Abstract

This study aims to determine the main causes of changes in the scales that occur. Changes in the scale of the Sasando musical instrument are influenced by mass culture, popular culture and the development of the market industry which has led to the tendency of the people of NTT, especially the city of Kupang to lead to Western lifestyles as if starting to leave local traditions. Values, meanings and social functions of Sasandu Gong are diminished and will even disappear in future generations. The influence of colonialism is assumed to be the cause of the people of Kupang prefer something modern than local wisdom. Some articles, journals, books and even websites often talk about the implementation of local cultural values as a cultural heritage and traditional art which is the identity of the Indonesian people. The author uses the concept of Leela Gandhi and Edward Said in general to discuss efforts to undermine Western hegemony, in which the domination of Western powers over the Eastern world considers the East as weak and full of imagination. The qualitative method is used as an exploratory approach that relies on in-depth data analysis in the form of text obtained from the speakers. The research results are discussed in three (3) stages. First, from the Postcolonial perspective that the change occurred starting from the history of the entry of Christianity into East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) by the Dutch people. Second, musicologically, Sasando Violin experienced the development of scales with several variations made by Mr. Drs. Djony L. K. Theedens. Third, the physicality of the sound of the Sasas Gong changes in shifting functions, values, and meanings that existed before.

Abstract

Masalah penelitian ini adalah pada penerapan dualitas fungsi nyanyian akabeluk. Satu lagu nyanyian akabeluk dapat dinyanyikan dalam dua upacara yang berbeda yaitu acara syukur dan duka. Diketahui bahwa dalam nuansa duka nyanyiannya memiliki nuansa dan irama tersendiri, begitupun dengan nuansa bahagia. Ilmu Bentuk Analisa menjelaskan bahwa, nyanyian dalam nuansa duka mengandung pesan yang berbeda dengan nuansa syukur. Oleh sebab itu, mengapa nyanyian ini dapat digunakan dalam dua nuansa yang berbeda. Apa alasan yang mendasar sehingga nyanyian ini dapat digunakan dalam dua acara. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah : 1) Memahami bentuk penyajian dalam nyanyian akabeluk dalam dualitas nyanyian persahabatan tersebut. 2) Memahami alasan nyanyian Akabeluk dapat dinyanyikan pada dua acara yaitu acara syukur dan acara duka. 3) Memahami dan mengerti prosesi dan nyanyian yang dilakukan dalam acara syukur maupun acara duka. Kajian tentang pelestarian akan kepunahan warisan budaya juga dibahas dalam penelitian ini. Data penelitian diperoleh dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa nyanyian Akabeluk adalah nyanyian yang digunakan dalam dua nuansa yang berbeda. Prosesi nuansa duka terjadi atas “sebuah kesepakatan ritual adat” untuk melantunkan nyanyian tersebut, sedangkan nuansa syukur tidak ada kesepakatan melainkan nyanyian ini langsung dilantunkan. Nyanyian Akabeluk dibagi menjadi dua bagian yaitu “kananuk Rai lia dan “kananuk Ai tahan”. Kananuk Rai lian menceritakan tentang berdirinya tanah ini (nuansa syukur) sedangkan kananuk Ai tahan adalah nyanyian sindirin atau nyanyian kane’us malu (nuansa duka). Makna yang terkandung dalam nyanyian Akabeluk berdasarkan teori semiotika adalah sebagai seruan canda gurau, simbol kebersamaan dan juga sebagai ungkapan kiasan perasaan seseorang.

Abstract

Penelitian ini mengkaji waditra Jungga pada masyarakat Kambera, kabupaten Sumba Timur, Nusa Tenggara, Timur. Etnomusikologi menjadi dasar teoritis dalam penelitian ini. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Jungga merupakan alat musik tradisional asal Sumba Timur yang dimainkan dengan cara dipetik. Jungga di Sumba ada beberapa macam yaitu jungga dua dawai, empat dawai dan enam dawai. Pada jungga enam senar berpola double string ‘setiap dawai rangkap’. Alat musik jungga Sumba Timur pertama kali masuk di daerah Kecamatan Kambera. Jungga merupakan alat musik yang melekat pada budaya Sumba yaitu marapu, sehingga jungga dikultuskan baik dari pembuatannya hingga cara, waktu dan tempat memainkannya. Representasi budaya masyarakat Sumba juga tergambar dalam syair lagu yang diiringi dengan jungga. Salah satu contoh lagu kerja panen Anda Mara ‘jalan yang benar’ menggambarkan budaya asli merapu dalam lagu dan iringan waditra jungga. Komunitas adat pada suku bangsa Sumba yang terdapat di Pulau Sumba yang dikenal dengan kepercayaan Marapu ini tersebar diseluruh wilayah Pulau Sumba.

Abstract

At the beginning of 2020 the Indonesian people were shocked by the outbreak of a new type of virus, namely Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). The impact of the outbreak of this virus is felt by the world of education in Indonesia, especially the City of Kupang. This condition is academically alone in a student in achieving his goals, namely from a physical and psychological perspective. This impact also reported Church Music students at the State Christian Institute (IAKN) Kupang. The purpose of the study was to look empirically about the benefits of listening to classical music for students of IAKN Kupang Church Music in the face of the Covid-19 Pandemic. This study used a qualitative method by taking the subject of 8 Church Music students. Data were collected by interviewing and observing students. The results obtained were that students felt significant benefits from listening to classical music during the pandemic. Listening to classical music can affect the psychological condition of students such as feeling calmer, more comfortable, relaxed and reducing feelings of worry. In addition, it affects the physical condition of students such as heart rate, decreased blood pressure and relaxed tense muscles. The influence of academic classical music is to provide inspiration in assignments given by lecturers, so that students carry out lectures and practice.
