Abstract

Domestic violence (KDRT) causes misery for victims, especially women and children. Therefore the church needs to be involved in efforts to overcome it. But the fact is that churches, in general, haven't done much about domestic violence. This research seeks to discover the church's obstacles in overcoming domestic violence through research in the Persekutuan Jemaat Mandiri Protestan Banggai (PJM-PB) Korampotan Pondan congregation. The method used is qualitative, with interviews as a data collection technique. Data were analyzed with reduction, display, and conclusions techniques. The results show two dominant obstacles for the MPH Congregation in overcoming domestic violence: 1) cultural factors, namely values that perceive domestic violence as a private family matter that others should not know about and interfere with; 2) lack of knowledge about domestic violence. The theological factors usually an obstacle for the church are not found in this study.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the perceptions of the youth of Namaasi Meselesek Congregation regarding having a partner of the same faith. The main issue investigated is the beliefs and views of church youth about the importance of having a partner of the same faith in a pluralistic society. The subjects of the study are the youth of the Protestant Christian Church in Indonesia (GPIBK) Namaasi Meselesek Congregation. The research method used is descriptive quantitative with a survey approach. The entire population of church youth was used as the research sample, with data collected through a Likert scale-based questionnaire. The data analysis technique used is descriptive analysis with the help of SPSS. The study's findings indicate: first, respondents have a strong belief that a partner must share the same faith, rejecting various reasons such as happiness, love, age pressure, economic conditions, and pregnancy situations to choose a partner of a different faith. Second, there is awareness of the difficulty in finding a partner of the same faith in a predominantly non-Christian society. Third, despite holding firmly to the principle of having a partner of the same faith, respondents reject a partner of the same faith if they have bad behavior. This reflects their commitment to Christian principles and awareness of the social challenges present. This study provides both theoretical and practical insights for church communities and studies on the influence of religion in choosing a life partner.

Abstract

The vocational commitment of theology students is not static; it evolves over time due to a variety of internal and external influences. This study aims to identify and analyze the factors that influence changes in the pastoral vocation commitment of theology students. Employing a descriptive quantitative method, data were collected through a structured questionnaire distributed to 31 theology students of Star’s Lub Theological College. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics to obtain mean values across seven indicators. The findings show that faith conviction and family support had the highest scores, while spiritual experience and the influence of the church environment were comparatively lower. Some students expressed doubts about becoming pastors, suggesting cognitive dissonance between vocational ideals and the practical realities of ministry. It is concluded that vocational commitment is shaped by the integration of personal faith, emotional maturity, and supportive social contexts. The study recommends that theological institutions strengthen reflective spiritual formation and contextual mentoring programs to sustain students’ ministry commitment.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kesesuaian konsep berkat dalam ritual Montalai suku Saluan dengan ajaran Kristen, serta mengeksplorasi bagaimana ritual tersebut dapat diterjemahkan dan dipahami dalam kerangka ajaran Kristen menggunakan model terjemahan Stephen B. Bevans. Metodologi yang digunakan adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan teknik wawancara mendalam dan observasi terhadap pelaksanaan ritual Montalai. Data yang diperoleh dari wawancara dengan tokoh adat dan pemburu, serta observasi lapangan, dianalisis untuk mengidentifikasi simbol-elemen atau simbol budaya yang relevan dengan konsep berkat dalam Kristen. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa simbol-simbol seperti Tinumpu Nu Tano sebagai sumber berkat, sesajen, syair doa, dan pantangan dalam ritual Montalai dapat diterjemahkan sebagai ekspresi permohonan berkat dalam konteks Kristen, tanpa mengubah inti ajaran Kristen tentang berkat. Kesimpulan penelitian ini mengungkapkan bahwa penerjemahan ritual Montalai ke dalam ajaran Kristen berpotensi memperkaya pemahaman spiritual masyarakat Saluan, namun memerlukan kehati-hatian untuk menghindari sinkretisme. Penelitian ini memberikan kontribusi terhadap pengembangan teologi kontekstual dan praktik inklusif dalam menyampaikan pesan Injil kepada komunitas dengan tradisi budaya yang kuat.
