Abstract

One way to deal with uncontrolled population growth is by using contraception through the family planningprogram. the existing contraceptives are mostly synthetic contraceptives that have risks. another alternativethat can be used as contraception with harmless side effects is to use medicinal plants that containantifertility compounds. some plants that contain antifertility compounds are srikaya (annona squamosa l.)and pacing (costus speciosus (koen.). this study aims to determine the effect of pacing rhizome extract, srikaya leaf extract and its combination extract on the number of tertiary follicles and de graff follicles infemale mice. this is an experimental study using a one-way f (anova) test analysis method with a completerandomized design trial. the best reduction in the number of tertiary follicles and de graff follicles is at adose of 250 mg/kg and and the combination extract of pacing rhizome extract and srikaya leaf are at a doseof 125: 125 mg/kg. the decrease in the number of tertiary follicles and de graff follicles can also be causedby the presence of active ingredients in the pacing and srikaya leaves. decreasing the number of follicles ineach treatment is also influenced by the dose given, so the more the number of doses given, the less thenumber of follicles formed.
