Abstract

This research aims to explore the concepts, models, strategies, and factors that influence the implementation of community da'wah from the perspective of Muhammadiyah. Community da'wah is seen as a strategic effort to integrate Islamic values into people's lives through a community-based approach. In Muhammadiyah's perspective, community da'wah is based on the principle of Amar Ma'ruf Nahi Munkar and the spirit of Islam Berkemajuan, which prioritises combining religious values with scientific and technological advances. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method with data obtained through a search for previous studies using Google Scholar and Website Dimensions. Further analysis of relevant authors was carried out with the help of VOSViewer software. The research data was sourced from books and relevant online scientific articles. The results showed that the implementation of Muhammadiyah community da'wah uses cultural, structural, and digital technology approaches. Internal factors, such as ideology, human resources, infrastructure, and da'wah methods, provide a strong foundation for the organisation, while external factors, such as social dynamics, economic challenges, technological developments, and relationships with the government and other organisations, become both opportunities and challenges. A planned and adaptive approach makes Muhammadiyah community da'wah able to answer the needs of modern society and make a significant contribution to people's development.

Abstract

This research aims to explore the development and transformation of Muhammadiyah thought from puritanism to cosmopolitanism. This research uses a qualitative method with a library research model. The source of data for this research is by searching for books and scientific articles in online journals with the help of the Publish or Perish application and Google Scholar. After the data is found, it is filtered and classified according to the theme discussed. Furthermore, the author will present the results of the research in the form of narratives and graphs, making it easier to understand the discussion. The results of this research can be concluded, that Muhammadiyah as a modernist Islamic movement, is rooted in the spirit of puritanism which emphasises the purification of Islamic teachings based on sacred texts and practices of the salaf generation. Over time, the organisation underwent a transformation towards cosmopolitanism, which integrates inclusive, adaptive, and universal values. This shift was influenced by globalisation, the dynamics of science, and contextual needs, which encouraged Muhammadiyah to combine puritanism with tajdid (renewal). Through the concept of Islam Berkemajuan, Muhammadiyah carries the vision of universal humanitarian solidarity, dialogue between civilizations, and active participation in global issues. This transformation reflects a shift from a doctrine-based movement to one that contributes significantly to the welfare of humanity, maintaining relevance at the national level, while expanding its influence on the global stage.

Abstract

Islamic Studies as a growing discipline has an important role in facing contemporary challenges, both in normative and empirical aspects. This article aims to analyse the development and contribution of Islamic Studies in responding to global issues, such as modernity, pluralism, and morality crisis, using a qualitative approach. Searches were conducted on online research platforms, namely Website Dimension and VOSViewer, to map trends and dominant topics in Islamic Studies. Through bibliometric data analysis, this article explores the interaction between historical, sociological, philosophical, and hermeneutical studies in Islamic Studies and its contribution to the integration of science and religion. The results of this study show that Islamic Studies has the capacity to adapt to the dynamics of the times and remain relevant in bridging between Islamic scientific traditions and the challenges of modern life. The findings are expected to provide new insights for further development in the study of Islamic Studies and its role in the transformation of world civilisation.
