Abstract

Indonesia is a multicultural country, because it consists of various cultures, customs, and a variety of habits. These components are generally bonded together (integrated/embedded) with ethnicity, language, and culture. The use of foreign languages, especially English, in all its forms is related teaching foreign languages in formal and informal education in Indonesia. Even some foreign language has been introduced on early childhood. Seeing this phenomenon, educators must have a knowledge of foreign languages, willingness and skills to introduce and involve all educate into a global context. The introduction and engagement multicultural (cross-cultural disposition) that should be conducted transformative or practical experience (cross-cultural encounter) in learning English language, such as a fairytale. The multicultural approach in English learning by fairytale on early childhood will make the children more tolerant the other cultures.

Abstract

Character education for early childhood is highly recommended it. Early childhood is a golden age for children, that is 0-8 age. Tadzkirah model is a learning character model is derived from the theory of Islamic education. Tadzkirah abbreviation is exemplary, guidance, motivation, honesty, continuity, remind, repetition, organization, heart. Tadzkirah models are applied in teaching English character for early childhood, which is packaged in a game. English game character, such as, singing, storytelling, and games in early childhood provides a positive contribution in the development of childhood character, namely courtesy, responsibility, diligence, respect, sincerity.

Abstract

Asean Economic Community (AEC) is a free market at the level of the countries of Southeast Asia. Free competition in afree market of AEC consists of 12 sectors, namely the 5 sectors of industry service, and 7 sectors in trade and industries. One of the strategic effort to develop competitiveness in the AEC is doing strategic efforts in optimizing education. Strategic efforts in education needs to be done, such as improvements in the areas of education, teachers and curriculum. Mental revolution in the field of education is one of the president’s Jokowi agenda. Mental revolution in education in line AEC program, namely strengthening the field of education, the education of character. The formation of character as well and gives meaning to the improvement of the quality of students’ academic skills, improving the quality of the curriculum, the quality of schools and education.

Abstract

The aim of the research is to find the error of using inflectional affixes in students’ argumentative writing of the fifth semester of English Department of IAIN Metro. This research is descriptive-qualitative research. This descriptive-qualitative research use two sources, primary and secondary data, the primary data is achieved through the argumentative writing text from the fifth students semester of IAIN Metro. Then the secondary data is collected from archival. This research applies Creswell model to analyze the data. The findings research shows there are 9 argumentative writing result, they have eight errors in using {–s}, 2 errors in using {–es}, 1 error in using {–ies}, 13 errors in using {–ed}, 3 errors in using {–ing}, and there is no error in using {–er} and{–est}. Based on the data, the first error that commonly found in students’ writing production is the use of {–ed}, and the second one is the use of {–s}, and the third one is the use of {–es}. Most of the fifth semester students of the English Department of IAIN Metro have lack of knowledge about inflectional affixes and there are many students who feel difficult in deciding which one is the correct affix for the word they want. It means there are many students of the fifth semester of English Department of IAIN Metro that still can not use the inflectional affixes correctly. The conclusion of the research is the student of the fifth semester of English Department of IAIN Metro need attention to focus on writing argumentative learning and semantic specially ‘inflection affixes’.

Abstract

In the process of transferring one message of Source Language (SL) to Target Language (TL) in a translation must be careful by a translator, because one word may have more than one meaning. By knowing the possible meanings of a word, the meanings appropriately should be translated by a translator, and the readers will get the meaning and information of the target text. The equal meaning of source language to the target language is equivalnce, but non-equivalence occurs when the meaning in source language is not translated into the target language. There are many strategies to solve the problems of non-equivalence in Indonesian into English. A translator has a strategy to solve it. These strategies, that is, cultural, loan word, pharaphase, omission, semantically, hyponyms, etc.

Abstract

Tulisan ini membahas tentang islam dan integrasi sosial dalam cerminan masyarakat nusantara. Melalui perspektif agama, Indonesia merupakan bangsa yang beragama Islam terbesar di dunia, tetapi berdasarkan agama, politik dan ideologi, Indonesia bukanlan negara islam. Akan tetapi, Islam di Indonesia tidaklah asli. Ajaran dan nilai-nilai keislaman telah memberikan kontribusi pada pembentukan budaya bangsa. Agama sebagai sistem realitas yang praksis memiliki fleksibilitas, apresiasi, dan properti tradisi dan budaya yang berkembang. Integrasi sosial adalah proses sosial dari anggota masyarakat tertentu terlepas dari keragaman budaya dan keyakinan agama. Mereka sadar akan kewajiban untuk membangun solidaritas berdasarkan hubungan yang kuat dalam membangun bangsa. Dalam interaksi ditunjukkan dengan kontak dan komunikasi satu sama lain. Interaksi yang dapat dilihat dari budaya yang ada di masyarakat dengan akomodasi serta alkulturasi dan kerjasama dalam masyarakat, seperti, penerapan ajaran dan masuknya budaya luar, pembentukan budaya baru dan perpaduan dua budaya.This article discusses the Islamic and social integration in a mirror of society archipelago. Through a religious perspective, Indonesia is a largest muslim nation in the world, but in religion, politics and ideology, Indonesia is not an Islamic state. However, Islam in Indonesia is not genuine. Teachings and values of Islam has greatly contributed to the formation of the nation's culture. Religion as a living reality system that praxis has a flexibility, appreciation and property of the tradition and culture that flourished. Social integration is a social process of a particular member of society regardless of the diversity of cultures and religious beliefs, they are aware of the obligation to build solidarity based on a strong relationship in building the nation. In the interaction indicated with contacts and communications eact other. The interplay that can be seen from the cultures that exist in the community with their accommodation and acculturation and cooperation in society, such as, the inclusion of the teachings and the entry of outside cultures, forming a new culture and a blend of the two cultures.
