Abstract

This study examines how divorced single mothers in Garut, West Java, navigate social, cultural, and economic pressures in a society deeply rooted in patriarchal norms. It explores how religious coping strategies assist them in managing emotions, combating social stigma, and addressing gender injustice. This research employs a descriptive qualitative approach with a multiperspective framework to explore the experiences of four informants selected using purposive and snowball sampling techniques. Data were collected through in-depth interviews and thematically analyzed to identify key patterns in religious coping strategies. The study is grounded in Kenneth Pargament’s religious coping theory and Mary Wollstonecraft’s feminist theory, which provide a robust theoretical foundation. The findings reveal that religious coping strategies help single mothers cope with social and economic pressures through three main approaches. First, self-directing strategies strengthen independence and problem-solving skills. Second, deferring strategies provide emotional peace by entrusting outcomes to God. Third, collaborative coping enhances spiritual connections through prayer and dhikr. Furthermore, the reinterpretation of religious teachings plays a crucial role in challenging patriarchal norms, promoting dignity, resilience, and self-identity. These strategies not only support psychological well-being but also function as tools for empowerment and gender justice. However, this study is limited by its small sample size and localized scope, which may affect the generalizability of the findings.

Abstract

This study aims to explore how local cultural practices, such as traditional rituals, art, and communal activities, can support the trauma recovery process for Generation Z. The research is grounded in the belief that these practices provide not only emotional and spiritual support but also enhance a sense of identity and community belonging, which are vital for the psychological well-being of this generation. Utilizing a systematic literature review (SLR) methodology, the study focuses on articles published in the last five years, with data collected through extensive searches of academic databases like Scopus, Web of Science, PubMed, and Google Scholar. Articles were selected based on their relevance to the use of local cultural practices in trauma recovery for Generation Z, and content analysis techniques were employed to identify common themes and trends. The findings highlight that local cultural practices offer frameworks for emotional expression and social reintegration, essential for trauma recovery. Specifically, rituals such as community healing ceremonies and traditional arts like dance and music provide structured outlets for processing traumatic experiences. These practices, deeply embedded in communal values, help restore normalcy and continuity for trauma-affected individuals. Additionally, participation in these cultural activities significantly reduces feelings of isolation and strengthens social support networks, which are crucial for psychological resilience. The study underscores the importance of integrating local cultural practices into trauma recovery programs, advocating for culturally sensitive approaches that align with the values and beliefs of the community, particularly in the Indonesian context for younger generations.

Abstract

Purpose – This study aims to examine the implementation of cross-curricular learning in enhancing literacy skills at MIN 1 Trenggalek (an  Islamic elementary school), focusing on how the integration of subjects such as environmental awareness, Indonesian language, and Islamic religious education supports the development of literacy, critical thinking, and collaboration skills. This study also identifies the challenges encountered in implementation and provides practical recommendations for educators and policymakers.Method – A qualitative descriptive approach was employed, using interviews, observations, and document analysis to gather data from teachers and administrators. Triangulation was used to validate the findings. Data analysis involved reducing, presenting, and verifying the data to draw meaningful conclusions.Findings – The findings at MIN 1 Trenggalek reveal that implementing cross-curricular learning through thematic integration, which combines multiple subjects under a relevant topic such as the theme "Water and Life" involving science, mathematics, and Indonesian language, effectively enhances students' literacy, critical thinking, and collaboration skills. Students also actively participate in practical and extracurricular activities, such as community clean-up initiatives under the theme "Environmental Cleanliness and Health," which connect science, civics, and reflective writing tasks. This approach not only strengthens students’ academic skills but also integrates religious values into real-life contexts, creating meaningful and applicable learning experiences. Research Implications – This study highlights the potential of cross-curricular learning in faith-based primary schools to improve academic and spiritual literacy. It emphasizes the need for structured teacher training to ensure effective implementation aligned with institutional values.

Abstract

Poverty is a fundamental issue faced by almost every country, especially developing ones. In Indonesia, the number of poor people in March 2022 reached 26.16 million or 9.54% of the total population. This article is the result of a literature review or library research. The research data were obtained from books, journals, research articles, documents, and other publications related to poverty alleviation policies. The research findings indicate that poverty alleviation policies during President Jokowi's administration are divided into three main programs: social assistance, subsidies, and the Village Fund. The social assistance program includes the Family Hope Program (PKH), Non-Cash Food Assistance Program (BPNT), Smart Indonesia Program, Student Aid Program (KIP Kuliah), and Receivers of Health Insurance Premium Assistance (PBI JKN). Although the social assistance program has had an impact on reducing the poverty rate, it is still not entirely effective due to targeting inaccuracies. Furthermore, the subsidy program includes both energy and non-energy subsidies. Energy subsidies are allocated for fuel, LPG, and electricity, while non-energy subsidies consist of fertilizer subsidies, Public Service Obligation (PSO) subsidies, credit program interest subsidies, and tax subsidies. The subsidy program is also considered less effective as it has not yet reached the intended targets. Lastly, the Village Fund, based on the literature, shows findings stating its effectiveness, but there are also research results indicating the opposite. This variation is influenced by different research areas, leading to diverse outcomes.
