Abstract

“Konfrontasi” composition is a musical composition that refers to a representation of one form of conflict, which describes an event in which one provokes an action or argument opposite from another person who is considered an opponent openly. In music, confrontation is likened to a word that describes the dynamic and disharmist movement of musical sentences. Confrontation is realized based on the continuity of Gong Kebyar's gamelan character as a revealing medium, namely dynamic characters. Confrontation is realized with the aim of enhancing the knowledge and expertise of stylists to build the ability to create contemporary compositions based on simple thinking on the relevance of the characteristics of ideas to the characteristics of Gong Kebyar. In realizing the composition of Confrontation, stylists use the method of creation of Panca Sthiti Ngawi Sani consisting of: Ngawirasa (Inspiration), Ngawacak (Exploration), Ngarancana (Conception), Ngawangun (Execution), and Ngebah (Presentation). Konfrontasi composition is presented as a contemporary composition with structural parts consisting of three parts with a focus on the concept of contrast and harmony. Contemporary composition is a musical composition that not only considers free without considering conventional provisions or forgetting tradition.

Abstract

This paper aims to reveal the structure and form of Jaya Baya music composition by I Nyoman Windha in JES Gamelan Fusion. Jaya Baya's Music Composition in JES Gamelan Fusion is the result of a rearrangement of the same title worked on with the Sekar Jaya Gamelan Group using Angklung gamelan in 2002 by taking the idea of revealing the meaning of the Bom Bali I Tragedy. This research uses qualitative descriptive research methods, with musicological approach procedures, to analyze the form and structure of the Composition of Musik Jaya Baya in JES Gamelan Fusion. This music turnover is in the style of fusion music, by combining the values of Bali characteristics with Western music values presented by JGF (Jes Gamelan Fusion). It turns out that in her composition, Windha is still thick with Balinese karawitan practices, where various elements of music, the practice of music playing techniques, ornamentation, and even the structure of the music are still Balinese style. Two types of gamelan as the basic foundation of music fusion, namely Jegog gamelan and Semar Pagulingan Saih Pitu gamelan, have certainly given rise to sound color perspectives and instrumentation techniques as a creative force for composition creation.   Windha has also made hybrid music in a fusion style which turned out to be an alternative to combining Western and Eastern music (Nusantara).

Abstract

Purpose: Music Composition "Goak Ngolol" is a form of composition created based on interest in the art of Jegog Jembrana. Methods: The research method used is a qualitative research method with a musicological perspective that focuses on aspects of the transformation of song motifs from Jegog to JES Gamelan Fusion through instrumentation techniques. Results and discussion: "Goak Ngolol" is an innovative character work created by I Nyoman Windha, S.Skar., M.A as a form of transformation of Jegog Jembrana characteristics to JES Gamelan Fusion characteristics. Jes Gamelan Fusion is a music community and a gamelan name coined by I Nyoman Windha. JES Gamelan Fusion is a form of creativity that combines two types of gamelan that is packed with innovative styles, but still rooted in Balinese characteristics. Two types of gamelan as the basic foundation are Jegog and Semar Pagulingan Saih Pitu. Implication: Although there is still Jegog in it, Jegog JES Gamelan Fusion is something different from Jegog in general, giving rise to the perspective of sound colors and game techniques as a new transformation of works.

Abstract

Menganalisa unsur musikalitas dalam suatu komposisi musik dimaksudkan untuk menemukan bagaimana implementasi musikal dapat merealisasikan ide dan konsep yang telah direncanakan oleh komposer dan diterjemahkan dalam bentuk bahasa musik. Implementasi unsur tersebut yang kemudian menjadi salah satu topik pembahasan mengenai unsur musikalitas dalam komposisi musik “Jaya Baya” JES Gamelan Fusion. Komposisi musik “Jaya Baya” merupakan komposisi hasil rearansemen dari komposisi dengan judul yang sama dari Group Gamelan Sekar Jaya, diciptakan oleh I Nyoman Windha pada tahun 2002 dengan mengambil konsep bergaya fusion music, yaitu memadukan nilai karawitan Bali dengan nilai musik Barat yang disajikan oleh JGF (Jes Gamelan Fusion). Jes Gamelan Fusion merupakan sebuah projek musik yang dicetus oleh I Nyoman Windha, sebagai wujud kreativitas perpaduan dua jenis gamelan yang dikemas dengan gaya-gaya inovatif, namun tetap berakar pada karawitan Bali. Dua jenis gamelan sebagai pondasi dasar adalah Gamelan Jegog dan Gamelan Semar Pagulingan Saih Pitu yang tentu menimbulkan perspektif warna suara dan teknik instrumentasi sebagai daya kreativitas penciptaan komposisi. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian kualitatif dengan fokus uraian artikel berupa hasil analisis implementasi unsur musikalitas dalam komposisi musik “Jaya Baya” menggunakan pendekatan secara musikologi.
