Abstract

The rapid growth of e-commerce has changed the modern retail sector dramatically over the past few decades. The recent evolution of the physical retail market, driven by a shift in consumer shopping behavior to online shopping, has caused more and more traditional stores to close. This research aims to determine the transformation and resilience of traditional markets amidst the existence of E-commerce. This type of research uses a descriptive qualitative approach with analytical techniques in the form of content analysis. The research results show that in facing the challenges of this transformation, traditional markets need to adapt by entering the digital realm. Despite being faced with obstacles such as lack of digital literacy, limited resources, and infrastructure constraints, efforts to overcome these obstacles reflect the resilience of traditional markets in facing change. The resilience of traditional markets is reflected in their ability to adapt to new technology, collaborate between business players and government, increase digital literacy, innovate to maintain competitiveness, manage privacy and data security risks, and develop resources through an inclusive financial approach. The government's role is very important in encouraging transformation and facilitating the resilience of traditional markets through support policies, training programs and infrastructure facilitation. In this way, traditional markets can continue to develop, remain an integral element in the economic ecosystem, while maintaining and preserving their cultural and social identity.

Abstract

There is an act of buying and selling between collectors (toke) and palm oil farmers who buy and sell immature palm fruit at the price set by the collector (toke) and this selling price is very different from the price of ripe palm oil, which is where the price of palm fruit is following the retail price circulated by the factory and agreed upon by the collectors (toke-toke) in the area around Aek Goti village, Silangkitang sub-district, then with this activity various actions have emerged that are beyond The limit is due to economic factors that exist in the community of Aek Goti Village, Silangkitang District, so that violations such as theft of oil palm fruit often appear because the collectors (toke) always collect the fruit that comes even though it is not known where it comes from, even though the fruit is it's not yet ripe. And here the author wants to harmonize this with Islamic law. In this writing, the author uses a qualitative field method (Field Research), so the author tries to find informants or sources related to the research problem. The author immediately went out into the field to obtain the required data by visiting the collectors (toke) and farmers who own oil palm plantations in Aek Goti Village, Silangkitang District.

Abstract

This study examines the role of Pelajar Islam Indonesia (PII) in developing Islamic education and proselytization in Tapan, West Sumatra, during the period 1990-2006. The main objective is to understand PII's contribution in strengthening Islamic values among students through religious activities such as Quran study groups, leadership training, and cadre formation. Using historical methods and a qualitative approach, the study collected data from interviews, archival documents, and secondary sources. The analysis stages included heuristics, source criticism, synthesis, and historiographical writing to build a comprehensive narrative. The main findings indicate that PII played an essential role in filling gaps in religious education in Tapan, particularly for young people who needed a platform for Islamic character building. Despite various challenges, including the single principle of Pancasila policy imposed during the New Order era, PII managed to sustain its presence through adaptive strategies, such as using alternative names for its activities and employing flexible approaches that remained consistent with Islamic values. PII's role in Tapan has had a significant social impact, fostering young cadres with strong religious understanding who can contribute as community leaders. The study concludes that PII in Tapan has successfully fulfilled its mission as an Islamic educational organization, consistently reinforcing Islamic values amid political constraints. This research also highlights opportunities for further studies, especially to explore PII’s role in the network of Islamic proselytization in West Sumatra and its continuity post-2006, to understand the dynamics of Islamic organizations amidst socio-political changes in Indonesia.

Abstract

In the era of globalization in Brunei Darussalam, Islam and Malay culture continue to play a significant role in shaping the nation's identity. This role manifests in efforts to preserve the Islamic-Malay identity. The contemporary issue at hand concerns the degradation of local culture due to the penetration of foreign cultures, which has resulted in the erosion, and in some cases the loss, of indigenous cultural traditions. This article specifically examines the implementation of the Arabic-Malay script as a strategy to address the challenges posed by cultural penetration in the era of globalization, particularly during the reign of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah in Brunei Darussalam. The method employed in this study is the historical research method, four stages: heuristics, source criticism, interpretation, and explanation, which is the process of presenting the findings in writing. The findings of research, they are: First, the independence of Brunei Darussalam and its declaration as a Malay Islamic Monarchy (Melayu Islam Beraja) was not solely the will of the king, but also the will of the people of Brunei as a whole. Brunei Darussalam continues to uphold its cultural heritage under the leadership of Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah in the contemporary era. The second, research on these manuscripts serves as a preventive measure to protect local culture from foreign influences that might enter Brunei Darussalam due to globalization. Last, the educational and research initiatives are serious steps taken by the Sultanate government during Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah's reign to ensure that Malay culture remains present and adaptable in any situation or condition

Abstract

The development of the Islamic economy during the reign of Suleiman al-Qanuni (1520–1566 CE) represents one of the significant episodes in the history of global economic development. This article analyzes the economic progress achieved by the Ottoman Empire during the reign of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent (1520-1566), known as one of the peak periods in the empire's history. The main focus of this research is on the economic policies implemented by Sultan Suleiman, as well as their impact on key sectors such as agriculture, trade, and taxation. The research methods employed are: heuristics, source criticism, interpretation, and historiography. The research findings indicate that Suleiman's reign saw the implementation of reforms in the administrative and tax systems, including the continuation of the timar system, which contributed to a more equitable distribution of resources and increased agricultural output. Furthermore, rapidly growing trade relations with Europe, Asia, and Africa positioned the Ottoman Empire as a global trade center, which significantly benefited the economy. Overall, the reign of Sultan Suleiman played a crucial role in modernizing and strengthening the Ottoman economic structure through constructive and systematic policies, bringing prosperity to its people during the 16th century.

Abstract

Urban society is significantly shaped by modernization, with modernity and globalization influencing all facets of culture, religion, politics, and law. These shifts pose challenges for traditional Sufi orders, particularly in adapting to technological advances, social changes, and evolving economic-political landscapes. Sufi order Naqshabandi Haqqani exemplifies a sufi order that effectively responds to modernity through inclusive preaching methods, digital engagement, and social adaptability, while preserving its spiritual essence. This qualitative field research explores how the order adapts to digital technology, approaches social transformation, and maintains relevance in a globalized world. Findings reveal three key aspects: First, the order has expanded significantly in urban areas, attracting followers from various social backgrounds, including elites and bureaucrats. Second, it employs adaptive strategies by embracing innovation and using digital platforms to reach wider and younger audiences. Third, the order adopts a flexible and “easy-going” approach to some Sufi practices, minimizing esoteric and intense philosophical elements that might deter new adherents. This approach reflects a phenomenon of continuity and change, wherein core spiritual teachings are preserved while their presentation and practice evolve to meet contemporary societal needs. As a result, the order remains accessible, relevant, and spiritually meaningful within a modern, digitalized context.
