Abstract

This research wants to answer why many overseas Christian students are not active in church youth fellowships where they are studying. The research was conducted on Christian students at one of the universities in Luwuk city, Banggai district, Central Sulawesi. The method used is quantitative with a survey approach. Data was collected by questionnaire and analyzed by descriptive statistics. Four indicators are used: cultural, communication, economic, and social relationships. The research results show that three of them are barriers that are cultural, economic, and social relationships. For this reason, churches in Luwuk need to develop a service system, especially in youth fellowships, making it easier for overseas Christian students to participate actively.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the perceptions of the youth of Namaasi Meselesek Congregation regarding having a partner of the same faith. The main issue investigated is the beliefs and views of church youth about the importance of having a partner of the same faith in a pluralistic society. The subjects of the study are the youth of the Protestant Christian Church in Indonesia (GPIBK) Namaasi Meselesek Congregation. The research method used is descriptive quantitative with a survey approach. The entire population of church youth was used as the research sample, with data collected through a Likert scale-based questionnaire. The data analysis technique used is descriptive analysis with the help of SPSS. The study's findings indicate: first, respondents have a strong belief that a partner must share the same faith, rejecting various reasons such as happiness, love, age pressure, economic conditions, and pregnancy situations to choose a partner of a different faith. Second, there is awareness of the difficulty in finding a partner of the same faith in a predominantly non-Christian society. Third, despite holding firmly to the principle of having a partner of the same faith, respondents reject a partner of the same faith if they have bad behavior. This reflects their commitment to Christian principles and awareness of the social challenges present. This study provides both theoretical and practical insights for church communities and studies on the influence of religion in choosing a life partner.

Abstract

This study explores church members’ participation in household worship, particularly the relationship between economic conditions and social customs surrounding hospitality practices. The research was conducted at Syalom Kantaman Congregation in Banggai Kepulauan, Central Sulawesi. The study aims to examine whether economic conditions influence members’ readiness to host home worship services and whether the habit of providing meals acts as a moderating factor. A quantitative method with a survey approach was employed. The sample consisted of 30 purposively selected active church members. Data were collected using a Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using simple linear regression and moderation analysis via SPSS. The findings show that economic conditions do not significantly affect members’ readiness. However, when the habit of providing meals is included as a moderating variable, the influence of economic conditions becomes statistically more apparent. The study concludes that social pressure stemming from hospitality norms plays a more substantial role than economic realities in shaping participation. These findings highlight the need for more contextual and liberating pastoral and liturgical approaches.
