Abstract

Parenting in Islam is important to learn because it teaches a lot about how parents educate children in accordance with Islamic teachings. Like wanting to plant a tree that starts from seed, the seed you want to plant should be good so that the plant to be planted becomes good and full of blessings. Someone who wants to start a household should pay attention to several things that can trigger the wrong parenting style to avoid and create a healthy family. The purpose of this research is to identify indicators of improper parenting, the impact of wrong parenting on child development, and steps to implement good parenting according to Islam. The research methodology used is Literature Review, with the aim of collecting, summarizing, and analyzing findings from previous research. Based on the findings of this study, according to the Islamic view, it starts from choosing a partner in the household and the role of parents in educating children. It is important for parents to balance the skills in educating and nurturing children with good parenting and caring in overcoming the problems experienced by their children so that the two things become a balanced whole. Islamic parenting has an important role to play in educating children, focusing on the pre-conception, prenatal, and post-natal periods. Good parenting according to Islam starts from covering the selection of partners in the household, the role of both parents in educating children, and the provision of education and tarbiyah.

Abstract

ASEAN as a regional organization has fundamental principles that underlie all activities carried out by member countries. This basic principle was recorded in the TAC (Treaty of Amity and Cooperation in South-East Asia) in 1976. However, in February 2021, one of the ASEAN member countries, Myanmar, was facing a crisis caused by a coup by the Myanmar military. ASEAN has a fundamental principle that keeps member countries from interfering with each other. However, the Myanmar crisis could affect other member countries and ASEAN cooperation. This study aims to determine the pattern of ASEAN cooperation in dealing with the Myanmar crisis under the basic principles of ASEAN. The research method used is a case study method with this type of research as qualitative research. This paper concludes that ASEAN principles which contrasting to the issues that currently occur make it difficult for ASEAN to make a foreign policy-making approach to the issue of the Myanmar military coup. In addition, this paper also concludes that to overcome the limits given by these basic principles, ASEAN takes an approach through the ASEAN Way of Diplomacy.

Abstract

This study discusses the development of a fingerprint type classification system based on digital image processing using the Support Vector Machine (SVM) method. The system is designed to recognize three main fingerprint patterns: arch, loop, and whorl. The data processing stages include binarization of the fingerprint image and feature extraction using the Histogram of Oriented Gradients (HOG) method. Once the features are extracted, classification is performed using the SVM algorithm with a Radial Basis Function (RBF) kernel to improve separation performance between classes. The dataset used in this study was obtained from the Kaggle platform, and the system was implemented using MATLAB software, complete with a graphical user interface (GUI) to facilitate user interaction. The system’s performance was evaluated by dividing the dataset into 80% training data and 20% testing data. The results show that the model is capable of classifying fingerprint patterns with an accuracy of 89.25%. These findings indicate that the SVM method is effective and can serve as an initial solution for automatic fingerprint-based identification systems.

Abstract

This study is motivated by the variations in expressions of love across individuals, influenced by culture, environment, and upbringing. In Minangkabau society, which adheres to a matrilineal kinship system, differing social roles and values between men and women may influence love styles. The objective of this research is to examine gender-based differences in love styles among Minangkabau emerging adults in Padang City. A comparative quantitative approach was employed with a sample of 400 Minangkabau emerging adults (200 males and 200 females), selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using a love styles scale based on John Lee’s (1973) theory, with a reliability coefficient of 0.924. The questionnaire was distributed online, and data were analyzed using the Mann-Whitney test due to non-normal distribution. The results reveal significant gender differences in the love styles of eros, ludus, storge, pragma, and agape, while no significant difference was found for mania. The study concludes that gender influences variations in love styles among Minangkabau emerging adults, reflecting a cultural construction in which women are ascribed more dominant interpersonal roles. The findings contribute to cross-cultural psychology literature on love and provide a foundation for developing culturally and gender-sensitive psychological interventions.
