Abstract

Abstract: This study is aimed at identifying gender mainstreaming in the hospitality sector, based on position occupancy of males and females in hospitality management. The presence of hotels in an area opens up employment opportunities, especially for people nearby, including men and women that are capable of inputting work at a hotel, in order to meet the proposed requirements. Furthermore, Surakarta City has numerous hotels that exist or are being pioneered, hence, a lot of women work there, facing an increasingly competitive occupation environment, especially based on professionalism. This is expected to increase the establishments’ long term role in the tourism industry, both domestically and in the global markets. This was a qualitative research, where the data were collected through in depth interview, participant observation, and documentaries, and evaluated with qualitative techniques, termed the Havard model gender analysis.  Moreover, the hotels in Surakarta city have shown that women obtain the same position as men in areas of hospitality management.  Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi pengarusutamaan gender di sektor perhotelan, berdasarkan posisi laki-laki dan perempuan dalam manajemen struktural perhotelan. Keberadaan hotel di suatu daerah membuka peluang kerja, terutama bagi masyarakat di sekitarnya, baik yang berjenis kelamin laki-laki maupun perempuan yang memiliki keahlian yang dibutuhkan di bidang perhotelan. Kota Surakarta memiliki banyak hotel yang ada atau sedang dirintis. Pertumbuhan dan perkembangan berbagai   jenis   hotel,   dari   hotel kelas   melati   hingga   hotel   berbintang, di Kota Surakarta sangat pesat. Hal ini sebagai salah bentuk bentuk dukungan terhadap pemerintah dalam mewujudkan Kota Surakarta sebagai kota tujuan wisata dan budaya. Seiring menjamurnya pertumbuhan dan perkembangan hotel di Surakarta, maka angkatan kerja baik untuk pria maupun perempuan pun juga meningkat. Banyak perempuan bekerja di sektor perhotelan dan menghadapi lingkungan pekerjaan yang semakin kompetitif, terutama berdasarkan profesionalisme. Penelitian ini merupakan jenis penelitian kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui wawancara mendalam, observasi partisipan, dan dokumenter, dan analisis data menggunakan analisis gender model Havard.  Hasilnya, hotel-hotel di kota Surakarta telah menunjukkan bahwa wanita memperoleh posisi yang sama dengan pria di bidang manajemen perhotelan.

Abstract

This study is aimed at finding out howBlended Learning model is able to improve students’ speaking skill and finding out students’ response toward the implementation of BlendedLearning in speaking class. Classroom action research wasthe research design of this study. It occupied observation, interview and test as the instruments. In Blended Learning, there were two activities which consist of online learning activities which were done using internet and traditional face to face activities which were done in the class. In online learning, the lecturer delivered materials’ using online sources through a whatsup group which has been made before and it is learned and discussed together before face to face class. While in face to face class, the lecturer restated the topic and materials for the students and let them practice speaking a lot. Blended Learning was able to improve students speaking skill and it was proved that the average score of four speaking components in every cycle was improved. The students also had very good response toward the implementation of Blended Learning that they said Blended Learning made their learning more fun and interactive.

Abstract

The candidates of vocational high school students often experience difficulties in choosing the majors they will take. There are several factors that influence in choosing a major. One of the majors at SMKN 1 Magetan is the hospitality department. This study aims to determine the factors that influence students' interest in choosing a hospitality major at SMKN 1 Magetan. This research used quantitative methods. The sample in this study were 100 students from the hospitality department of class X, XI, and XII. The sample technique used was random sampling. The research instrument used a questionnaire prepared by the researcher with 24 question items obtained from the results of the validity test r results > r table of 0.1654 at n = 100 and the reliability test results obtained 0.778 and 0.898. Of the 24 question items, there was 1 question which was declared invalid with a result r value of 0.109 <0.1654. The results of this study found that the majority of students have chosen the hospitality major because of the influence of friends with a percentage of 59 (59%), 23 (23%) from the web and the rest came from parents' encouragement, self-will and the surrounding environment.

Abstract

Generasi Z merupakan sebuah generasi yang sangat inklusif dan tertarik untuk terlibat dalam berbagai komunitas dengan memanfaatkan teknologi, namun tidak terlalu percaya diri untuk memasuki dunia kerja dan dalam waktu yang lama, meskipun memiliki keterampilan. Gerakan pramuka sebagai lembaga pendidikan non formal berusaha memadukan antara kemampuan softskill dengan hard skill, sehingga generasi Z yang tergabung dalam kegiatan kepramukaan bisa mengembangkan ketrampilan,dan memiliki kepercayaan yang tinggi sehingga persepsi publik bisa terbentuk. Untuk itu, kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini memiliki tujuan umtuk membentuk persepsi publik melalui public speaking melalui 3 V, yakni Visual, Verbal, dan Vokal, dan dalam upaya branding, dilaksanakan dengan penyebaran informasi ke publik secara berkelanjutan melalui media sosial.

Abstract

Needs analysis plays a significant part in the construction of an English language curriculum that is tailored to learning needs. Students' descriptions of their needs, weaknesses, and desires constitute important factors that English teachers must consider before establishing appropriate lesson plans and teaching and learning resources. This study was designed with a descriptive qualitative research model. Data was collected through questionnaires and interviews. This data collection method involved all students from the Politeknik Indonusa Surakarta for Hospitality program in their first semester of Academic Year 2023, with a total of 93 students participated. The questions were provided online using Google form. When completing the questionnaire, respondents are given the choice from a number of different responses. Based to the results of the Needs Analysis on English subject, the main objective of Hospitality Study Program students learning English is to help them develop in their jobs in the service and hospitality industries. Students emphasized the importance of learning speaking skills, despite the fact that other language skills are equally important to improve. Each need to master aspects of English language skills, on the other hand, must be in line with their professional career development. This study has implications for fulfilling learning requirements in the hospitality study program as a guide to developing English teaching materials for students in the program.
