Abstract

SERVICE QUALITY OF QURANIC EDUCATION CENTERS (TPQ) IN THE MODERN ERA: SERVICE QUALITY AT TPQ DAARUT TAUBAH. Service quality is an essential aspect in ensuring the sustainability and effectiveness of da'wah institutions, including Qur'anic education centers (TPQ). This study aims to analyze the service quality of the Daarut Taubah Quranic Education Center (TPQ), located in the former Dolly red-light district of Surabaya, using service quality (SERVQUAL) approach. The SERVQUAL model is employed to evaluate service quality across five dimensions: tangibles, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy. The study adopts a qualitative-descriptive approach, with data collected through Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) involving five TPQ Daarut Taubah students and field observations. The findings reveal that, in general, the services at TPQ Daarut Taubah meet students’ expectations in terms of responsiveness and assurance. However, gaps remain in the dimensions of tangibles, reliability, and empathy. These gaps include issues related to cleanliness and infrastructure, the punctuality of instructors, and a lack of attention to students’ non-academic needs. Despite these shortcomings, the instructors are considered competent, polite, responsive to student concerns, and capable of creating a safe and comfortable learning environment. The study concludes that improvements are needed in the areas where service gaps exist to enhance the overall service quality of TPQ Daarut Taubah.

Abstract

The Balanced Scorecard (BSC) is a contemporary management system widely utilized by both profit and nonprofit organizations to help manage them comprehensively and coherently. Islamic kindergarten institutions are no exception, as they require the BSC tool to be managed more professionally using various relevant perspectives. This study aims to propose an architecture or model of BSC perspectives relevant to the context of Islamic kindergarten institutions, considering that the original BSC perspective architecture is only relevant to business organizational contexts. The research method employed is a qualitative approach using a conceptual paper model. This study finds that for the context of Islamic kindergarten institutions, the relevant BSC perspective model consists of seven perspectives, including financial perspective, customer perspective, curriculum perspective, learning and assessment perspective, administrative perspective, resource perspective, and organizational perspective. The financial perspective is positioned at the top hierarchy, supported by the customer perspective as the financial source. The customer perspective needs to be supported by three perspectives still within the category of goal achievement pathways, namely the curriculum perspective, learning and assessment perspective, and administrative perspective. All perspectives representing goal achievement pathways need to be supported by perspectives reflecting organizational capabilities, namely resource perspective and organizational perspective.

Abstract

Kinerja lembaga pendidikan Al-Quran (LPQ) mutlak diperlukan untuk menumbuhkan jiwa Qurani anak-anak semenjak dini. Balanced scorecard sebagai salah satu sistem manajemen strategis terkini dapat membantu peningkatan kinerja organisasi melalui prinsip-prinsip yang diusung meliputi prinsip komprehensif, koheren, terukur, dan berimbang. Kajian ini merupakan kajian terapan (applied research) yang menggunakan metode kualitatif untuk menghasilkan usulan desain strategi peningkatan kinerja LPQ Miftahul Jannah Surabaya dengan menerapkan konsep balanced scorecard. Adapun usulan yang dihasilkan yaitu, untuk meningkatkan kinerja, LPQ Miftahul Jannah perlu mengadaptasi skema perspektif balanced scorecard yang relevan dengan konteks lembaga. Perspektif yang diusulkan meliputi perspektif santri dan perspektif keuangan sebagai perspektif yang mencerminkan hasil dan berada pada hierarki teratas. Kedua perspektif tersebut perlu ditopang oleh perspektif proses internal dan perspektif kapabilitas lembaga. Selain itu, kajian ini juga menghasilkan usulan peta strategi LPQ Miftahul Jannah yang terdiri dari 8 sasaran strategis yang dilengkapi dengan 9 lag indicator dan 7 inisiatif strategis untuk meningkatkan kinerja lembaga secara menyeluruh.
