Abstract

Milkfish cultivation in Muna Regency has not yet developed optimally, allegedly due to poor water circulation. Internal solution that can be done is the use of probiotics in water maintenance media. The aim of this study was to determine the effect of adding proiotics to media water with different doses on the growth and survival of milkfish (Chanos chanos Forskal), carried out in May to June 2019 at the Gonangkalo Beach Fish Seed Center (BBIP), Gonebalano, Duruka District, Muna Regency. The study used a complete randomized design (CRD) with three probiotics namely A 10 mL treatment per container, 20 mL treatment B per container and 30 mL C treatment per container. Data were analyzed using Variance Analysis (ANOVA) at 95% confidence level (α 0.05). The results showed that the highest daily growth rate was obtained in Treatment B at 5.84±0.16% per day followed by Treatment A at 5.71±0.23% per day and Treatment C at 5.42±0.10% per day. The highest absolute growth of milkfish was obtained in Treatment B at 8.24±0.28 g per individual and the lowest was in Treatment C at 7.95±0.0.33 g per individual, Continuation in Treatment A and B 83.33±5,77%, while in Treatment C 80.00±10.00%. Analysis of variance (α 0.05) showed that the use of probiotics with different doses significantly affected absolute growth (p>0.011) but did not significantly affect the daily growth rate (p<0.063) and survival (p<0.850) of milkfish

Abstract

Coastal areas and sea have the potential biological resources large enough, because supported by three main ecosystem the ecosystem mangrove, seagrass beds and coral reefs. To maintain the existence of the ecosystem, control in coastal areas need to conducted one of them is inventory damage ecosystem especially ecosystem coral reefs. On the island of Bungkutoko lack or information on the coral reefs ecosystem is the island Barrang Lompo in addition the information and data on the ecosystem.  The purpose of this research is to get data teachers’ marital status and a condition of damage the ecosystem to coral reefs as a second the island. The research results obtained, a covering of coral reef island Bungkutoko depth 5m and 10m namely 36,47% and 41,67% category ‘being’. The island Barrang Lompo station 1 the depth of 5m and 10m namely 38,67% and 42,53% category ‘being’, station 2  covering 23,27% category ‘broken’. To scattery if coral reefs Bungkutoko island 231.31 ha, the Barrang Lompo island 127.47 ha. The level of damage/index mortalities on the island of Bungkutoko depth 5m and 10m namely 0,5593% and 0,6201% category ‘being’. The island Barrang Lompo station 1 depth 5m and 10m namely 0,6011% and 0,5504% category ‘being’, station 2 the level of damage/index mortalities 0,7326% category ‘high’.

Abstract

Analysis of land, its carrying capacity and development strategy of seaweed cultivation in Labakkang, Pangkajene Regency. This study attempts to: (1) analyze the suitability of coastal land that appropriate for seaweed cultivation, (2) determine the carrying capacity of the land for seaweed cultivation, (3) formulate strategies and policies that appropriate for seaweed cultivation. This study used biophysical field survey to assess the region, analyze the suitability of the land as well as the carrying capacity of the area by using a geographic information system. Furthermore, the research analyzed the strategy and policy of development of seaweed cultivation with A'WOT analysis approach. The results of the evaluation of the suitability of land for seaweed cultivation in coastal areas showed that Labakkang has potential approximately 1632.876 ha. The area is suitable for seaweed cultivation activities around 1035.54 ha, and unsuitable area around 597.336 ha. For carrying capacity of seaweed cultivation in the coastal area of Labakkang is for 40.55 units. The priority development strategy of seaweed cultivation is strengthening institutions to make a sustainable seaweed cultivation in Labakkang.

Abstract

Research on an inventory of damage to coastal and marine ecosystems of the Riau Islands was carried out in the waters of the Berakit Village of Bintan Regency and Pulau Pasir Batam City. The purpose of this study was to obtain data on the status and condition of damage to seagrass coastal marine ecosystems and coral reefs in the two locations. The research period is from May to July 2019. The research method uses 'quadrant line transect' and Underwater Photo Transect and GIS analysis. Distribution of seagrass ecosystems 981.65 Ha, coral reefs 4291.73 Ha in Bintan Regency and Batam City. Berakit Beach seagrass cover has an average of 36.55% in the damaged or less rich / unhealthy category, while 71.02% in the Sand Island is in the dense or rich / healthy category. For live coral cover, Berakit Beach is 42.87% of medium condition category, while Pasir Island has an average of 1-2% of damaged condition category.

Abstract

Catfish has various advantages, including fast growth, high adaptability to the environment, delicious taste, and high nutritional content.  As a source of nutrition for reared fish, feed is a factor that plays a very important and decisive role in the success of fish farming.  The research aims to determine the effect of feeding frequency on the growth and survival of sangkuriang catfish larvae (C. gariepinus). The study was conducted from June to July 2020 at the Abelisawa Fish Seed Center (BBI), Sampara District, Konawe Regency, South East Sulawesi Province using a Completely Randomized Design with three frequencies of feeding treatment, namely treatment A feeding twice a day, treatment B feeding 3 times a day and treatment C feeding 4 times a day with 3 replications.  Data were analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) at 95% confidence level (a 0,05).  The results obtained the highest daily growth in treatment B of 3.11 ± 0.04% per day, followed by treatment A of 2.58 ± 0.05% per day and the lowest in treatment C of 2.53 ± 0.03% per day.  The highest absolute growth was obtained in the frequency of feeding 3 times a day at 37.27 ± 0.20 g per individual, followed by 2 times a day at 27.64 ± 0.40 g per individual and the lowest at feeding 4 times a day at 26.51 ± 0.92 g per individual. Survival in all 3 treatments reached 100%.  Analysis of variance (α 0.05) shows that different feeding frequencies significantly affect the daily growth rate (0.05>0.00) and absolute growth (0.05>0.00) sangkuriang catfish larvae (C. gariepinus).
