Abstract

The Walanae Formation has a wide distribution in the southern arm of Sulawesi, this rock formation was deposited during the formation of the basin due to the Walanae strike-slip fault. The Walanae Formation in the study area comprises sedimentary rocks and pyroclastic rocks, which give different soil characteristics. This study aims to determine the types of sandstones, rocks of origin, and provenance of sandstones in the study area by using spot sampling at representative stations and petrographic analysis. The sandstones of the study area are divided into two groups based on Folk (1974), namely arkose lithic and feldspathic litharenite. Based on the type of quartz, rock fragments, and associated minerals, the origin of the sandstones in the study area are plutonic igneous rocks, volcanic rocks, sedimentary rocks, and metamorphic rocks. The results show that the types of provenance sandstones in the study area are magmatic arc and recycled orogenic.

Abstract

Over the last 2 decades, the need for the application of geosciences has become increasingly in society, geological natural disasters have made various levels of society aware of the importance of knowledge and understanding of the geological conditions of the Indonesian Archipelago. One of the impacts is the increasing number of vocational schools and universities providing earth education. Therefore, a curriculum that includes "Earth Science" as part of its subjects is needed. Vocational High School (SMK) Applied Techno Aviation, Department of Geological and Mining Engineering, Makassar City produces employees who are ready to be deployed in the field to work as technicians, so adequate skills are required in rock identification. Therefore, this training aims to improve students' skills as initial in improving the quality of their introduction to minerals and rocks. The results of this training show a positive trend in student test results by 5% - 27% improving and strengthening student skills, especially in petrology and petrography, is necessary to develop student quality.

Abstract

Spatial literacy is an essential ability to understand, analyze, and interpret spatial information to address global challenges such as climate change, urbanization, and environmental sustainability. This study aims to explore the role of the ten geographical concepts location, place, spatial interaction, movement, region, human-environment interaction, scale, pattern, process, and temporal change in enhancing students' spatial literacy. By employing a literature review method, relevant studies are critically analyzed to uncover the contribution of each concept in shaping students' spatial abilities. The findings indicate that mastering the ten geographical concepts plays a significant role in enriching geographical understanding and improving students' analytical skills. Inquiry-based learning strategies, the use of technologies such as Geographic Information Systems, and spatial data-based approaches have proven effective in enhancing spatial literacy. However, technological limitations, infrastructure challenges, and teacher competencies remain major obstacles in implementing these concepts in schools. This study recommends improving access to learning technologies and providing teacher training as key efforts to optimize geography education in fostering students' spatial literacy.

Abstract

Enhancing the quality of education can be achieved by incorporating This study aims to be able to find out the potential contained in galesong beach beach tourism objects and the strategy of developing galesong beach attractions in Tamalate Village, North Galesong District, Takalar Regency. This type of research is mixed methods research, meaning research that can produce descriptive and statistical data both in written and oral form. The subjects of the study, the owners and managers of galesong beach tourism, the local community and the visitors. The data analysis involves SWOT analysis, which is used to assess both the internal strengths and weaknesses and the external opportunities and threats related to the development of Galesong Beach as a tourist destination. Data analysis techniques use SWOT analysis. The results indicate that Galesong Beach has a ‘worth visiting’ rating, with an evaluation score of 76.25%. This high score is attributed to the supporting elements of the destination, such as adequate accommodation, accessibility, facilities, and infrastructure, all of which enhance its attractiveness to tourists. The SWOT analysis places the Galesong Beach development strategy in Quadrant I, suggesting a Rapid Growth Strategy. This positioning indicates that Galesong Beach should focus on strategies to accelerate visitor growth, leveraging its strengths to capitalize on opportunities for rapid expansion. That is, Galesong Beach attractions are in a strategy to increase the growth rate of tourist visitors by using faster time.
