Abstract

Family planning (KB) is one of the Indonesian government's priority programs to control the rate of population growth. IUD (Intrauterine Device) is an effective and popular family planning method in Indonesia. Quality midwifery care is important to ensure successful IUD use and increase acceptor satisfaction. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of midwifery care for family planning acceptors with IUDs in Kayu Kul Village, Pegasing, Central Aceh, Indonesia. This study used a cross-sectional observational design involving family planning acceptors with IUDs in Kayu Kul Village, Pegasing, Central Aceh, Indonesia. Data was collected through structured interviews and observations of midwifery care provided to acceptors. Data were analyzed using univariate and bivariate analysis with the Chi-square test. The results showed that the majority of family planning acceptors with IUDs (80%) received effective midwifery care. Effective midwifery care includes: complete health screening, comprehensive education about IUD use, counseling about IUD side effects and complications, and regular monitoring of IUD use. Acceptors who received effective midwifery care had a higher level of satisfaction (90%) compared to acceptors who did not receive effective midwifery care (60%). Effective midwifery care has been proven to increase family planning acceptor satisfaction with the IUD. Therefore, it is important to improve the quality of midwifery care at Health Centers to ensure successful use of IUDs and increase acceptor satisfaction.

Abstract

Toddler health is an important indicator of public health and nation development. Midwifery care plays an important role in maintaining the health of toddlers, including observing the health of toddlers aged 24 months. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of midwifery care in observing the health of 24-month-old toddlers in Kute Rayang Village, Central Aceh, Indonesia. This study used a cross-sectional observational design with a sample of 100 toddlers aged 24 months who were selected at simple random. Data was collected through interviews, observation, and physical examination. Data analysis was carried out using Chi-square and T-test. The results showed that midwifery care in observing the health of 24-month-old toddlers in Kute Rayang Village, Central Aceh, Indonesia was quite effective. As many as 80% of toddlers have undergone complete health observation by midwives. Observation of toddler health has increased complete immunization coverage (p<0.05), nutritional status of toddlers (p<0.05), and maternal knowledge about toddler health (p<0.05). Midwifery care in health observations for 24-month-old toddlers in Kute Rayang Village, Central Aceh, Indonesia is quite effective, but can still be improved. Increasing the effectiveness of midwifery care can be done through various efforts, including increasing the knowledge and skills of midwives, increasing community access to health services, and increasing community participation in maintaining the health of toddlers.

Abstract

Iron deficiency anemia during pregnancy poses significant health risks to both mother and child. The role of healthcare workers in promoting iron tablet adherence is crucial. This study aimed to analyze the influence of healthcare workers' roles (as customer, communicator, motivator, facilitator, and counselor) on pregnant women's adherence to iron tablet consumption. A prospective cohort study was conducted involving pregnant women within the Puskesmas Lut Tawar work area in Aceh Tengah District. Data collection included questionnaires and interviews. The study assessed the relationship between healthcare workers' roles and adherence to iron tablet consumption using statistical analysis. The study found that the role of healthcare workers as counselors had a significant influence on adherence to iron tablet consumption (P = 0.041). Other roles, such as customer, communicator, motivator, and facilitator, did not show a statistically significant impact on adherence. The role of healthcare workers as counselors plays a crucial role in improving pregnant women's adherence to iron tablet consumption. The study recommends enhancing the counseling skills of healthcare workers and providing comprehensive support to pregnant women to address their concerns and challenges related to iron tablet intake.

Abstract

Anemia during pregnancy remains a significant global health concern, particularly in developing countries like Indonesia. However, adherence to iron supplementation programs is often suboptimal, leading to persistent anemia and adverse maternal and neonatal outcomes. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between health behaviors (knowledge, attitudes, and practices) and adherence to iron supplementation among pregnant women in a primary care setting in Aceh Tengah, Indonesia. Additionally, we explored the impact of these factors on anemia prevalence. A cross-sectional study was conducted at the Pegasing Community Health Center in Aceh Tengah, Indonesia. Pregnant women diagnosed with anemia were recruited, and data were collected using questionnaires assessing their knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding iron supplementation. Hemoglobin levels were measured to determine anemia status. Statistical analyses were performed to examine the relationships between health behaviors, adherence, and anemia prevalence. A total of 59 pregnant women with anemia participated in the study. Adherence to iron supplementation was suboptimal, with 59.3% reporting poor adherence. Knowledge about iron supplementation was generally good (76.3%), but attitudes and practices were less favorable (30.5% and 27.1%, respectively). Statistical analyses revealed a significant association between attitudes and practices related to iron supplementation and adherence. Furthermore, poor adherence was linked to a higher prevalence of anemia. In conclusion, healthy behaviors, particularly attitudes and practices, play a crucial role in iron supplementation adherence among pregnant women in Aceh Tengah, Indonesia. Interventions targeting these behaviors are essential to improve adherence and reduce the burden of anemia in this population.

Abstract

Background. Coverage of Fe tablets in Aceh Tengah District is very low, even lower than other districts in Aceh; namely 12.4 percent for Fe 1 and 10.56 percent for Fe3. Failure to distribute these tablets in this district may lead to an increase in the prevalence of anemia. One of the reasons is that the monitoring, recording, and reporting system by health officers in consuming Fe tablets and in routinely checking Hb levels is not good enough. This study aims to analyze the effect of the role of leadership (customers, communicators, motivators, facilitators, and counselors) on the adherence of pregnant women to consuming Fe tablets in the Central Aceh Regency in 2021. Methods. This type of research is a survey with a cross-sectional approach. The population is all pregnant women in the Aceh Tengah Regency area with a gestational age of more than 20 weeks, or it could be less than 20 weeks, provided that this is the first visit and has made a health visit at the health center. Methods of collecting data by interviewing and checking the health development of pregnant women with Editing, Coding, Entry, and Cleaning. Data were analyzed by univariate, bivariate, and multivariate. Results. The results of the multivariate analysis with logistic regression obtained the facilitator variable has the greatest influence on compliance in consuming Fe tablets with a value of OR = 14,166 meaning pregnant women who accept the role of health officers as facilitators will obediently consume Fe tablets as much as 14,166 times when compared to mothers who do not accept the role of health officers as customers. Conclusion. The low adherence to Fe tablet consumption was due to the fact that the number of Fe tablets given by health officers to pregnant women in Aceh Tengah Regency was not up to the standard, which was 90 tablets. Customers and facilitators have a relationship with the adherence of pregnant women to consuming Fe tablets. The facilitator has the greatest influence on compliance in consuming Fe tablets.
