Abstract

Pemeriksaan CT-Scan dapat berguna saat menunggu diagnosis laboratorium reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR).Coronavirus disease 2019 is an infectious disease caused by coronavirus species - severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). The first known case was reported in Wuhan, China in December 2019, and became pandemic in March 2020. Radiology has an important role in screening and diagnosis of general pneumonia, including COVID-19 pneumonia. Thorax CT-scan examination has 71% sensitivity because several disease mimic COVID-19; but some specific appearance can differentiate with other lung diseases. CT-Scan may be useful while waiting for reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) result for definite diagnosis of COVID-19 pneumonia.

Abstract

Tendintis kalsifik merupakan penyakit deposisi kristal kalsium hidroksiapatit di dalam atau di sekitar tendon. Etiologinya masih belum diketahui pasti. Deposisi kristal kalsium sering terjadi pada bagian rotator cuff tendon. Gejala bervariasi tergantung fase perjalanan penyakit, dapat self-limiting. Pengobatan lini utama adalah pengobatan oral, jika kurang berhasil dapat dilakukan tindakan invasif minimal. Prosedur barbotase dipandu ultrasonografi memungkinkan panduan radiologis saat memasukkan jarum suntik untuk aspirasi kristal kalsium hidroksiapatite. Prosedur barbotase dipandu ultrasonografi memiliki banyak keuntungan dan berhasil baik.Calcific tendinitis is a disease of crystal deposition inside or around tendon. The etiology is still not known, it is often self-limiting. Most common site for calcific tendinitis is at rotator cuff tendon. Symptoms may depend on the phase of the disease. First-line medication is oral treatment, but some patients require minimal invasive treatment. Ultrasound-guided barbotage procedure allow guidance for needle aspiration of calcium hydroxyapatite crystal. The procedure has many advantage and provide good result.

Abstract

In the fourth year of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic, there is corresponding increase in the proportion exhibiting long-term symptoms and chronic respiratory complication associated with the disease. The British Medical Journal consider post-COVID syndrome as to symptoms continuing for more than 12 weeks. The most prevalent findings were "ground glass opacity" and "fibrotic-like changes”. The term "fibrotic-like changes" exhibited variations across studies, encompassing architectural distortion with traction bronchiectasis, honeycombing, or both, as well as traction bronchiectasis/bronchiolectasis, volume loss, or both. Other descriptions included evidence of stripe-like fibrosis without reticular opacity and the presence of honeycombing, reticulation, and traction bronchiectasis. Bronchial abnormalities, such as wall thickening and dilation, are frequently observed in patients during the acute and early convalescent phases of COVID-19 pneumonia, but their frequency and severity tend to decrease over time.1 However, in a subset of patients, bronchial dilation continues to persist even after recovery from COVID-19 pneumonia. Pulmonary cavitary lesions are uncommon occurrences in cases of COVID-19 pneumonia. Based on a case series, it has been found that approximately 3% of patients who develop COVID-19 pneumonia experience this complication. Despite ongoing research, the exact mechanisms behind the development of pulmonary cavitary lesions in COVID-19 remain unknown. At present, there is no single effective treatment for long COVID. However, low-dose naltrexone, β-blockers, and intravenous immunoglobulin can be considered for treating different symptoms and conditions.

Abstract

The high incidence of kidney stones, or nephrolithiasis, at Royal Prima General Hospital in Medan, affecting 234 patients, constitutes a significant problem requiring resolution. The varied nature of nephrolithiasis presentations observed is attributable to numerous influencing factors. Potential causes of kidney stones include inadequate fluid intake, excessive or insufficient physical activity, obesity, high salt consumption, and other unhealthy behaviours. Furthermore, underlying medical conditions such as diabetes, obesity, and hypertension can elevate the risk of kidney stone formation. This research aimed to analyse the factors associated with nephrolithiasis at Royal Prima General Hospital in Medan. This study employed an observational analytical design with a retrospective approach. The study population comprised the medical records of 234 patients diagnosed with nephrolithiasis who sought treatment at Royal Prima General Hospital in Medan between August 2023 and August 2024. Total sampling was utilised, resulting in a sample size of 234. Data analysis involved univariate, bivariate, and multivariate methods. The results revealed that the majority of patients were aged 46-60 years (n=99, 42.3%) and were male (n=147, 62.8%). Significant associations were found between blood pressure, body mass index (BMI), age, and nephrolithiasis at Royal Prima General Hospital in Medan. However, no significant association was observed between gender and nephrolithiasis. Age (X4) was identified as the variable most strongly associated with nephrolithiasis at Royal Prima General Hospital in Medan.
