Abstract

A strip story is one of the techniques that could stimulate the students to speak during the learning process especially in speaking class. The aim of this study was to find out the significance difference of students’ speaking achievement after they were taught by using strip story technique. The pre experimental study was the method of the study. The one group pretest-posttest design approach was used in this study. The study was conducted to sixth semester S1 Nursing students at STIK Siti Khadijah Palembang. The population of the study was all fourth semester S1 Nursing students at STIK Siti Khadijah Palembang in 2018. The total number of the population was 69 students. The sample of the study was 22 fourth semester S1 Nursing students at STIK Siti Khadijah Palembang in 2018. Systematic sampling was used to collect the sample. The test was administered twice as pre-test and post-test. The results of the tests were analyzed by using t-test through SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) program. The result of the study showed that there was a significant difference in speaking achievement before and after applying strip story technique based on paired sample t-test. Keywords: speaking, strip story Abstrak Strip story adalah sebuah teknik yang dapat merangsang pelajar untuk berbicara selama proses pembelajaran khususnya dalam kelas Speaking. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mencari perbedaan yang signifikan dalam pencapaian kemampuan berbiacra setelah mereka diajarkan menggunakan teknik strip story. Pre-eksperimental adalah metode dalam penelitian ini. Pendekatan yang digunakan adalah one-group pre-test post-test. Penelitian ini dilakukan terhadap mahasiswa semester 6 program studi S1 Keperawatan diSTIK Siti Khadijah Palembang pada tahun 2018. Jumlah populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah 69 mahasiswa. Sampel dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 22 mahasiswa semester empat program studi S1 Keperawatan STIK Siti Khadijah Palembang tahun 2018. Teknik pengambilan sampel meggunakan teknik sistematik. Tes diberikan dua kali berupa pre-test dan post-test. hasil penelitian dianalisa menggunakan t-test dengan program SPSS. Hasil dari tes menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan dalam pencapaian kemampuan berbicara sebelum dan sesudah diterapkan strip story berdasarkan paired sample t-test.    Kata Kunci: percakapan, cerita acak

Abstract

The aim of this study was to find out the significant difference in speaking achievement before and after the implementation of story completion technique to the 6th-semester students at STIK Siti Khadijah Palembang. The method of the study was a pre-experimental method with one group pre and posttest design approach. The population of the study was the 6th-semester students of S1 Nursing Program. The total number of the population was 90 students in the academic year 2018-2019. The sample of the study was taken by using a systematic random sampling method. The total number of the sample was 30 students. The test was given twice as a pretest and a posttest. The result of the test was analyzed by using t-test through the SPSS program. The result of the study showed that there was a significant difference in speaking achievement before and after the implementation of story completion technique to the 6th-semester students at STIK Siti Khadijah Palembang. It can be concluded that the story completion technique could be an alternative technique in teaching speaking to the students at STIK Siti Khadijah Palembang.

Abstract

Semantic mapping strategy is an effective strategy in helping the students to start their writing. This strategy is applied at the beginning of writing. The aim of this study was to find out the significant difference in writing achievement of the 10th graders at SMA Islam Al-Amalul Khair in the academic year 2020-2021 before and after this strategy was applied. The pre-experimental method was used in this study. The population and sample in this study was all of 10th graders at SMA Al-Amalul Khair Palembang in academic year 2021-2020-2021. The total number of them was 61 students. The test was administered twice as pre-test and post-test. The results of the tests were analyzed by using a t-test through SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) program. The result of the study showed that there was a significant difference in the writing achievement of 10th graders at SMA Al-Amaluul Khair Palembang before and after the semantic mapping strategy was applied.

Abstract

The objective of this study was to find out the significant difference in writing achievement between the 11th grade students SMA Al-Amalul Khair Palembang who were taught by Mind Mapping technique and in that of those who were not. The second objective was to find out the improvement of the 11th grade students’ writing score at SMA Al-Amalul Khair Palembang after they were taught using Mind Mapping technique. The Quasi-experimental method through pretest-posttest non-equivalent control group design was used in this study. The population was all of 11th grade natural science students at SMA Al-Amalul Khair Palembang in academic year 2018/2019. The total number of the population was 52 students in which they were divided into two classes as class 11.1 and 11.2. The sample was taken non-randomly. Class 11.1 was chosen as the experimental group and class 11.2 was chosen as the control group. The total number of the sample in the experimental group was 22 students. The test was administered twice as pretest and posttest. The results of the tests were analyzed by using paired sample t-test and independent sample t-test through SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) program.

Abstract

The objectives of this study were to find out : (1) the significant improvement on the third semester students’ reading comprehension before and after being taught using Think-Pair-Share technique at STIK Siti Khadijah Palembang, South Sumatera, Indonesia; and (2) the significant difference on students’ reading comprehension between the students who were taught by using Think-Pair-Share technique and those who were not. The population of this study was all the third semester students of STIK Siti Khadijah Palembang which consist of 56 students in academic year 2018/2019. The sample of this study was taken by using total sampling. Thus, the total number of the sample was 56 students. The sample was the third semester students at D.III Nursing Study Program (experimental group) which consist of 28 students and the third semester students at S1 Nursing Study Program (control group) which consist of 28 students. The test was given twice to both experimental and control group. True experimental design was used to analyzed the data. To verify the hypotheses, the data used only posttest design to analyzed by using paired sample t-test and independent sample t-test was 0.005 which was lower than 0.05.The result of this study showed that Reading Comprehension by using Think-Pair-Share technique gave significant improvement on the students’ reading comprehension and gave significant difference between students’ who were taught by Think-Pair-Share technique and those who were not.
