Abstract

ABSTRACTTécnico Agrícola De Natarbora is one of the State Agricultural School which is located in the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, along with the increasing need for information and technology, the school requires the development of a computer network that can be developed easily and flexibly. Simulation and design of network technology of VLAN in the Técnico Agrícola De Natarbora using packet tracer. Efforts to overcome these problems continue to be undertaken by many parties. One alternative that can be used is an attempt to use technology Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN), with the hope of providing better results compared to LAN. VLAN is a logical function of the switch, which is a special function that is configured to use the software. This function will divide the network into several virtual networks that are physically still connected to the same switch. With this function, the computer network can be made without depending on its physical location, but based on the needs and functions. VLAN can be used to create a flexible network setting by segmenting the department in accordance with company and can only do a broadcast on a particular group without depending on the location of the workstation.  Keywords: LAN, VLAN, network performance.

Abstract

Escóla Técnico Agrícola De Natarbora adalah salah satu Sekolah Pertanian Negeri yang berada di Negara Timor Leste, seiring dengan peningkatan kebutuhan informasi dan teknologi, Sekolah ini membutuhkan pengembangan jaringan komputer yang dapat dikembangkan dengan mudah dan fleksibel. Simulasi dan perancangan jaringan teknologi VLAN di Escóla Técnico Agrícola De Natarbora menggunakan software packet tracer. Upaya – upaya untuk mengatasi permasalahan tersebut terus di lakukan oleh banyak pihak. Salah satu alternatif upaya yang dapat digunakan yaitu dengan pemanfaatan teknologi Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN), dengan harapan akan memberikan hasil yang lebih baik dibandingkan dengan LAN. VLAN dapat digunakan untuk membuat pengaturan jaringan menjadi fleksibel dengan cara membuat segmentasi yang sesuai dengan departemen perusahaan dan dapat hanya melakukan broadcast pada kelompok tertentu tanpa tergantung pada lokasi workstation. VLAN merupakan sebuah fungsi logika dari switch, yaitu sebuah fungsi yang dikonfigurasi khusus menggunakan software. Fungsi ini akan membagi jaringan ke dalam beberapa jaringan virtual yang secara fisik masih terhubung pada switch yang sama. Dengan fungsi ini, jaringan komputer dapat dibuat tanpa tergantung pada lokasi fisiknya, tetapi berdasarkan kebutuhan dan fungsi yang ada
