Abstract

Reading the food labels including nutritional labels has been listed on Indonesian Nutrition Guideline2014. The result of the study by National Consumer Protection Institute in 2007 stated 94,3% customers inIndonesia haven’t comply on reading food labels. Consumers, including mothers have an important role indetermining consumption for children underfive. Food packaging for children underfive increases due to theincreasing amount of supermarkets that supply packaged food. Mother’s role to control child’s nutritrion intakewas very important because children underfive is a golden period. Reading the nutritional labels on the packageof food is one way to control nutrient intake of children. This study aims to analyze the relationship betweenknowledge and skill on reading nutritional labels with compliance in reading nutritional labels among mothers ofchildren underfive in Rungkut sub district, Surabaya City. This quantitative research used cross sectional designwith 100 respondents who were drawn from population based on proportional random sampling method. Primarydata were taken using interview with questionnaire and fill self-administered questionnaire. Data analysis wasperformed using chi-square test. Abstract

ABSTRAK Konsumsi buah dan sayur di Indonesia masih rendah terutama pada kelompok remaja awal (10 – 14 tahun). Kurangnya konsumsi buah dan sayur dapat mengakibatkan tubuh kekurangan asupan vitamin, mineral dan serat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mempelajari hubungan preferensi/kesukaan dan pengetahuan gizi dengan konsumsi buah dan sayur pada remaja di SMPNegeri 45 Surabaya. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan cross sectional dengan sampel sebesar 97 siswa dari SMPN 45 Surabaya, yang dipilih dengan teknik simple random sampling. Variabel bebas penelitian adalah preferensi/kesukaan, pengetahuan gizi, pengaruh teman sebaya dan besarnya uang saku. Sedangkan variabel terikat adalah konsumsi buah dan sayur.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya hubungan bermakna antara preferensi/kesukaan (0,017), pengaruh teman sebaya (p = 0,011)dengan konsumsi buah dan sayur.Kesimpulan penelitian adalah siswa yang tidak menyukai buah dan sayur cenderung kurang mengonsumsi buah dan sayur. Siswa yang memiliki pengetahuan gizi kurang, pengaruh teman sebaya kurang dan uang saku ≥ 10.000 (diatas atau sama dengan median) cenderung kurang mengonsumsi buah dan sayur. Untuk meningkatkan konsumsi buah dan sayur siswa, diharapkan penelitian ini menjadi acuan bahan ajar di sekolah tentang pentingnya buah dan sayur, orangtua siswa memfasilitasi siswa jika ingin mengonsumsi buah dan sayur serta selalumemberikan contoh dan dukungan kepada siswa agar mengonsumsi buah dan sayur setiap hari. Kata kunci: remaja, konsumsi, buah, sayur ABSTRACT Fruit and vegetable consumption in Indonesia is still low, especially in the early teens (10-14 years). The lack of fruit and vegetable consumption can result in the body lacks vitamins, minerals and fiber. This research aims to study the relationship preferences / preferences and knowledge of nutrition with fruit and vegetable consumption among adolescents in SMP Negeri 45 Surabaya. This study used cross sectional design with a sample of 97 students of SMPN 45 Surabaya, selected by simple random sampling technique. The independent variables were the preferences / preferences, nutritional knowledge, the influence of peers and the amount of pocket money. The dependent variable is the consumption of fruits and vegetables. Results showed a significant relationship between preference (0.017), the influence of peers (p = 0.011) with the consumption of fruits and vegetables. Conclusions were students who do not like fruits and vegetables are less likely to consume fruits and vegetables. Students who have knowledge of malnutrition, lack of peer influence and allowance ≥ 10,000 (above or equal to the median) tend to consume less fruit and vegetables. To increase consumption of fruit and vegetables the students, this research is expected to be a reference teaching materials in schools about the importance of fruits and vegetables, parents facilitate student if you want to eat fruits and vegetables and always give the example and support to the students to eat fruits and vegetables every day. Abstract

Latar Belakang: Stunting masih menjadi masalah kesehatan masyarakat di Indonesia. Terjadi peningkatan prevalensi stunting di Kabupaten Ngawi pada tahun 2022 meskipun merupakan salah satu wilayah yang menjadi prioritas intervensi stunting. Beberapa faktor penyebab stunting yaitu karakteristik balita, pola asuh pemberian makan dan tingkat kecukupan zat gizi. Tujuan: Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menganalisis hubungan antara karakteristik balita, pola asuh pemberian makan dan tingkat kecukupan zat gizi makro dengan kejadian stunting pada balita usia 24-59 bulan di wilayah kerja Puskesmas Geneng dan Puskesmas Pitu, Kabupaten Ngawi. Metode: Penelitian ini menggunakan desain case-control dengan total sampel sebanyak 44 balita yang dipilih melalui simple random sampling. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara pengukuran antropometri dan wawancara secara langsung dengan ibu balita sebagai responden. Instrumen wawancara yang digunakan adalah kuesioner karakteristik responden, parental feeding style questionnaire dan formulir food recall 2x24 jam. Hubungan antar variabel diuji secara statistik menggunakan software IBM SPSS 25 dengan uji Pearson Chi-Square dan Likehood Ratio. Hasil: Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa tidak terdapat hubungan yang bermakna antara jenis kelamin balita (p = 0,128), pola asuh pemberian makan (p = 0,143), tingkat kecukupan energi (p = 0,063) dan karbohidrat (p = 0,546) dengan kejadian stunting. Akan tetapi terdapat hubungan yang bermakna antara tingkat kecukupan zat gizi protein (p = 0,021) dan lemak (p = 0,006) dengan kejadian stunting. Kesimpulan: Kecukupan harian balita harus dipenuhi dengan meningkatkan konsumsi dan variasi makanan balita pada makanan sumber karbohidrat (nasi), protein dan lemak (telur, ayam dan kacang-kacangan) serta makanan sumber vitamin dan mineral (sayur dan buah).

Abstract

Over-nutrition among Indonesian adolescents has increased significantly over the past decade. High consumption of ultra-processed foods (UPFs) and low physical activity are the primary contributing risk factors. Adolescents are particularly vulnerable to changes in dietary patterns and lifestyle that may affect long-term health outcomes. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between UPF consumption and physical activity with over-nutrition status among students at SMAN 1 Jember. A cross-sectional design was employed involving 89 students from grades X and XI, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using the SQ-FFQ and IPAQ. Nutritional status was determined based on BMI-for-age, following the standards of the Indonesian Ministry of Health. Statistical analysis was conducted using the chi-square test with a significance level of p<0.05. The results showed that the majority of respondents were not over-nutrition (76.4%), while 14.6% were classified as over-nutrition. A significant association was found between the frequency of UPF consumption and over-nutrition status (p=0.001). However, no significant association was observed between physical activity and over-nutrition status (p=0.797). These findings add evidence for further research on high UPF consumption on increased risk of over-nutrition in adolescents. In contrast, physical activity did not show a significant association, possibly due to the presence of other contributing factors.

Abstract

Adolescents are considered a vulnerable group to nutritional problems because they experience rapid physical growth accompanied by lifestyle changes and unhealthy eating habits. The increasing prevalence of overweight and obesity among teenagers has become a major public health concern that requires serious attention. This study was conducted to examine the relationship between peer influence, the frequency of eating out, and fast-food consumption habits with the incidence of overweight among students at SMAN 1 Surabaya. The research applied a quantitative approach using an analytical observational design with a cross-sectional method. A total of 81 students participated in the study and were selected through proportional random sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires, SQ-FFQ forms, and anthropometric measurements, then analyzed using the Chi-Square statistical test. The findings revealed significant associations between peer influence, eating out frequency, and fast-food consumption habits with the occurrence of overweight among adolescents. Students who more frequently consumed meals outside the home and regularly ate fast food showed a greater tendency to experience overweight and obesity. These results indicate that social environments and modern dietary patterns contribute to the increasing prevalence of overweight among adolescents. Therefore, nutrition education and healthy lifestyle promotion should be strengthened through the involvement of schools, families, and peer groups.
