Abstract

Kemampuan berbahasa Inggris bagi pelaku usaha pariwisata dan masyarakat di objek pariwisata Pantai Sine, Desa kalibatur, Kecamatan Kalidawir Kabupaten Tulungagung diperlukan untuk mendukung keberlangsungan pariwisata dalam rangka menambah penghasilan keluarga. Tuntutan untuk bisa berkomunikasi dengan menggunakan Basa Inggris semakin besar untuk bisa bangkit dari keadaan yang terpuruk sebagai ekses wabah Covid 19. Selama pandemi covid 19 berlangsung Dampak penutupan lokasi kunjungan selama Pandemi wisatawan para pegadang kuliner, pemandu wisata, sopir boat, motor pantai ATV kehilangan pekerjaan dan pendapatan. Tuntutan mampu menggunakan bahasa Inggris rasional karena objek wisata ini banyak dikunjungi tidak hanya oleh wisatawan domestik tapi juga wisatawan dari beberapa Negara asing. Permasalahan yang dihadapi oleh masyrakat sekitar wisata yaitu ketidak mampuan berbahasa Inggris lisan dalam berinteraksi dengan para pengujung ataupun melakukan promosi melalui medsos dengan menggunakan bahahsa tulis. Hal ini dikarenakan pertama, perbendaharaan kata sangat sedikit, ke dua pengetahuan menggunakan tata bahasa/grammar/structure. Ketiga jarang memperoleh kesempatan untuk mengikuti pelatihan Bahasa Inggris dari dinas terkait dengan pengembangan wisata bidang peningkatan sumber daya manusia. Mereka kesulitan bagaimana memperkenalkan diri, menjajagan dagangan, menyewakan boat, motor pantai ATV, menyapa turis yang menggunakan bahasa Inggris, menunjukan objek yang bisa dinikmati, melakukan promosi budaya dan jual beli dagangannya.Kurangnya perbendaharaan kata serta pengetahuan tatacara membuat phrase, kalimat bahasa Inggris yang belum memadahi untuk bisa membuat kalimat yang bisa di pahami oleh lawan bicara. Situasi tersebut menyebabkan wisatawan asing tidak tertarik berkunjung ke daerah ini sehingga jumlah pengunjungnya berkurang. Merujuk pada permasalahan tersebut dipandang perlu untuk melakukan kegiatan pelatihan /pendampingan masyarakat untuk menambah atau memperkaya penguasaan kosa kata, merangkai kata menjadi ujaran yg bisa menyampaikan pesan atau maksudnya serta membekali ketrampilan mereka menggunakan Bahasa Inggris. Peserta pelatihan adalah Pokdarwis beserta anggotanya,Metode pelaksanaan menggunakan 1) Focus Grup Discussion (FGD), 2) Tutorial 3) latihan. Dua (2). Hasil dari pelatihan menunjukan mayarakat menguasai lebih banyak kosa kata, berkemampuan lebih baik menggunakan Bahasa Inggris dengan tata bahasa yang benar sehingga orang lain bisa memahami yang disampaikan. Penerima program pelatihan, pendampingan meningkat kemampuan Bahasa Inggris tulis/lisan.

Abstract

Abstract The purpose of community service (PKlM) with the format of Millennial Peer Counselor (MPC) through reality counseling at Islamic Boarding School (Pondok Pesantren) Nurul Jannah, Kudus are as follow (1) provides insight into the importance of counseling services and the process of providing assistance to the needy; (2) equip the students of Islamic Boarding School (santri) with Reality counseling skills in finding alternative solutions for the ones who want to consult; (3) generate the peer counselor agents so that students can be referrals to friends. Soon after the program finished Santri has a special ambassador or cadre who will share and work together to solve their daily psychological problems. The results of community service include (a) Santri get insight about communication techniques and counseling that can be provided as peer counselors; (b) Institutions can map psychological problems in order to improve the quality of learning and social in Islamic Boarding School; (c) Through Millenial Peer Counselor, institutions are able to establish special bureaus or special units related to various psychological services aimed at students such as Islamic Counseling Centers, and (d) institutions have a broader opportunity to develop students with additional competencies to millennial peer counselor ambassadors such as Muslim motivator, young instructors, and self-development trainers for fellow students and the environment around the cottage. Abstrak Tujuan pengabdian kepada masyarakat (PKlM) dengan format pendampingan Milenial Peer Counselor (MPC) melalui konseling realitas di Pondok Pesantren Nurul Jannah, Kudus antara lain (1) memberikan wawasan tentang pentingnya layanan konseling dan proses pemberian bantuan kepada yang membutuhkan; (2) membekali santri dengan keterampilan konseling Realitas dalam menemukan alternatif solusi bagi konselinya; (3) mencetak agen-agen konselor sebaya agar para santri dapat menjadi rujukan teman curhat. Hal tersebut sesuai dengan hasil yang didapatkan setelah kegiatan pengabdian dilaksanakan yakni Santri memiliki duta atau kader khusus yang dapat menjadi rujukan mereka dalam menyelesaikan masalah sehari-hari (Daily Problem) terutama yang bersifat psikologis. Hasil pelaksanaan pengabdian kepada masyarakat antara lain (a) Santri memperoleh wawasan tentang teknik komunikasi dan konseling yang dapat menjadi bekal menjadi konselor sebaya; (b) Lembaga dapat melakukan pemetaan terhadap permasalahan psikologis santri demi meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran dan sosial di pesantren; (c) Melalui Millenial Peer Counselor lembaga mampu mendirikan biro khusus atau unit khusus berkaitan dengan berbagai layanan psikologis yang ditujukan untuk santri seperti Pusat Konseling Islam, dan (d) Lembaga mempunyai kesempatan yang lebih luas untuk mengembangkan santri dengan kompetensi tambahan kepada duta konselor sebaya milenial seperti kompetensi motivator muslim, instruktur muda, dan trainer pengembangan diri bagi sesama santri dan lingkungan sekitar pondok.

Abstract

The research is related to the analysis of what the students need when they take the speaking course. The findings can be a useful reference to design the proper teaching materials due to the achievement of teaching goals. The study investigated 1) the difficulties faced by students in mastering speaking, 2) the most helpful speaking activities for improving speaking ability, 3) the topic preferred by students in speaking lesson, 4) the materials needed by students in speaking. Data collection method used the questionnaires distribution. The 32 first-semester students of the English Education Department have participated to response the questionnaire items. Respondents were also interviewed to collect additional information. The research found the difficulties faced by the students using appropriate vocabulary and grammar, expressing ideas and opinions, understanding and responding to questions, pronunciation and intonation maintaining conversation. Role-playing exercises pair conversation, group discussion are the favorite activities in speaking practices. The casual conversations with friends and family seem to be interesting topic for the students. Meanwhile the topics which are familiar with their daily life can be media to prompt their speaking performance. In addition, the speaking areas they like most are giving and replying to compliments, asking people to do things (requesting), offering to do things; thanking people, expressing appreciation & gratitude, replying to thanks, appreciation & gratitude. In the case of linguistic aspects, the students think the pronunciation and intonation practices are very prominent to speak well.

Abstract

This study aims to assess the impact of utilizing the Beelinguapp program on the reading comprehension skills of second semester students in the Faculty of Social and Political Science, specifically in the area of understanding recount texts. This study utilizes a quantitative approach and follows a pre-experimental design with a one-group pre-test-post-test design. The study population consists of students enrolled in the Faculty of Social and Political Science. The sampling technique use random sampling to select a sample of 31 students in the second semester class. Data collection is conducted through the use of pretest and posttest measures. The Shapiro-Wilk normalcy test is employed for doing normality testing. The Wilcoxon Signed Ranks Test is a non-parametric statistical method employed for data analysis in this research. According to the data, the average score in the pretest and posttest increased from 76.87 to 86.97. The normalcy test indicates that the pretest has a significance value of 0.000, whereas the posttest has a significance value of 0.002. The significance value analysis indicates that the dataset obtained from 31 students does not follow a normal distribution, as evidenced by a significance value of less than 0.05. The analysis results from the test statistic output show that the asymp. sig. (2-tailed) value is 0.000 < 0.05. A significance value smaller than 0.05 indicates that there is an average difference that makes Ha accepted and Ho rejected. It can be concluded that there is a significant effect of the Beelinguapp application to enhance the reading comprehension of recount text of eighth-class students at Faculty of Social and Politics Science. The researcher aspires for this study to serve as a research reference for upcoming research.
