Abstract

The low knowledge of mothers about antenatal care causes low participation of mothers in making pregnancy visits. With this knowledge of antenatal care, it is hoped that the mother will be strongly motivated to take care of herself and her pregnancy, so that the mother can pass her pregnancy well and produce healthy babies. Husband's support in antenatal care can be shown by taking his wife to check during pregnancy. The success of antenatal care visits must also be supported by great compliance from pregnant women themselves. The purpose of this research was to determine the relationship between knowledge and husband's support for pregnant women's compliance with antenatal care visits. The sample in this research were all third trimester pregnant women who had their pregnancy checked. The scope of this research is the adherence of pregnant women to antenatal care. The design in this research uses an analytical design with a Cross Sectional approach and the number of samples is 30 people. The results obtained from the chi-square test obtained p = 0.009 <a 0.05, then there is a relationship between knowledge and compliance with pregnant women who perform ANC and p = 0.006 <a 0.05, then there is a relationship between husband's support and compliance with pregnant women who do ANC. Suggestions to midwives can continue to improve counseling, information and education to pregnant women about the importance of doing ANC regularly.

Abstract

Depression is a mood disorder characterized by feelings of sadness, anxiety, guilt, worthlessness, restlessness, sleep disturbances, and thoughts of suicide or harming the baby. Depression is a mental health disorder that has negative impacts and can affect a person’s way of thinking. Data from the World Health Organization (WHO) indicate that the global prevalence of depressive mental disorders is 4.6% among women, which is higher than that among men at 2.6%. Recent data show that approximately 10% of pregnant women worldwide experience depression. In Indonesia, the prevalence of antenatal depression is reported to be 20% among women in the second and third trimesters of pregnancy. Depressive symptoms increase by 16% in the third trimester and may persist up to four weeks and three months postpartum. Central Java Province has a prevalence of emotional mental disorders of 7.7% among 95,460 residents. The aim of this study was to determine mothers’ perceptions of depressive symptoms during pregnancy. This study employed a qualitative research method using a phenomenological approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with mothers selected as research subjects. The interviews aimed to obtain in-depth information regarding mothers’ experiences and perceptions of depressive symptoms during pregnancy. The findings of this study were guided by phenomenological research in midwifery, using video recording tools and in-depth interview guidelines, focusing on cases related to mothers’ perceptions of depressive symptoms during the pregnancy period.

Abstract

Discomfort during the first trimester of pregnancy is commonly experienced by pregnant women due to physiological and hormonal changes such as nausea, vomiting, dizziness, fatigue, and emotional changes. Lack of knowledge regarding pregnancy discomfort may lead to anxiety and improper self-care. Health education is an effort to improve pregnant women’s knowledge, one of which is through leaflet media. This study aimed to determine the effect of health education using leaflet media on the knowledge of first trimester pregnant women regarding pregnancy discomfort. This quantitative study used a pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest-posttest approach. The study was conducted at [research location] during [month–year]. The sample consisted of [number] first trimester pregnant women selected using purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using the Wilcoxon test. The results showed a p-value of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating that health education using leaflet media significantly improved pregnant women’s knowledge. Leaflet media is recommended as an effective educational tool in antenatal care services.
