Abstract

Batik Jlamprang is a cultural heritage from Pekalongan. This batik motif has a round shape and floral ornaments. The motif of batik Jlamprang is similar to the Koch snowflake. Mathematically, batik Jlamprang can be categorized as one of the shapes of fractal geometry. There are many known shapes of fractals, some of which are Koch snowflake and Koch anti-snowflake. The difference between Koch snowflake and Koch anti-snowflake lies in the fractal generation process. Koch anti-snowflake is the opponent of Koch snowflake. The main step of the generation process is done to develop the Koch snowflake and Koch anti-snowflake function formulas, followed by iterations. The making of the batik motif is originally carried out traditionally, which has disadvantages in terms of time and cost. However, this study proposes that the motif of batik Jlamprang can be designed mathematically with the help of Desmos software. This will definitely shorten the production time and reduce production costs. The Desmos software was chosen because it has several advantages, including easy to operate via a mobile phone or a computer. This paper examines the function formulas, iterations, and application of Koch snowflake and Koch anti-snowflake fractal geometry in designing batik Jlamprang assisted by Desmos. The method used was literature review by collecting several relevant sources. The fractal generation process produced the function formulas of Pn (perimeter) and An or Sn (area) which are necessary for designing the batik Jlamprang motif. The visualization process was carried out on Desmos, followed by geometric transformation and cloning to produce the batik Jlamprang motif as desired.

Abstract

This research was conducted to analyze the availability of activity content in curriculum merdeka textbooks of grade VII on plane geometry materials published by the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia. The research method was carried out in a descriptive qualitative manner with the type of textbook content analysis. Mathematical communication indicators are used as the aspect of analysis. The research results obtained are that all activities in this book have been able to support the improvement of students' mathematical communication competence, although there are no special labels or instructions related to mathematical communication indicators embedded in each activity so that the meaning is still implied or based on the opinion of researchers with adjusted theory used in relation to mathematical communication. From the data analysis that has been done, it can be concluded that the content material is good enough based on the percentage category table for the suitability of book activity, which is equal to 39%. Based on the research this books can help students develop their mathematical communication ability  with teacher guidance. However, basically this book provides sufficient activities as an effort to improve students' mathematical communication skills if teachers are able to use this book well as a resource and learning media in the classroom

Abstract

This research aims to analyze research trends related to learning designs to support mathematical communication, look for learning designs that have a significant effect on developing mathematical communication skills, and provide recommendations for research on learning designs to support mathematical communication that have never been carried out. By using bibliometric analysis and literature review methods, the results showed that based on the publication trend of mathematical communication articles in 2013-2023, there was an increase from 2013 - 2019, which means that many researchers are interested in researching learning design (both media and learning models) to help develop abilities. students' mathematical communication. However, there is a fairly stable decreasing trend from 2019 – 2023, which means that from 2019 until this year researchers are starting to become less interested in researching this topic. . Based on the results of the literature review, the learning design that has a significant influence on developing mathematical communication skills is the use of the RME learning model and the recommendation for research on learning designs to support mathematical communication that needs to be carried out is research related to research design, namely DDR.

Abstract

Preliminary observation results highlight the importance of utilizing innovative learning media to stimulate students' creativity in both classroom and home-based learning. One interactive learning medium identified for this purpose is GeoGebra Classroom. This research aims to analyze the effect of using the GeoGebra Classroom on the increment of students’ creativity, the effect of the increment of students’ creativity on students’ learning Results, the effect of GeoGebra Classroom quality on students’ learning Results, and the interactivity between students’ creativity and the quality of GeoGebra Classroom learning media. By analyzing pre- and post-implementation learning processes with GeoGebra Classroom, we collected data on increased student creativity. In conclusion, GeoGebra Classroom effectively fosters increased student creativity. And from the process of analyzing the effect of students’ creativity increments, we get the result that the creativity increments give an effect on the learning result of quadratic function materials. Unfortunately, the quality of the learning media GeoGebra Classroom can’t give an effect on the learning result. The insights gained pave the way for future research efforts to delve deeper into the optimization of interactive learning media to improve educational outcomes in a variety of academic contexts.

Abstract

Identifying Learning Obstacles in Pre-Service Mathematics Teachers' Understanding of Circle Concepts: A Preliminary Study within A Didactical Design Research Framework. Objective: This research aims to identify the types of learning obstacles that pre-service mathematics teachers encounter when solving problems related to circles. Methods: A qualitative research approach with a case study design was employed to obtain in-depth information regarding the learning obstacles faced by pre-service mathematics teachers. This involved administering a written test on circle material and conducting in-depth interviews using an interview guide to explore the participants' responses. Findings: The research was conducted from May 21 to June 14, 2024, at a national university in Java, Indonesia. The participants included 33 pre-service mathematics teachers enrolled in the Flat Analytical Geometry course (2nd semester) who had been exposed to circle material. While almost all 33 participants were able to provide answers, they were not always completely correct. The analysis focused on 8 participants selected for data confirmability through in-depth interviews. The diversity of learning obstacles (LOs) found among these 8 participants was representative of the LOs identified in the test results of all participants. The results indicate that all pre-service mathematics teachers experienced learning obstacles in solving circle-related problems. The study identified all three types of learning obstacles ontogenic, epistemological, and didactical among the participants. In summary, pre-service mathematics teachers face ontogenic, epistemological, and didactical learning obstacles when solving circle problems. Conclusion: The analysis of learning obstacles, which is part of Didactical Design Research (DDR), was conducted in this study. Abstract

Mathematical literacy extends beyond solving equations to applying mathematical concepts in everyday life. This study investigated the development of mathematical literacy and the challenges students face, analyzed through their mathematical dispositions. A qualitative case study methodology was employed, utilizing a PISA-equivalent test, a mathematical disposition questionnaire, and interviews. 40 7th-grade students were classified into high, moderate, and low disposition groups, with a detailed analysis of three representative students from each group. The Results indicated that students with high mathematical dispositions solved problems effectively, students could formulate the mathematical problem, apply mathematical concepts, and interpret real-world outcomes. Conversely, those with moderate and low dispositions struggled to apply relevant concepts and could only identify given information for problem-solving. These challenges are associated with a lack of understanding of fundamental concepts, particularly proportional reasoning. Factors such as motivation, interest, self-confidence, and attitudes toward mathematics significantly influence students' dispositions and their mathematical literacy skills.         Keywords: mathematical literacy, mathematical literacy process, mathematical disposition. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.23960/jpmipa/v25i2.pp893-913

Eksplorasi dilakukan dengan melakukan analisis hasil tes diagnostik kognitif dan nonkognitif, serta memberikan rekomendasi desain pembelajaran yang mampu menunjang pembelajaran lingkaran. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode campuran (mixed method) untuk melihat kesiapan siswa dalam memahami materi lingkaran. Sampel penelitian adalah 34 siswa kelas XII di salah satu SMK negeri di Kota Pekalongan pada tahun ajaran 2023/2024. Hasil tes diagnostik kognitif menunjukkan siswa dalam kategori “cukup baik” dengan rata-rata tingkat kesiapan 48,62%, yang dijabarkan sebagai berikut: (1) 60,3% siswa memahami definisi lingkaran, (2) 54,9% siswa mampu menggambar lingkaran, (3) 44,1% siswa mampu menganalisis garis singgung dengan baik, (4) 54,4% siswa mampu memahami busur, juring, serta temberang lingkaran, dan (5) 29,4% siswa mampu menerapkan konsep lingkaran dalam pemecahan masalah. Hasil tes diagnostik nonkognitif berupa angket terhadap aspirasi siswa menunjukkan bahwa siswa menganggap pelajaran Matematika materi lingkaran sulit dipahami. Dengan demikian, diperlukan perbaikan kualitas pembelajaran melalui peningkatan minat dan motivasi, ice breaking, tutor sebaya, dan pembelajaran berbasis teknologi. Kebutuhan ini menjadi dasar perancangan aktivitas pembelajaran yang mendukung proses pemahaman materi. Rekomendasi desain pembelajaran yang dapat dilakukan guru untuk menunjang pembelajaran lingkaran berupa aktivitas pembelajaran dan model pembelajaran discovery learning.
