Abstract

Abstract

This article is developed based on the previous articles in this journal about municipa solid waste (MSW)or rubbish in municipal which should be well managed to withdraw from negative effect. Based on thesecondary data can be prepared computation model using Powersim as the objective of this article.Application of Powersim is also discussed in this article to develop operation of the simulator. Thesimulation of the municipal solid waste management is the action to replicate the real situation or event toget the effect or appearance system. The results of computation model by Powersim can be simulatedseveral activities of the municipal solid waste such as the environmentalist or the decision maker to carryout clean municipal.

Abstract

Keyword : Shear Tester, Rotational  Shear Tester, Annular Split Level Shear Tester

Abstract

The esterification of levulinic acid to ethyl levulinate presents challenges in catalyst efficiency, reusability, and environmentally friendly process design, restricting commercial scalability.  This study examines recent studies on diverse catalysts, including Deep Eutectic Solvents (DES), homogeneous and heterogeneous systems, and their effects on yield.  DES is positioned as a more sustainable option, with yields as high as 99.8%, quicker reaction times, and a lower environmental effect.  While heterogeneous catalysts require harsher conditions and have reusability difficulties, DES provides a greener and more efficient alternative to produce ethyl levulinate.  Life cycle assessments (LCA) of DES procedures reveal reductions in energy usage and greenhouse gas emissions of up to 69.72%.  Future research should focus on improving DES recovery and scalability for industrial applications.  This effort supports the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), namely SDG 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), and SDG 13 (Climate Action).

Abstract

This study optimized the Ultrasound-Assisted Extraction (UAE) of sappan wood (Caesalpinia sappan L.) using Central Composite Design-Response Surface Methodology (CCD-RSM) and investigated its kinetics. Temperature, solvent-to-solid ratio, and extraction time were selected as independent variables with extract yield as the response. Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) showed that the solvent-to-solid ratio significantly affected yield. Optimal extraction conditions were 69.9°C, 29.9 mL/g, and 20.2 min, producing approximately yield of 0,293 mg GAE/g sample. High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) confirmed the presence of brazilin, while Fourier Transform InfraRed (FTIR) analysis indicated the retention of functional groups. UAE was shown to enhance extraction efficiency and preserve phenolic compounds. Additionally, the extraction process was modeled, resulting in a validated effective diffusivity (De) of 1.8 × 10?? cm²/s, The kinetic study was useful in industrial application especially to determine appropriate extraction time.
