Abstract

Indonesian people's awareness of the importance of financial literacy is currently still low, especially in the millennial generation who are known to tend to be consumptive and do not have good financial management. In terms of financial planning and management, millennials have the characteristics of not saving/investing much, they prefer to seek experiences through traveling, buying gadgets, and expressing themselves through social media. So that the problems of the next millennial generation that will arise are spending that is greater than income, increasing loans and not being able to have a place to live because of unbalanced income and home mortgage costs. This makes it important to provide guidance on financial planning and management education for the millennial generation as mandated by the government through the Financial Services Authority. In addition, there is a need for an introduction to financial technology (fintech) for the millennial generation, because of the proximity of this generation to technology and practical principles. Fintech is one of the solutions in providing education and understanding of integrated financial products, as well as providing access for millennials to find out which financial planning products suit their needs. The target of this service is students or students of SMK Batam International School class 12 majoring in Accounting and Financial Institutions. This coaching was carried out on Friday and Saturday, February 15-16, 2019 at the Batam International School Vocational School, which is located at Rananta Shopping Complex Blok A No. 5-7 Legenda, Baloi, Batam Centre. The training participants were 18th graders majoring in Accounting and Informatics Engineering. Coaching is provided with methods of providing practical materials, concepts and tricks in preparing good finances, making financial plans/priorities in the future, and getting to know financial technology facilities that are easy to use today. The training participants were very enthusiastic because in addition to the material topics according to their majors, each training session was also provided with interesting games.

Abstract

Desa Sembulang terletak di salah satu pulau yang ada di Batam yaitu pulau Belakang Padang. Belakang Padang ini sendiri secara geografis adalah sebuah kecamatan dari 12 kecamatan yang ada di Batam. Latar belakang Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (PKM) ini diadakan di desa Sembulang karena setelah melakukan survei, observasi, dan wawancara, penduduk desa Sembulang sangat membutuhkan pengetahuan dan informasi tentang sumber dana untuk memulai sebuah usaha. Alasan ini memberikan masukan bagi tim PKM untuk membantu penduduk desa Sembulang dengan cara mengajari mereka tentang apa itu usaha simpan pinjam syariah. Topik ini sangat sesuai dengan latar belakang keyanikanan dan nilai yang mereka anut. Metode PKM ini dilaksanakan dengan melakukan dua kali pertemuan dengan 25 peserta. Pertemuan pertama, tim PKM mengajarkan apa itu koperasi simpan pinjam syariah, manfaatnya, dan cara mengoperasikan. Pada pertemuan kedua, mengadakan praktek koperasi simpan pinjam syariah. Setelah dua kali pertemuan, hasil dari PKM ini sangat memuaskan menurut para peserta pelatihan. Mereka sangat memahami dan menginginkan tindak lanjut dari pelatihan koperasi simpan pinjam syariah kepada aparat desa (lurah).

Abstract

Entrepreneurs are individuals who run businesses or entrepreneurship with the aim of seeking profit or identifying business opportunities and taking the initiative to innovate. The easiest individuals to teach are school children, children who are undergoing formal education at school. It will be much easier to recognize and introduce entrepreneurial characters to school children because they spend their days at school. This PKM activity will combine lecture, discussion and training methods carried out at SMK Permata Harapan 2 Batam and attended by 30 participants. The results of the coaching showed that the obstacles that made the coaching participants never think of becoming an entrepreneur were not having a clear vision, not daring to take risks, having difficulty focusing on goals, not being used to having problem solving skills, and lacking an innovative spirit. After coaching, it was found that the participants had high self-confidence in their abilities and ideas, were open to change, had an innovative and creative spirit to create products, and were able to analyze problems, find solutions.
