continue to be improved so that the nursing department of the private hospital at the research site can continue to motivate the implementing nurse and manager of unit to support each other in the application of effective communication in SBAR consideration.

Abstract

Objective: Mental health is one of the important aspects in a person's life because it has a major influence on the biological, cognitive and social emotional of the individual. Well-being is something that is sought after by individuals, including mothers. In the family, mothers as housekeepers have a dominant function in a family. Even now, mothers not only take care of domestic activities, but some mothers also help their husbands increase family income. This will have an impact on the mental well-being of housewives. Methods: This study used a descriptive design with total sampling with 40 mothers as respondents. Data collection uses the Mental Health Continuum (MHC-LF) questionnaire which has been validated and reliable.. Results: The research results showed that more than 50% (55%) of mothers had high mental well-being. Conclusion: The research results still show that housewives who have low mental well-being, so it is important to develop a program to improve the welfare of housewives by collaborating with local health centers to provide education on the importance of mental health and tips for mental well-being for housewives who still have low mental well-being.

Abstract

Life expectancy of Indonesian elderly has increased recently due to the success of development in various fields, especially Health. Most elderly people has experiencing or at risk of malnutrition. Malnutrition is characterized by weight loss including loss of skeletal muscle mass and has a negative impact on muscle strength. This Community Service aim is to increase the knowledge of the elderly about balanced nutrition. Health Education is carried out through counseling, Q&A, and demonstration media. The results of the nutritional status examination were most of the elderly group of Corps 4 Surabaya, namely 18 elderly (89%) have normal nutritional status, 2 elderly (11%) are at risk of malnutrition. After providing the material, most of the elderly (94%) understand what is being conveyed. The use of appropriate health education media is expected to increase the target of education knowledge, especially malnutrition. This education is ultimately expected to change a positive behaviour Health. Normal nutritional status can reduce mortality rates, reduce chronic diseases, increase mental and cognitive abilities, depression conditions, psychological health, independence, balance of bone and muscle strength and quality of life in the elderly.
