Abstract

Organizations looking to improve operational efficiency, customer service and innovation begin by embarking on digital transformation journey. Such transformation necessitates a radical shift in the way organizations execute and behave. Communities of Practice (CoPs) are central to this wavy journey towards agility. This paper presents the role of CoP to assist in advancing organizational maturity quality for successful digital transformation, focusing from a social learning perspective. This paper conducted a case study with an employee cooperative of one state-owned enterprise based in Jakarta, Indonesia using literature reviews and semi-structured interviews involving the perspective from managers, IT staffs as well general staff. This paper utilized the Deloitte Digital Maturity Model (DMM) to evaluate digital maturity levels in five areas: Strategy, Culture, Organization, Technology and Customer. Results suggest that CoPs encourage a learning, innovative culture supported by management strong support and flexible structures with digital collaboration tools embedded in this comprehensive structure as well purposeful continuous training. The cooperative's digital maturity is in the initial stages, with five areas identified for improvement in strategy integration, cultural openness, organizational structure, technological adoption, and customer engagement. This research underlines that CoPs play an important role in enabling collaborative learning as well as digital maturity. Future research could elaborate on the long-term consequences of CoP and extend comparisons across various industries as well as consider how emerging technology influences a variety of factors related to effectiveness of CoPs.

Abstract

The complexity and globalisation of food supply chains raises concerns over food safety, authenticity and provenance. Data fragmentation, fraud and lack of transparency mean traditional traceability solutions are often ineffective and diminish consumer confidence. Blockchain technology can solve these limitations as it is decentralized, transparent and immutable. This study shows that blockchain technology has the potential to change the food traceability landscape by allowing food products to be securely and verifiably traced from raw ingredients to consumers. We discuss how such a system can improve openness, immutability, and information integrity. We will discuss the issues of scalability, interoperability, data security and stakeholder collaboration in the food sector in the implementation and adoption of blockchain. Preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses (PRISMA) and design science research (DSR) methods were used to develop a blockchain-based food traceability model, ChickenTrax, from 33 papers from 2020 to 2025. Its goal is to enable real-world deployment within the poultry sector and to improve the knowledge of the advantages and limitations of the use of the blockchain technology for a more robust and reliable food traceability system (FSTS).

Abstract

Advancements in immersive technologies and the metaverse are transforming engineering education. Satellite communication, as a complex and abstract domain, requires innovative approaches to enhance conceptual understanding and learner engagement beyond traditional methods. This study proposes the Silvercoms model, an immersive learning framework tailored for satellite communication systems education, integrating metaverse technology with pedagogical design. The model combines 3D interactive simulations, collaborative virtual environments, and systems-level content delivery, structured using the 6E instructional model and supported by the motivated strategies for learning questionnaire (MSLQ) to address both cognitive and motivational aspects of learning. The system is developed using a systems engineering approach and implemented with Unity3D in a virtual reality (VR) based metaverse environment. The prototype includes modules such as satellite orbit simulation, satellite history, and interactive satellite systems, enabling experiential and concept-driven learning. This study contributes by integrating immersive technology with structured pedagogical frameworks, offering a novel approach to improving learning effectiveness in satellite communication systems education.
