Abstract

This research aims to examine the concept and relationship between jihad and science in the context of Islam, this research discusses the history of jihad, the definition of jihad, the importance of jihad, the definition of Islamic science. In addition, this research also identifies the types and levels of jihad, the kinds of jihad, and the purpose and objectives of jihad in Islam. This research method provides an extensive literature study of primary and secondary sources related to jihad, Islamic science, and the thoughts of Islamic scholars. Classical texts such as the Qur'an, Hadith, were used as the main references. The results of this study reveal that jihad in Islam has a long history that involves spiritual, moral, and physical dimensions. The definition of jihad includes individual efforts to improve themselves, fight lust, and protect religion and Muslims from threats. Islamic religious knowledge is important in understanding and implementing jihad correctly, because it requires a deep understanding of religious principles and teachings. The connection between jihad and Islamic religious knowledge lies in the importance of deep religious knowledge to carry out jihad properly and avoid wrong or extreme understanding. Jihad is divided into several types and levels, including jihad with conscience. Each type of jihad has its own role in protecting and strengthening Islam and building goodness in the world. Jihad with Islamic knowledge is a call for Muslims to continue to learn, understand, and implement religious teachings correctly. Religious knowledge is an important foundation in implementing jihad in a balanced, responsible manner, and based on a deep understanding of Islamic teachings.

Abstract

The era of globalization, marked by massive social, cultural, and technological changes, demands that the younger generation—particularly Muslim youth—be well-prepared to face contemporary challenges without losing their religious identity. This article explores the role of Islamic Religious Education (IRE) in shaping a resilient, well-characterized, and adaptive Muslim generation in the face of global change. The method employed is library research by analyzing various recent and relevant scholarly journals. The findings indicate that IRE plays a strategic role in character building, strengthening moral and spiritual resilience, and enhancing the competitiveness of Muslim youth through contextual curriculum approaches, innovative teaching methods, and synergy among schools, families, and communities. This study recommends strengthening Islamic values through curriculum reform, developing teacher professionalism, and utilizing digital technology in a moderate and purposeful manner.

Abstract

This study aims to examine how a deep learning approach transforms Islamic Religious Education beyond memorization toward meaningful understanding and value internalization in Indonesian border-area schools. Using a qualitative case study design, data were collected through classroom observations, in-depth interviews with teachers, school leaders, and students, and analysis of instructional documents. The data were analyzed thematically to identify patterns of pedagogical change and value formation. The findings reveal that deep learning shifts Islamic Religious Education from surface-level content transmission to reflective, contextual, and dialogical meaning-making. Teachers’ roles evolve from knowledge transmitters to facilitators of inquiry and reflection, while students demonstrate greater engagement, critical thinking, and a deeper connection to Islamic values. The integration of students’ lived religious experiences strengthens the internalization of moral and spiritual values. The study implies that deep learning provides a transformative pedagogical framework for Islamic Religious Education, particularly in culturally diverse and peripheral contexts. It contributes to the theoretical expansion of deep learning discourse into faith-based education and offers practical guidance for developing reflective, student-centred Islamic Religious Education instruction.

Abstract

This study examines how local wisdom contributes to the organizational sustainability of Islamic boarding schools (pesantren) by integrating it within a learning organization framework. While previous studies often position local wisdom as a cultural identity element, limited research explores its strategic role in strengthening institutional sustainability. This research employs a qualitative case study approach at Pesantren Trubus Iman Paser. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and document analysis, and analyzed using an interactive model involving data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing to ensure credibility and thematic coherence. The findings reveal that the pesantren’s sustainability is constructed through the dynamic interaction of three interconnected dimensions: learning organization practices, optimization of local wisdom, and multi-dimensional sustainability (social, institutional, and economic). Local religious and cultural values function as a foundational resource internalized through shared vision, collective learning, and participatory leadership. These practices generate program innovations, including contextualized curricula, community engagement, and entrepreneurship-based economic empowerment. The resulting sustainability reinforces social legitimacy and strengthens institutional adaptability. This study proposes a dynamic and circular conceptual model of a local wisdom-based pesantren, demonstrating that sustainability is not a static outcome but an adaptive and self-reinforcing process. The findings contribute to Islamic educational management by positioning local wisdom as strategic cultural capital in building resilient and sustainable community-based educational institutions.
