Abstract

In the coming years, Indonesia will experience a Demographic Bonus, with the fourth largest population in the world. This phenomenon provides great opportunities for economic growth and social progress. However, the advent of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 brings new challenges related to the changing landscape of work and automation that could potentially pose a threat to the sovereignty and integrity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia. This research evaluates strategies for managing the Demographic Bonus in Indonesia by considering the implications of the Industrial Revolution 4.0 from the perspective of defense science and state defense. The method used in this research is qualitative with descriptive analysis, Data collection in this research uses a literature study, The results showed that in facing and maximizing the demographic bonus, the right strategy is needed. The government has prepared a strategy to face the demographic bonus, namely by improving the quality of human resources such as reducing the stunting rate; increasing the human development index; increasing the gender empowerment index, then adjusting the education curriculum to the needs of industry 4.0, and preparing jobs by making downstream industrial policies and carrying out infrastructure development and access to technology, especially in 3T areas, is also an important focus. From the perspective of defense science and state defense, its role has increased in identifying threats, formulating defense policies, and protecting infrastructure. Implementation evaluations show that collaboration across sectors and governments is essential. Community empowerment, family planning, and controlled population growth are also key factors. With synergy between the government, private sector, and society, Indonesia is expected to reap maximum benefits from the Demographic Bonus while managing the impact of the Industrial Revolution 4.0, promoting sustainable growth and national prosperity.

Abstract

This research examines the implementation of Total Quality Management (TQM) in the context of defence technology development through a comparative literature study. By analyzing 47 scientific publications from 2015-2024, this study identifies TQM practices applied by defence industries across various countries, analyzes their impact on organizational performance, and compares their implementation success. The analysis results show that TQM implementation has contributed significantly to improving development process efficiency, reducing production defects by up to 32%, and increasing defence system reliability by 27.5%. This research concludes that implementing TQM in the defence industry requires a specialized approach that considers technological complexity, strict security requirements, and the involvement of various stakeholders. Strategic recommendations are proposed to optimize TQM implementation in supporting national defence industry self-reliance.

Abstract

The development of the domestic defense industry plays a key role in maintaining national sovereignty and the integrity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia in the era of Industrial Revolution 4.0. In this context, complex and dynamic challenges require an integrated approach to strengthen independence in the defense sector. This study highlights the importance of integration between the concept of national defense, defense science and technology in the development of the defense industry. Collaboration between the government, private sector, academic institutions and the military is the key to creating an ecosystem that supports the growth of the domestic defense industry. Greater investment in research and development is needed to produce innovative technologies that can compete globally. Apart from that, regional cooperation is also important in building joint defense capacity and strengthening regional stability. Indonesia needs to establish strategic partnerships with neighboring countries and international partners to support each other in developing the defense industry and maintaining security and peace in the region. By facing challenges with the right solutions, Indonesia has great potential to build an independent and strong domestic defense industry. Through the integration of national defense perspectives, defense science and technology, this country can build a strong national defense foundation and ensure the sovereignty and integrity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia in this increasingly complex and dynamic era. Thus, this research makes an important contribution to the understanding of the domestic defense industry development strategy and its relevance in the context of national security.
