Abstract

Churches always exist in a particular context and always choose to respond to the development of culture or civilization, including Society 5.0. Society 5.0, based on technology, provides the concept of a human-centered society and the integration between the virtual world and the real world, which is often expressed by the term super-smart society. Is the church ready for this civilization? To answer that question, we need a big picture of the leadership that exists in the church. By using eight dimensions of culture and leadership from the Global Leadership and Organizational Behavior Effectiveness, this article seeks to create a picture of the leadership culture in the church based on the congregation's perspective, to be taken into consideration for leadership in the church in the Society 5.0 era. The researcher uses the basic survey method to describe church leadership. The results of the church's descriptive analysis tend to future orientation, performance orientation, assertiveness, human orientation, and collectivism. However, the church needs to pay special attention to the cultural dimension of uncertainty avoidance that tends to hinder the flexibility of church leaders.AbstrakGereja yang selalu hadir dalam konteks tertentu, selalu memiliki pilihan untuk merespons perkembangan budaya atau peradaban, termasuk Society 5.0. Society 5.0 dengan basis pemanfaatan teknologi memberikan konsep human-centered society dan integrasi antara dunia maya dan dunia nyata, yang sering diungkapkan dengan istilah super smart society. Apakah gereja siap dengan peradaban ini? Untuk menjawab pertanyaan  itu, diperlukan gambaran besar mengenai kepemimpinan yang ada di dalam gereja. Dengan menggunakan delapan dimensi budaya dan kepemimpinan dari Global Leadership and Organization Behaviour Effectivness artikel ini berupaya membuat gambaran budaya kepemimpinan yang ada di dalam gereja berdasarkan perspektif jemaat, untuk dijadikan bahan pertimbangan kepemimpinan dalam gereja di era Society 5.0. Peneliti menggunakan metode survei dasar dengan tujuan untuk menggambarkan kepemimpinan gereja. Hasil analisis deskriptif gereja memiliki kecenderungan pada future orientation, performance orientation, assertiveness, human orieentation, dan kolektivisme. Namun, gereja perlu memiliki perhatian khusus pada dimensi budaya uncertainty avoidance yang cenderung dapat menghambat fleksibilitas pemimpin gereja.

Abstract

Leadership always looks at three main aspects: the leader, the follower, and the situation. These three aspects also make leadership theory always tested in new contexts so that experts continue to seek which leadership theory is most effective in specific contexts. This has the consequence of the dominance of research related to leadership in the organizational context, which is also seen in Christian leadership studies in constructing Christian leadership. Analysis of Christian leadership usually focuses on God and one particular character. This article explains that at least three main aspects are needed to examine Christian leadership: theological, leadership process, and reflective. This article offers to read the text in its entirety and pay attention to each of the roles involved. Reading the text of Exodus 1-2 finds the leadership of the minority against the rulers, namely the midwives and Moses: creative disobedience and the death of a vision. Thorough leadership analysis is needed in building Christian leadership. Abstrak Kepemimpinan selalu melihat tiga aspek utama: pemimpin, pengikut, dan situasi. Tiga aspek itu juga yang membuat teori kepemimpinan selalu diuji dalam konteks yang selalu baru, sehingga para ahli terus mengupayakan teori kepemimpinan mana yang paling efektif dalam konteks tertentu. Hal itu memberikan konsekuensi dominasi penelitian terkait kepemimpinan dalam konteks organisasi terlihat juga dalam penelitian-penelitian kepemimpinan Kristen dalam mengonstruksi kepemimpinan Kristen. Analisis kepemimpinan Kristen biasanya terfokus pada Allah dan satu tokoh tertentu saja. Artikel ini memberikan pemahaman setidaknya diperlukan tiga aspek utama untuk mengkaji kepemimpinan Kristen: teologis, proses kepemimpinan, dan reflektif. Artikel ini menawarkan untuk membaca teks secara menyeluruh dan memerhatikan setiap peran yang terlibat. Pembacaan teks Keluaran 1-2 menemukan kepemimpinan dari kaum minoritas terhadap penguasa, yakni para bidan-bidan dan Musa: creative disobedience dan the death of vision. Analisis kepemimpinan yang menyeluruh diperlukan dalam membangun kepemimpinan Kristen.

Abstract

The starting point of the author's thoughts to elaborate  spiritual leadership with theological foundations is the discovery of phenomena both in general and in the church related to leadership deviations. To achieve this, this study uses a narrative hermeneutic approach, and the results of the analysis are viewed using the perspective of Fry's theory of spiritual leadership. The results of the analysis are (1) Spiritual leadership that Fry has described with elements of Vision, Faith/Hope and Altruistic Love can also be seen in David's leadership in the text of 1 Samuel 23:1-13; (2) David's leadership can be used as a good example in leadership in general and also in Christian leadership in transformation efforts by relying on God and putting the vision on Faith/Hope to God, seeking God before making a decision to act; and (3) the success of the vision in David's leadership was not the achievement of his personal goals and the goals of his followers, but the achievement of God's purposes; and (4) The application of Altruistic Love in leadership will be able to bring change in a much better directionAbstrakTitik pangkal pemikiran penulis dalam membangun kepemimpinan spiritual dengan fondasi teologis adalah ditemukannya fenomena-fenomena baik umum dan gereja terkait penyelewengan kepemimpinan. Untuk mencapai itu, penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan hermeneutika naratif dan hasil dari analisis tersebut dilihat menggunakan perspektif teori kepemimpinan spiritual dari Louis W. Fry. Hasil dari analisis tersebut adalah (1) Kepemimpinan spiritual yang telah dijelaskan Fry dengan elemen Visi, Iman/Harapan dan Cinta Altruistis dapat terlihat juga dalam kepemimpinan Daud dalam teks 1 Samuel 23:1-13; (2) Kepemimpinan Daud dapat dijadikan teladan baik dalam kepemimpinan secara umum dan juga di dalam kepemimpinan Kristen dalam upaya transformasi dengan bergantung kepada Tuhan dan meletakan visi pada Iman/Harapan kepada Tuhan, mencari Tuhan sebelum mengambil keputusan untuk bertindak; dan (3) Keberhasilan visi di dalam kepemimpinan Daud bukanlah tercapainya tujuan pribadinya dan tujuan pengikutnya, melainkan tercapainya tujuan Tuhan; dan (4) Penerapan Cinta Altruistis dalam kepemimpinan akan mampu membawa perubahan ke arah yang jauh lebih baik.

Abstract

In the last five years, there has been very little research on the relationship between religious commitment and self-value of Christian youth in Indonesia for character development. In response, we researched Christian adolescents broadly represented across the Gereja Kristen Perjanjian Baru, Christian Religious Education Students in Bandung, and Immanuel Christian School in Pontianak. We had 480 respondents, and the result is that 89% of adolescents have feelings of self-worth. However, when adolescents assessed feelings of failure, pride, and self-satisfaction, the data revealed that 35% of adolescents have feelings of failure, 49% lack pride in themselves, and 35% have feelings of dissatisfaction. Based on the research results, we recommend three areas for further research and practical implementation for character development among adolescents.
