Abstract

This study examines the impact of prey-hiding behavior on predator-prey dynamics within theoretical and mathematical ecology. We conduct both analytical and numerical analyses to explore the effects of protection on these dynamics. Our model divides the prey population into two subclasses: susceptible prey (S(t)) and infected prey (I(t)), changing over time. Utilizing a Holling's model type-1, we find that the trivial equilibrium of the model is unstable, while both the disease-free and disease equilibrium points are stable. These simulations provide insights into the characteristics of animals in natural environments.

Abstract

This research aims to find out whether there are differences in Arabic language learning abilities between students who graduated from Islamic boarding schools and students who graduated from outside Islamic boarding schools. This research was conducted at the North Sumatra State Islamic University, Arabic Language Education study program and involved 5 students who graduated from Islamic boarding schools and 5 students who graduated from outside Islamic boarding schools. The method used is a quantitative research method with parametric statistical tests of correlated samples. From the research conducted, it was found that there were differences in Arabic language learning abilities between students graduating from Islamic boarding schools and graduates from outside Islamic boarding schools.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effect of the addition of carrot powder, dragon fruit, secang wood, and telang flowers on the physicochemical and sensory characteristics of milk ice cream. A Complete Random Design (CRD) with four treatments and five repeats was used to observe color, overrun, pH, melting time, texture, and organoleptic parameters. The results show that the addition of natural ingredients has a significant influence on several parameters. Colour and texture showed noticeable differences, with the carrot (P1) treatment having high lightness (62.39±3.89) and with secang wood (P3) treatment having high hardness (509.34 N), while dragon fruit (P2) was preferred in organoleptic tests. Overrun and melting time don't show any noticeable difference (p > 0.05), but overall values are below home industry ice cream standards. The addition of natural ingredients such as dragon fruit and telang flower lowers the pH, influenced by the anthocyanin content. In conclusion, natural ingredients can improve the visual characteristics and sensory preferences of ice cream, but it need optimization to meet industry quality standards.
