Abstract

Research was conducted to create animation as a vehicle for the relief of Sri Tanjung in Panataran Temple as an education of cultural insight of the archipelago. The development of technology has brought changes in various aspects, one of which is education and entertainment (edutainment) media. Temple reliefs, which are one of the cultures of Indonesian literature, are starting to be less attractive to the younger generation now, especially the onslaught of foreign cultures that enter Indonesia. Preservation efforts need to be made because the temple reliefs contain local wisdom of Nusantara culture, which contains moral values that are beneficial to today's generation. By transforming the reliefs of Sri Tanjung stories in Panataran Temple into animated form, it is hoped that literacy through technological adaptation and education of Nusantara cultural insights is expected to be disseminated to the younger generation. The method of creation and presentation is carried out through stages: (1) exploration of ideas and ideas for the creation of Sri Tanjung animation creations; (2) model design to find animation designs through the outsourcing approach; and (3) the presentation of animated films to facilitate the delivery of educational messages of Nusantara cultural insights for today's generation. The results of the research are expected to be through the transfer of vehicles and technology adaptation, namely animation, the younger generation will have a reference to the extraordinarily rich cultural insights of the archipelago. So that a sense of national nationalism grows and is aware of the cultural richness of one's own nation.

Abstract

Motivation and the inspiring theme in documentary television programs are very popular broadcastedin our television. Public like these programs because they provide educational values to thepublic especially related to the value of spirit, togetherness and the desire to achieve the goals. Thiskind of program has raised many pioneering figures that inspire audience. The problem is the narrator or the narration of that program that always be performed by thirdperson, i.e. a reporter or presenter. The reporter or presenter here often only fulfills the market needs:she/he is beautiful or handsome, and she/he sounds tuneful. She/he only presents the story about thesubject, but she/he dominates it. Although this method can help to promote the programs and help theproduction technique team but this method is potential to bring two biases. First, the presenter doesn’thandle the atmosphere around the subject. Second, the presenter maybe presents the subject in thewrong way. So we create this documentary television project “Villager’s Expressions” in order to tryto solve the problems. This project mixes the standard production pattern of documentary televisionprogram with the production pattern of video participatory: the subject tells their own stories bythemselves and with their own point of view.As an experimental project, we present the first episode: “AWI, Children (villager’s) Theater”. AWI isa children theater community that is based on kampong Merganser Kidul, Yogyakarta which hasexisted in Yogyakarta during 2000s. We present this episode beside the above reason and we alsowant to open the stagnation of documentary television program, especially about art and culturaltheme. Keywords: Expression media, Indigenous people, Inspirational TV program, video participant

Abstract

The Insight of Batik film departs from concerns about batik. Batik is the result of Indonesian culture that is recognized as World Heritage by UNESCO. However, most of the general public admiration of batik is currently only limited by sheer visual beauty, but behind a piece of batik cloth, there are many values that can be used as a lesson. Documentary is part of an effort to provide additional information, knowledge and understanding of batik to the cultural life and society. Starting from this objective, the documentary film raised three themes of batik, which is about the history, teachings, and intensity human in batik. The third theme is packed into a documentary film with a visual concept that emphasizes on Close Up technique. This technique gives the proximity to the audience through its ability to present the details of the object. Close Up also able to build a dramatization that can convey the intrinsic elements of batik. Through the documentary film with a Close-Up visual concept is expected to provide a deep understanding of batik. Keywords: Documentary, film, batik, and close up

Abstract

Early marriage remains a social problem, especially among less-educated urban people, including in Tamanan District, Bondowoso Regency, East Java Province. The community has a distinctive and unique Pandalungan language that offers an interesting idea source for filmmaking. Thus, this creation seeks to illustrate how “Hani”, a drama-comedy film, was directed with a local-culture approach. The production of  “Hani” referred to the existing Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) in the audiovisual profession and combined the visual comedy and slapstick approaches. The direction of “Hani” indicates that using local culture (Pandalungan language) in each storyline and local actor character can create an entertaining and educating comedy film. Further, the film produced is an audiovisual work that is easily understandable by the local community.
