Abstract

There are two objectives of this study. The first is to observe the students’ perception on teaching english vocabulary through Cooperative Learning, and the next objective is  to know students’s ability in mastering vocabularies. The method which used by the researcher is Classroom Action Research with the technique is Think Pair Share (TPS). The objective of this research is also to identify the benefits that the students obtained from that technique. The respondents of the research were seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Cimahi in the school year of 2018/2019. In this research, the researcher implemented the research on two cycles for seven meetings. Each cycle consist four steps. They are planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. In the first cycle, there are four meetings. In first meeting, the researcher gave the pre-test to the students. That is for knowing the student’s ability in the first. Next meeting, the researcher do the first treatment, and second treatment was done in third meeting. So, in the last meeting of cycle 1, the researcher gave the post-test to the students. While, those are three meetings in cycle 2. In the first meeting, the researcher gave the third treatment. This is for continuing the treatment in cycle 1. After that, in the second meeting, the researcher gave the fourth treatment. So, in  the last meeting of cycle 2, the researcher gave the post test for the students.  The results of the study that the teaching english vocabulary through Think Pair Share (TPS) technique could help students’ vocabulary in learning english because they can share the knowledge about English, especially in vocabularies with the other friends. And this technique also can make the enjoyable learning in activity learning in the classroom. Keywords:  Vocabulary, Think Pair Share (TPS), Cooperative Learning

Abstract

This study is aimed to know the scale on the level of anxiety on Foreign Language in general and in reading on EFL learners especially to English department learner of 2015 in IKIP Siliwangi Bandung. The method that is used in this research is descriptive qualitative. The data were gathered using an online form by using a Likert scale questions of FLRAS (Foreign Language Reading Anxiety Scale) and FLCAS (Foreign Language Classroom Anxiety Scales). The data that have been collected were then analyzed using IBM SPSS Statistics 22 that consisted of descriptive statistics (e.g. means, standard deviations, percentages, etc.). The data used to measure the level of FL anxiety in general and in reading. From the results, more than 66% of the EFL learners have a medium-level in FLRAS, and 76% of the participant has a level of mildly anxious in FLCAS toward English as a foreign language.

Abstract

This research aimed to analyze the student teams achievement divisions (STAD) technique of cooperative learning approach to improve writing narrative text. This study was a quantitative method and pre-experimental design in this research,the subject of the study was implemented in RPL 1 class tenth grade students of SMK Mahardhika Batujajar west Bandung in the 2018- 2019 academic years as sample. The data were obtained from several sources including the data analysis of pretestand posttest, then the dataanalysis of descriptive statistics and N-Gain. The results of this reserach that student teams achievement division(STAD) technique is effective in teaching writing narrative text data from classroom observation and students texts show the improvement in students writing skill in writing narrative text. The students write a good narrative text with clear generic structures and can understood the linguistic. It could be seen from the average of posttest results was 78.87 and the data avarege of pretest results in class research was 41.17 the difference score pretest and postest showed the STAD technique can improve students ability writing narrative text.Key Words: Cooperative Learning, STAD, Writing, Narrative text.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to find out the improvement of students’ writing abilityin writing narrativetext through think talk write method.The design of this research is point out in the experimental class design. This research will compare the think talk write method and ordinary teaching model. The students’ would learn how to write narrative text. The population of this research was the tenth grade of SMKPGRI 3 cimahi. Therefore, the advantages of this research to invented the new teaching model to the students’, it was good for students’ development in teaching and learning English with a new model of teaching. This study uses quasi experimental design, Data from this  study collected  through pre-test and post-test, in order to find out some of the results that have increased or decreased, The results show an experimental class with  the TTW (Think Talk Write) method. The pre-test results were supported by highest score and the lowest with the highest, pre-test score of 85 while the lowest score was 52, and the post-test  score was 52 and the  post-test score  with the highest score of 93, and the lowest 70. With the pre-test and post-test researchers could compare the assessment

Abstract

Perspective in education has a role to evaluate the effectiveness of the teaching-learning process. This research was conducted to know the students’ perspective about teaching and learning process of Financial Management in English Institution course whether it effective or not. A sampling method was used to select the representative sample. To collect the data, this research used the questionnaire which showed the students’ perception of Financial Management Course. The result of the study indicated that Financial Management in English Institution course has the positive perspective from students, this is evidenced by the high positive percentage of each statement. According to the result, Financial Management in English Institution course is acceptable by the student, 68.35% students gave the positive perspective to this course even though the material has considerable differences with English education materials, it means that teaching and learning process of Financial Management course was effective. But 31.65% students gave negative perspective, it means that this course need improvement in many aspects and students can get the advantages of this course. Because financial management is also required in managing the finances of an institution including English education institutions, therefore students of English education also need to study this course.i

Abstract

The aims of this research to find deixis and spatial deixis used of song lyrics from King of Dangdut by Rhoma Irama. Descriptive qualitative method used to collect the data. The classified into type of deixis on the own criteria and the findings that the types of deixis like person deixis and spatial deixis used song lyrics of Rhoma irama. From the result, it can be concluded that person deixis and spatial deixis of finding and discussion is found in all song lyrics, personal deixis is the most being founding 81 words that is the word “Aku, Daku, Ku, Kamu, Mu, and Nya, dominate all songs. The position is the spatial deixis 20 words. It can be seen of the result analysis person deixis and spatial deixis can be many found in the six-song lyrics. Keywords:  Person deixis, Spatial deixis, Music

Abstract

ABSTRAKDi era industry 4,0, penggunaan teknologi dalam proses pembelajaran merupakan sebuah kebutuhan. Dari sisi siswa sebagai peserta didik pun, penggunaan teknologi sudah merupakan sebuah gaya hidup (lifestyle) karena karakteristik mereka sebagai digital natives. Selain motivasi peserta didik, metode dan teknik pengajaran yang digunakan oleh guru Bahasa Inggris pun menjadi salah satu faktor penentu keberhasilan belajar. Sayangnya, kemampuan guru Bahasa Inggris untuk menyajikan materi Bahasa Inggris secara menarik dan inovatif, khususnya di tingkat Pendidikan Anak Usia Dini (PAUD) dan Sekolah Dasar (SD) masih sangat kurang. Program pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk mengedukasi guru-guru Bahasa Inggris di Tingkat PAUD dan SD di Kecamatan Jalan Cagak di Kabupaten Subang mengenai salah satu teknik pengajaran Bahasa Inggris dengan melibatkan teknologi, yaitu Digital Storytelling. Ada tiga tahapan yang dilakukan dalam kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat  ini, yaitu: 1) Sesi pengenalan karakter pembelajar Bahasa Inggris usia dini dan pengajaran Bahasa Inggris yang mengintegrasikan 4 skill bahasa (Integrated Skills), 2) Sesi pengenalan materi Digital Storytelling dan 3) Sesi presentasi hasil Digital Storytelling yang dibuat oleh para peserta.Kata Kunci: Digital Storytelling, Anak Usia Dini, Pengajaran Bahasa Inggris ABSTRACTIn the industrial era 4.0, the use of technology in the learning process is a necessity. Even in terms of students as students, the use of technology has become a lifestyle because of their characteristics as digital natives. In addition to the motivation of students, teaching methods and techniques used by English teachers also become one of the determining factors for learning success. Unfortunately, the ability of English teachers to present English material in an interesting and innovative way, especially at the Early Childhood Education (PAUD) and Elementary School (SD) level is still lacking. This community service program aims to educate English teachers at the PAUD and SD level in Jalan Cagak Subdistrict in Subang Regency regarding one of the techniques of teaching English by involving technology, namely Digital Storytelling. There are three stages carried out in this community service activity, namely: 1) Character recognition sessions for early English learners and English teaching that integrate 4 language skills (Integrated Skills), 2) Digital Storytelling material introduction sessions and 3) Presentation sessions Digital Storytelling results made by the participants.Keywords: Digital Storytelling, Early Childhood, English Language Teaching

Abstract

This research focuses only on the use of Sundanese language or Indonesian language. The objective of this research is to find out what the languages that usually used by students from class B3 2016  English Education of IKIP Siliwangi in their daily life (Sundanese language or Indonesian language), the reason students choose the language and use the language. The method that used in this research is descriptive qualitative method. The samples that used in this research were three students from class B3 2016 English Education in IKIP Siliwangi. Instrument that used in this research was interview. The results of this research are two students usually used Sundanese language, but one student usually used Indonesian language. The reason two students choose and use the Sundanese language, because since childhood have been accustomed and more comfortable to use it. The reason one student choose and use Indonesian language, because to be more easily understood by listener and she do not really understand about Sundanese language. Keywords:  Sociolinguistics; Vernacular language; Daily Life

Abstract

Depending on the context, the languages deixis expression is used to indicate who, where, and when. The aims of the studies is to know the type of deixis used in Maroon 5 song lyrics. The method used by the researcher is qualitative. This song was picked by the researcher because it is popular among many people, particularly teens, and is simple to listen to. There are three steps in the data collection process: first, data reduction; second, data display; and third, data verification. Personal, spatial, and temporal deixis are all investigated in this study. The researcher identified 71.42% data in personal deixis, followed by 15.23% data in spatial deixis and 13.35% data in temporal as a consequence of this research.

Abstract

YouTube as an instructive device has been as of late getting a lot of consideration from scientists and educators. The concentrate being referred to consequently researches this peculiarity.
