Abstract

Diseases associated with bad water have largely reported cases annually leading to deaths, therefore the water quality monitoring become necessary to provide safe water. Traditional monitoring includes manual gathering of samples from different points on the distributed site, and then testing in laboratory. This procedure has proven that it is ineffective because it is laborious, lag time and lacks online results to enhance proactive response to water pollution. Emergence of the Internet of Things (IoT) and step towards the smart life poses the successful using of IoT. This paper presents a water quality monitoring using IoT based ThingSpeak platform that provides analytic tools and visualization using MATLAB programming. The proposed model is used to test water samples using sensor fusion technique such as TDS and Turbidity, and then uploading data online to ThingSpeak platform to monitor and analyze. The system notifies authorities when there are water quality parameters out of a predefined set of normal values. A warning will be notified to user by IFTTT protocol.

Abstract

In this paper, a photovoltaic (PV) fuzzy maximum power point tracking (MPPT) method optimized by the chimp algorithm is presented. The fuzzy logic controller (FLC) of seven triangular membership functions (MFs) is used. The optimization fitness function is composed of transient and steady-state indices under different irradiation and temperature operating conditions. By using MATLAB package, the performance of optimized method is examined and compared with asymmetrical FLC and well-known perturb and observe (P&O) tracking methods at different operating conditions in terms of: transient rising time (tr) and energy yield during 30 s. Moreover, the tracking methods are also compared in terms of the fitness function value. From the comparison of simulation results, a more energy can be harvested by using the proposed optimized tracking method compared to the other methods. Consequently, at the various operating conditions, the proposed method can be used as a more reliable tracking method for PV systems.

Abstract

The automatic modulation classification (AMC) plays an important and necessary role in the truncated wireless signal, which is used in modern communications. The proposed convolution neural network (CNN) for AMC is based on a method of feature expansion by integrating I/Q (time form) with r/Ɵ (polar form) in order to take advantage of two things: first, feature expansion helps to increase features; the second is that converting to polar form helps to increase classification accuracy for higher order modulation due to diversity in polar form. CNN consists of six blocks. Each block contains symmetric and asymmetric filters, as well as max and average pooling filters. This paper uses DeepSig: RadioML which is a dataset of 24 modulation classes. The proposed network has outperformed many recent papers in terms of classification accuracy for 24 modulation types, with a classification accuracy of up to 96.06 at an SNR=20 dB.
