Abstract

Background: Aging can lead to degeneration processes in multiple organs, including the auditory organs, resulting in hearing loss. Hearing loss in the elderly often affects their quality of life (QOL). One of the procedures to improve this could be done by fitting hearing aids (HA). According to the National Center of Health Statistics (NCHS) data, hearing loss in people over 65 years old is 26.8%. However, only 14.4% use hearing aids. Purpose: To find out the correlation between the use of hearing aids and the quality of life of the elderly. Literature review: This was a systematic review with an observational study approach. Data analysis was performed using Review Manager software. QOL was assessed with the Hearing Handicap Inventory for Elderly (HHIE) questionnaire. Afterwards, comparing between the elderly who used HA and those who did not use HA. Results: The literature identified from the medical database reached 728 features, but only 4 met the criteria. From the research results, it was found that there was a statistically significant difference in HHIE scores between elderly people who used and did not use hearing aids. In social HHIE p=0.03 (p<0.05), emotional HHIE p=0.02 (p<0.05), and total HHIE p=0.006 (p<0.05). Total HHIE, a combination of social and emotional HHIE, described the overall quality of life. Conclusion: Hearing aids were considered effective for reducing limitations due to hearing loss, especially communication in the elderly. In other words, the quality of life in the elderly who used HA was better than in the elderly who did not use HA. Keywords: elderly, hearing loss, hearing aids, quality of life   ABSTRAK Latar belakang: Penuaan dapat menyebabkan proses degenerasi pada berbagai organ, termasuk organ auditori sehingga terjadi gangguan pendengaran.

Abstract

Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a grave health issue because it is related to quality and survival. This disease has become a problem in Public Health. Primary Level Health Facilities (PLHF) are essential in overcoming this burden. Primary Level Health Facilities can carry out three prevention measures: primary-level prevention, secondary-level prevention, and tertiary-level prevention. Primary-level prevention plays a role in preventing someone from experiencing CKD, secondary-level prevention plays a role in making a diagnosis as early as possible, and tertiary-level prevention plays a role in preventing complications that might occur.

Abstract

Dengue is a tropical disease that is still a major health problem and effects almost half of the world’s human population, especially in Indonesia and affects adults and children. Many efforts have been made to control the disease and spread of Dengue vectors, one of that is the development of the dengue vaccine as part of prevention strategy. This study shows the profile, safety, efficacy, immunogenicity and effectiveness one of the dengue vaccines; Chimeric yellow fever 17 D virus – tetravalent dengue vaccine (CYD-TDV) which is currently in phase III trial and has been licensed in nearly 20 countries in the world. The research method in this literature review used several journals from 2015-2020 in media publications Google Scholar, NCBI, ResearchGate, WHO etc. CYD-TDV is a live attenuated vaccine which is development of dengue virus gene combine with a non-structural gene from the 17 D yellow fever vaccine strain. Vaccines are considered quite safe even though they still potentially causing systemic or local side effects. WHO Strategic Advisory Group of Express on Immunization (SAGE) recommends the use of CYD-TDV vaccine for individuals ≥9 years of age in dengue endemic areas with high transmission intensity, where seroprevalence is >70%. The use of vaccines in children aged 9 years has been shown to reduce the incidence of hospitalization due to Dengue fever. In Indonesia there’s not much information about the development, analysis, and data collection related to the use of dengue vaccine or CYD-TDV, so further research needs to be done.

Abstract

Background: It has been long known that Helicobacter species are one of the leading causes in gastrointestinal diseases. Recently, it is emerging as one of the causes leading to gallbladder diseases, such as gallbladder cancer and gallstones. The aim of this study is to assess the correlation between Helicobacter species and gallbladder cancer and gallstones.Method: This meta-analysis assessed case-control studies from the year 2001 to 2022. A comprehensive literature search was performed in Pubmed, Scopus, Embase, dan Plos One. Review manager 5.4.1, along with the Mantel Haenszel method, was utilized to analyze the data extraction. The methodological index was utilized to assess the risk of bias from the included studies. The odds ratio is calculated with a confidence interval of 95%. P 0.05 was considered significant. Results: Twenty case-control studies from the year 2001 to 2018 with a total number of 2,065 participants were included. We found that there is a low risk of bias and a significant difference between the control group and the experimental group; gallbladder cancer (random effect: OR = 2.38; 95% CI: 1.35–4.19; p = 0.003) and gallstones (fixed effect: OR = 4.17; 95% CI: 2.71– 4.62; p = 0.00001).Conclusion: Results of this meta-analysis demonstrated that the patients with Helicobacter species have an increased risk of gallbladder cancer and gallstones.
