Abstract

One of the non-communicable diseases that becomes a major risk factor for cardiovascular disease is hypertension. The prevalence of women with hypertension in Wedi district is 38.9%. This study aims to explore how women who have hypertension use traditional medicine in Wedi District. This type of research is qualitative with a phenomenological approach. The results of this study include: The definition of high blood pressure disorder is when a person has a blood pressure of more than 140 or more than the normal blood pressure of 120, but when checked repeatedly, the blood pressure is not stable. In addition, direct causes of hypertension such as disease, age, and gender. Meanwhile, indirect causes such as food and drinks, body conditions, and psychological disorders. Meanwhile, signs and symptoms of hypertension include physical disorders and psychological disorders. Hypertension may cause organ malfunction, activity disruption, and psychological disorders. Thus, the first aid taken is varied, such as seeking treatment at health care facilities, seeking treatment at health workers, seeking treatment at traditional health workers (Nakestrad), and self-medicating. Furthermore, traditional skills-based therapy can be done, including dry cupping, walking on gravel, self-soothing therapy, etc. Meanwhile, jamu can also be used to maintain blood pressure, such as jamu beras kencur, jamu hipertensi saintifik, etc. They also use some medicinal plants, including kenikir leaves, papaya leaves, etc. It can be concluded that not all women know about hypertension, and their efforts to maintain their blood pressure greatly vary both conventionally, traditional medicine (skills, herbs, and medicinal plants), and self-medicate.

Abstract

Griya Sehat Rumah Cantik Artik, a traditional health care facility in Klaten Regency, offers jamu and traditional skill therapies to enhance physical fitness and address health concerns. This study aimed to explore the application of jamu therapy and traditional skill therapies at Griya Sehat Rumah Cantik Artik. The present study employs a qualitative research approach, characterized by an exploratory study design. In-depth interviews, observations, and documentation studies are utilised as data collection instruments, with a total of four informants participating in the study.  The results of the study showed various types of jamu for fitness improvement. These included dried herbs and tea such as wedang uwuh, butterfly pea, saffron, and roselle; jamu in the form of powder, including moringa powder and zuriat powder; capsule, including moringa capsules, channa B pollen, and buminoxhan; instant jamu, including instant ginger-lemongrass, instant turmeric-tamarind, and others.  In addition, tea formulations were composed of ingredients following B2P2TOOT recipes for hypertension, cholesterol, uric acid, obesity, and ulceration. This kind of tea, including mint tea, wedang uwuh, gempur lemak, and for diabetes. The available traditional skill therapy range encompasses cupping, acupuncture, acupressure, totok wajah, body massage, boreh, scrub, spice bath, ratus Miss V, and ear candle. Consequently, it can be deduced that enhancing physical fitness and well-being can be achieved by implementing jamu and traditional skill therapy.

Abstract

A considerable number of individuals prefer traditional beauty services. Griya Sehat Rumah Cantik Artik is a traditional health service that provides beauty and wellness services. The objective of this study is to investigate the range of beauty services offered at Griya Sehat Rumah Cantik Artik. This study employs a qualitative research design, incorporating an exploratory approach and data collection methods such as in-depth interviews, observational studies, and document analysis. This exploratory research focuses on service description, but it does not measure the extent to which the service is truly effective in achieving its goals (improving skin beauty/health) or how it compares to modern methods. The study’s results indicate that the beauty services offered at Griya Sehat Rumah Cantik Artik include beauty cupping, facials, beauty acupuncture, facial acupressure, and body scrubs. The array of skills used to provide beauty services includes beauty cupping, facial massage, facials, beauty acupuncture, and body scrubs. These services entail meticulous preparation of tools, materials, patients, and therapists, as well as delineating the stages involved in delivering beauty services. Griya Sehat Rumah Cantik Artik offers beauty services designed to help the community, particularly women, enhance their aesthetic appeal and maintain optimal skin health.
