Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the ability performance of FKIP Unimal chemical education students by the using of practicum performance appraisal with self assessment techniques as well as knowing the response of students related to practical performance assessment with self assessment techniques. Self assessment is an assessment of self competence. This study was motivated by the fact that the assessment carried out in practicum activities was still centered on the lecturer and only limited to knowledge that had not been assessed by performance and did not involve students as subjects but only objects of assessment. Type of this study is descriptive qualitative. This study was conducted to describe the findings of the use of performance assessment with self assessment techniques in chemical practicum. The study was carried out at the FKIP Unimal chemical education department for students who took 23 basic chemistry labs. The result was obtained from the instrument of performance appraisal sheets and questionnaire sheets for student responses. Data analysis on the ability of practicum performance and student response of self assessment was analyzed by using percentage techniques. Based on the results of the study showed that the ability of student practicum performance by the assessment of self assessment techniques consisted of very high was about 13.04%; high was about 47.83%; and sufficient was about 39.13%. The student responses to the using of performance appraisal with self assessment techniques showed the results that most students agreed and felt happy with the self-assessment. The conclusion of this study was the students were able to assess performance with self assessment techniques and provide a positive response related to the performance assessment with self assessment techniques.

Abstract

Based on the observation in SMPN 1 Sukamakmur shown that students VIII were not enough understand in learning chemical matter in life, obstacles of students in studying chemistry based on difficulty in understanding the terms in the science of chemistry. This research aims to understand the influence of PBL learning model on students activities, Study results of students and students response against the implementation of PBL learning to the chemicals matter in daily life of class VIII in SMPN 1 Sukamakmur Aceh Besar. The research was apparent experiment (a quasi experiment) by using one group pretest and posttest design. Data collection were techniques used observation technique were multiple choice test shaped and survey. Data observation and response analyzed by using technique percentage, while test results were analyzed by t-test. The result of student learning activity percentage were about 94% with good criteria and the lowest value of 78 % but it is still on the criteria good. Study results students increased afterwards applied PBL learning model of t-test was obtained tcount > ttable was 20,42 > 2,08. Students response were very are interesting in PBL model by the results was of the percentage who answered “yes” was 92,1% and answers “not” was 7,9%.

Abstract

This study was a pre-experimental study through one group pretest-posttest design. The objective of the study was to see whether there was an increase in generic science skills of students with problem-based learning model in the group activities. The subjects were the chemistry students of 2nd semester in Teacher Training and Education Faculty of Unsyiah. The data collection was conducted by using the instruments such as group activity and multiple choice of generic science skill. The data of group activities was processed from the observation scores while the pretest and posttest were processed by using the average of N-Gain. Based on the data analysis, there were significant differences in the pretest and posttest results KGS after the application of PBL teaching model. Referring to the N-Gain, an increase of KGS occured in all indicators. The highest increase was found in indirect observation while the lowest in logic inference. In indirect observation and cause-effect law, the consistent logic framework gained an increase in the medium category.

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has resulted in learning activities having to be carried out online. However, the practicum implementation was hampered due to the unavailability of virtual practicum facilities. The purpose of this study was to develop a virtual lab media for reaction rate material to determine its validity and see student responses to the media being developed. This research is research and development that adapts the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). The trial was carried out on students in the 3rd semester of chemistry education at UIN Ar-Raniry. Data was collected using interview techniques and questionnaires. Interviews were conducted with chemical laboratory assistants and lecturers supporting basic chemistry practicum, product validity questionnaires were assessed by media, material and language experts, as well as student response questionnaires to find out the level of product practicality. The results showed that the developed virtual lab media obtained a validity percentage of 92.47% with very valid criteria. The test results obtained a very good response with a percentage of 86.66% and the results of the reliability test on student responses obtained a Cronbach's Alpha value = 0.910 which was greater than 0.700 meaning the questionnaire proved to be reliable. With very high validity and very good response, this virtual lab media can be used as a medium for basic chemistry practicum on reaction rate materials

Abstract

The development of animated video learning media on colloidal material at SMA Negeri 1 Darul Imarah is motivated by the learning process which has only used printed books, resulting in a lack of interest in learning and the attraction of students to learning chemistry. This study raised the formulation of the problem how to develop animated video learning media on colloid material at SMA Negeri 1 Darul Imarah and how students respond to animated video learning media on colloid material at SMA Negeri 1 Darul Imarah. This type of research is Research and Development (R&D) with the ADDIE stage procedure (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). The data collection instruments used were validation sheets, questionnaire sheets, interviews with students and observations. The research sample was students of SMA Negeri 1 Darul Imarah and the sample was 25 students of class XI IPA 2. The process of developing an animaker-based animation video was based on the results of the analysis carried out by observation and interviews with class XI students of SMA Negeri 1 Darul Imarah. . Based on the analysis results, the animation video is designed as attractively as possible so that students are interested in learning colloidal chemistry, then at the development stage and validation by three expert validators on animaker- based animation videos obtains an average value of 91.73% with the interpretation of "very feasible" , and the implementation of class XI IPA 2 students resulted in the percentage of questionnaire responses being 100% with the "very interesting" criteria. The results obtained from this study based on the validation results are feasible to be used as learning media with a percentage of 91.73% and the results of the student response questionnaire for animated videos are categorized as very interesting with a percentage of 100%. Based on the research that has been done, it can be concluded that the animated video learning media developed at SMA Negeri 1 Darul Imarah is feasible to use, and the students' responses to the animated video learning media are in a very interesting category.

Abstract

Telah dilakukan penelitian tentang Pengaruh Penggunaan Media Animasi pada Materi Larutan Elektrolit dan Nonelektrolit terhadap Kemampuan Berfikir Kritis Siswa Kelas X di SMAN 1 Unggul Seulimeum Aceh Besar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat kemampuan berfikir kritis dan aktivitas belajar siswa setelah menerapkan pembelajaran menggunakan media animasi. Rancangan penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian eksperimen dengan desain kelompok tunggal pretest dan posttest. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas X SMAN 1 Unggul Seulimeum, sedangkan sampel penelitian diambil siswa kelas X-2 berjumlah 20 orang secara purposive sampling. Pengumpulan data menggunakan tes tertulis yang terdiri dari pretest, posttest, LKS, dan lembar observasi kegiatan siswa. Data observasi dianalisis dengan menggunakan teknik persentase sedangkan hasil tes kemampuan berpikir kritis dianalisis dengan menggunakan uji normalitas dan uji-t menggunakan program SPSS20. Persentase aktivitas belajar siswa mencapai rata-rata 85% yang termasuk pada kategori baik sekali dan hasil kemampuan berpikir kritis dari hasil uji-t diperoleh Nilai sig sebesar 0,000 0.05. Berdasarkan penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa  H0 ditolak dan terjadi penerimaan H1, sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh penggunaan media animasi pada materi larutan elektrolit dan non elektrolit terhadap kemampuan berfikir kritis dan aktivitas belajar siswa kelas X di SMAN 1 Unggul Seulimeum Aceh Besar.

Abstract

The development of the Jawi Arabic chemistry module on atomic structure material which was carried out at Dayah Terpadu Al-Muslimun Lhoksukon was motivated by the absence of a chemistry module that uses Indonesian or Jawi Arabic, therefore researchers are interested in developing the Jawi Arabic chemistry module as one of the latest innovations that can increase students' interest in learning. The aim of this research is to determine the feasibility of the product and students' responses to the Arabic Jawi chemistry module being developed. The subjects used were class X science students, the sample was 20 Islamic boarding school students and female students. The research method used is Research and Development (R&D) and uses the Borg and Gall model. Data collection techniques were carried out using interview questionnaires as initial needs analysis, product validation questionnaires, and student response questionnaires. Data analysis of validation results and response questionnaires uses a percentage formula. The results of the validation of the Jawi Arabic Chemistry module reached an average percentage of 87.6% in the "very feasible" category and the student response results reached a percentage of 91.92% in the "very good" category. Based on the research results, it can be concluded that the development of the Jawi Arabic chemistry module on atomic structure material is suitable for use as an additional reading reference in Dayah Terpadu Al-Muslimun Lhoksukon.

Abstract

Scientific literacy skills are essential in the chemistry learning process, especially for prospective chemistry teacher students. Scientific literacy is one of the demands in 21st Century learning. The scientific literacy skills of prospective chemistry teacher students analyzed in this study are the knowledge aspect consisting of 3 sub-aspects, namely content, epistemic, and procedural. The purpose of this study was to determine the initial scientific literacy abilities of prospective chemistry teacher students in the knowledge aspect, especially in 3 sub-aspects, namely content, epistemic, and procedural. This study used a quantitative descriptive method. The sample in this study was 40 students of the Chemistry Education study program who were taken using a purposive sampling technique. The research instrument used was a scientific literacy test. The data collection technique used in this study was through a scientific literacy skills test based on the 2015 PISA Framework, which consisted of 15 questions that were tested on students. The scientific literacy test instrument related to the knowledge aspect was divided into 3 aspects, namely content, epistemic, and procedural, each aspect consisting of 5 questions. The chemical material tested in the science literacy test is acid-base material, because this acid-base material is a chemical material that still contains several abstract material concepts. The data analysis technique used in this study used a percentage formula and interpreted the average score of the test results according to the science literacy scoring guidelines. Based on the results of the study, the scientific literacy aspect of the knowledge of prospective chemistry teachers was divided into three parts, namely the content aspect with a medium category with an average score of 17.19%. In the epistemic aspect, the average score was 12.32% with a low category, and the procedural aspect with an average score of 12.65% with a low category.
