Abstract

Cholesterol is a type of lipid or fat that is important for body function. Apart from being a source of energy, fat provides the highest number of calories. Cupping is a treatment that consists of four processes, namely suction of the skin and subcutaneous tissue, leaving the glass in a negative pressure position, expelling blood, and precise points. The aim of Community Service (PkM) is to increase cadres' knowledge and provide opportunities for the community to receive cupping therapy to reduce cholesterol levels. The Community Service (PkM) method implemented is training and methods in implementing dry cupping therapy for cholesterol sufferers at the Joint Health Clinic. As a result of this activity, cadres gain knowledge about how to check cholesterol and the community receives cupping therapy. The conclusion is that Community Service (PkM) activities should be sustainable so that they can improve the quality of life of the community.

Abstract

Stroke is a leading cause of disability and long-term dependency in patients, especially in the elderly. In the context of post-stroke recovery, home care plays a crucial role in supporting rehabilitation and improving patients' quality of life. However, families' limited knowledge and skills in caring for stroke patients often pose a major obstacle to the recovery process. This community service activity aims to strengthen the role of families in caring for stroke patients through home care education provided by community nurses. The activity included counseling, practical demonstrations, interactive discussions, and direct support for 20 families of stroke patients in the working area of Community Health Center X. Results showed a significant increase in knowledge, basic care skills, and family confidence after participating in the education. This activity demonstrates the strategic role of community nurses in family empowerment and spearheads the success of community-based home care programs. Sustainability of the program and cross-sectoral involvement are highly recommended to expand its impact.

Abstract

Introduction: Stunting continues to be a significant public health challenge in Indonesia, especially in rural regions where access to integrated child health services is limited. This study presents a novel dual variable analysis focusing on two interrelated risk factors immunization status and low birth weight (LBW) which have rarely been examined simultaneously in a rural Indonesian setting. It aims to explore the association between immunization coverage and low birth weight (LBW) and their influence on stunting prevalence among children aged 37 to 72 months in the jurisdiction of the Polebunging Health Center, Selayar Regency. Methods: Employing a cross sectional design, data were collected from 51 children using anthropometric measurements, immunization records, and birth history documentation. The study used WHO growth standards interpreted through Indonesia’s operational framework (the Maternal and Child Health Book, or KIA Book) Results: Findings revealed that 11.8% of the children had incomplete immunization, while 9.8% had a history of LBW. Statistical analysis demonstrated significant associations between both risk factors and stunting (p < 0.05). Children with incomplete immunization were eight times more likely to be stunted, and those with LBW had twelve times higher odds of experiencing growth faltering. These results align with prior literature highlighting the importance of early preventive interventions in child development Conclusion: This study contributes localized, high resolution evidence on the predictive roles of immunization and LBW in rural child stunting, reinforcing the need for integrated maternal and child health strategies. While the sample size and non-random sampling limit generalizability, the findings offer actionable insights for targeted interventions in similar socio epidemiological contexts. Future longitudinal studies are recommended to validate causal relationships and inform scalable public health policies.
