Abstract

The work environment becomes one of the motivations for someone to work. The climate of working environment is very important for a person, especially for medical staffs who actually handle and deal with sick people. Medical officers are required to always be friendly, agile, discipline and polite in front of patients thus the patient feels comfortable and quiet. This study aimed to analysis the relationship between work environment and patients’ safety climate. This study was conducted with questionnaires. Based on the survey results, it was revealed that the hospital environment determines the form of services provided to patients. The working environment has positive relationship to patients’ safety climate. At the hospital, there are latent conditions that may be a risk of accidents that come from heavy work load, management and inadequate supervision, work environment filled with pressure and inadequate communication systems. Work environment contributes greatly because the overall work in providing services to patients requires good teamwork.

Abstract

Fatigue is one of Occupational Health and Safety problems which can cause work accidents. Some factors that can affect fatigue such as work factors (double burden, work shift, work duration, work term and rest duration) individual factors (age, gender, nutritional status, health status and psychological condition) and environmental factors that will impact on decreasing productivity, quality of work and loss of working hours. The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationship between double burden and work fatigue in female lecturers and staffs in health science faculty of UPNVJ. This study was analytic quantitative research with a cross-sectional design. A total of 53 workers were recruited as samples by using a purposive sampling technique. The information was gathered through questionnaires Subjective Self Rating Test from Industrial Fatigue Research Comitte (IFRC) Jepang and questionnaires of double burden. Data were analyzed by using a Chi-Square Test with a confidence level of 0,05. The results of this study indicate that 40 of 53 workers (75,5%) feel high fatigued. Variables associated with fatigue are double burden (p = 0.0001), work term (p = 0.0001) and age (p = 0.022). It is recommended for workers to increase the consumption of water and properly use the time for family as well as possible.Keywords: Fatigue, Double Burden, Female Worker

Abstract

The construction service sector is one of the sectors that has a high risk of both work accidents and occupational diseases, especially during the current Covid-19 pandemic. The implementation of development activities are still carried out by implementing the Covid-19 prevention protocol. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between internal factors (age, nutritional status, and work period) and external factors (length of work and workload) with work fatigue to workers in the Serpong-Cinere Toll Road Development Project. This study used a quantitative analytical method with cross sectional design. The population of this study were 100 workers and sampling in this study using total sampling technique. Chi square test results obtained age was variable with p value 0.031 (p <0.05), workload with p value 0.001 (p <0.05), length of work with p value 0.001 (p <0.05), nutritional status with p value 0.964 (p> 0.05) and working period with p value 0.471 (p> 0.05). The conclusion is that age, workload and length of work are related to work fatigue. Nutritional status and period of work were not related to work fatigue. Suggestion for companies is to evaluate working hours and provide appropriate rest areas in the project area.
