Abstract

Tea is one of kind drink that most be preferred and consumed the tea community around the world, even most common of the community utilized tea as a healthy drink because it contains antioxidants. Antioxidants can protect cells from damage that caused by the unstable molecules. The determination of tea temperature and optimum time were aimed to know how the influence of the caffeine content of antioxidants, tannin and chatecine. In a flood expected to contain low caffeine levels with high polyphenols. The method in this research was an extraction method that analyzed by using UV-Vis a spectrophotometer. The results showed that the lowest caffeine level was at a temperature 70°C for 15 minutes of 0.51 %, the highest levels of tannin was at the brewing temperature 70°C for 5 minutes of 4.783 %, the highest cetacean levels were at the brewing temperature 85°C for 5 minutes of 1.14 %. So that, the optimum condition was obtained at the brewing temperature70°C for 5 minutes, which have antioxidant activity about 56.75%.

Abstract

Indonesia as one of the biggest tuna fish produsers in the world, produce tuna fish bones large enough. Since tuna fish bone contain high calcium it is potentially to be the raw material of hydroxyapatite. Hydroxyapatite are inorganic compounds constituent of bones and teeth has the moleculer formula Ca5(PO4)3OH. Synthesis of hydroxyapatite can be done with precipitation method through tuna fish bone calcination process at the temperature 900°C for 5 hours to obtain calcium compounds in the form of calcium oxide. Calcium wich has been obtained added phosphoric acid 0,6 M with flow rate/rapid 1 mL/minute. Controlled synthesis process parameters are pH 10 of solution. Yield of hydroxyapatite generated after synthesis with of the precipitation time 12 hours are of 91.15%. hydroxyapatite product obtained was analyzed by FTIR(Fourier Transform Infrared) and XRD (X-Ray Diffraction). FTIR analysis indicate the presence of OH groups, PO4 and CO3. Based on the resulting diffraction of XRD analysis, crystallite size obtained each of 211.29 nm structure is hexagonal. Scherrer method was used to obtain crystallite size.

Abstract

Durian’s peel is a waste which usually burned, stacked or disintegrated and can make pollution to the environment. This condition motivates the researcher to produce the value-added product from the durian’s peel, such as activated carbon and as well as it can solve the environmental problems. This research aims to know the influence to use variation of concentration of activator HClwhice produces the optimum adsorption capacity from charcoal active of durian’s peel to the substance color of methanil yellow. Active carbon which is used in this research comes from durian’s peel which granular types with standard -100+40 mesh. Carbon is activated by physics in furnace with 400°C heat during 2 hours and is activated by chemistry with submerged of HCI 1M, 2M, 3M, 4M and 5M during 24 hours. The result of this research shows that optimum concentration in HCI 1M with adsorption capacity from charcoal active of durian’s peel is as large as 0,5350 mg/g. Whereas knowing the influence of activator is used tabulation method by statistically, where we can get FHitung 0,004 is smaller from FTabel 10,127. It explains that H0 is accepted to reject H1. Therefore, it can conclude that there is not significant influence to use variation of concentration of activator HCl to adsorption capacity of charcoal active from durian’s peel in substance methanil yellow.

Abstract

With the use of several plasticizers (orange peel extract, chitosan, and sorbitol), rice straw cellulose has been used to synthesize and characterize bioplastics. This study aims to synthesize and characterize bioplastics from rice straw cellulose with various additions of plasticizers, namely orange-peel extract, chitosan, and sorbitol, each with a certain concentration so that quality improvement can occur. The methods used in this study include testing the tensile strength value, testing the percentage elongation, and testing the percentage of biodegradation. In addition, functional group characterization tests were also carried out using FTIR. The results obtained in this study were the best values for tensile strength and percentage elongation in treatment A, namely 10.2611 MPa and 13.88%. The percentage of biodegradation for 7 days reached 50.58%. Functional group absorptions were found in various plasticizers, namely C-H, O-H, C-O, C-N, and C=C. Based on existing data, bioplastics synthesized using rice straw cellulose in various plasticizers meet JIS (Japan Industrial Standards).

Abstract

Abstract

Croton leaf (Codiaeum variegatum) and kaffir lime peel (Citrus hystrix) are plants that contain secondary metabolite compounds such as saponins and tannins. This research aims to utilize natural ingredients to biodegradable detergent synthesis and determine the quality of the biosurfactant product produced. The detergent composition was made using 5 variations of extract concentration, namely 15%, 30%, 45%, 50% and 55%. Analysis of the quality of detergent products includes organoleptic tests, pH tests, density tests, viscosity tests, foam height and foam stability tests as well as saponin and tannin levels contained therein before and after making the detergent. The detergent quality results obtained met SNI standards, namely pH 5-10, density 1.3 g/cm3, viscosity ranging from 3-20 cP, foam height 3-13 cm and foam stability 66.6% - 92.5%. Total saponin levels increased after making detergent and tannin levels decreased after making detergent. These results proved that croton leaf and kaffir lime peel can be used as raw materials for biodegradable detergent.
