Abstract

This article aims to analyze the effectiveness of using the Khan Academy platform as a support for science learning during the Covid-19 Pandemic to improve students' mastery of online learning skills. Online learning is one of the impacts caused by the spread of Covid-19 in the field of education. This condition causes teachers to use digital technology such as platforms to support the learning process. The integration of Khan Academy in science learning is a breakthrough in delivering learning materials that are in accordance with the applicable curriculum with consideration of material from teachers that is applied online. In this case, the teacher can designate the material according to the mastery of the skills students have. Then students can carry out activities to analyze video tutorials, work on practice questions to do practicum according to the instructions in Khan Academy. Teachers and parents can also monitor and supervise the activities, abilities and mastery of students' material. Based on the literature review, Khan Academy helps in classroom management, practicum activities through video tutorials, and practice questions and activity monitoring as an effective student progress report.

Abstract

Kompetensi peserta didik perlu ditingkatkan pada keterampilan abad ke-21 yaitu kemampuan berpikir. Kemampuan utama yang perlu ditingkatkan ialah berpikir kritis. Hasil observasi di MTs NU 19 Protomulyo menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik belum berkembang. Hal ini diakibatkan kurang tanggapnya peserta didik karena tingkat self efficacy yang kurang baik. Salah satu inovasi untuk memacu berpikir kritis yaitu inovasi model pembelajaran brain based learning (BBL) sebagai alternatif penyampaian materi melalui hands on activity (HOA). Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis keefektifan model BBL melalui HOA untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis dan self efficacy. Jenis penelitian adalah quasi experiment dengan bentuk nanequivalent control group design. Sampel diambil menggunakan teknik simple random sampling didapat kelas VIII B sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas VIII A sebagai kelas kontrol. Pengumpulan data penelitian melalui tes dan lembar observasi peserta didik selama kegiatan pembelajaran. Keefektifan pembelajaran menggunakan model BBL melalui hands on activity dianalisis menggunakan uji paired t-test, dan uji n-gain serta analisis lembar observasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa analisis uji paired t-test didapatkan nilai sig. (0.000) < 0.05 artinya terdapat perbedaan signifikan pada penerapan model BBL melalui HOA. Hasil n-gain kelas ekperimen sebesar 0,4 dengan kriteria sedang, kelas kontrol sebesar 0,05 dengan kriteria rendah. Analisis hasil penilaian lembar observasi self efficacy menyatakan bahwa self efficacy mengalami peningkatan 92% pada pertemuan ketiga, disimpulkan bahwa penerapan model BBL melalui HOA efektif meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis dan self efficacy peserta didik pada materi getaran dan gelombang.
