This study examines the effectiveness of short stories as alternative genre to engage students in listening practice. By employing quantitative approach, pre-experimental design was chosen to test the effect of short stories audio toward listening skills improvement. The participants of the research are first year college students of English Department in an Indonesian university. The phases in garnering the data was started with pre-test, followed by a designed treatment, and ended up with post-test to assess the effect. The result indicates that students' scores have increased after the treatment. The calculation of data with SPSS by considering Wilcoxon Rank Test results that there is improvement which post-test scores are higher than pre-test ones, which is 53.70 > 80.87, and the significance is 0.000 < 0.05. It suggests that short story is significantly effective for engaging students in listening practice and it further positively gives impact on listening skills. Therefore, short story could be an alternative genre used in the classroom as it possibly enthralls students to engage in listening activity.

Pada masa pandemi covid 19 sekarang ini banyak permasalahan yang muncul terutama pada dunia pendidikan. Dimana para guru dan siswa dituntut untuk melaksanakan kegiatan belajar mengajar secara online (Daring), Sehingga menimbulkan problem baru yang muncul ditengah kegiatan belajar mengajar. Pengabdian masyarakat ini dilakukan di SDN Simo, Kedungwaru yang mana target dan sasarannya adalah guru-guru yang ada pada sekolah tersebut, dikarenakan guru-guru di sekolah ini perlu mendapatkan pelatihan tentang media pembelajaran online dimana pada masa pandemi ini para guru dituntut unuk melakukan pembelajaran secara online atau daring kepada para peserta didiknya. Dalam kegiaan pengabdian masyarakat ini, para guru diberikan pelatihan tentang aplikasi pembelajaran online, penjelajasan terkait sistem pembelajaran online yaitu menggunakan aplikasi google classroom dan zoom. karena untuk google classroom sangat mudah digunakan untuk para guru senior yang memmilki keterbatasan dalam penggunaan internet. Dan untuk aplikasi zoom ini sangat dibutuhan untuk melakukan kegiatan tatap muka secara maya, agar guru dan siswa dapat berinteraksi langsung mellalui media internet. Hasil dari kegiatan yang dilakukan selama dua pertemuan yaitu yang pertama para guru merasa sangat senang diarenakan memperoleh ilmu dan pengetahuan terkait pengembangan media pembelajaran daring/online, kedua yaitu para guru mampu mempraktikkan dan mengaplikasikan cara pengguaan google classroom dan zoom pada kegiatan belajar mengajar. Ketiga, media pembelajaran semakin berkembag dan inovatif sehingga suasana kegiatan belajar tidak menjenuhkan, membuat siswa semakin semangat belajar di rumah.

English learner has to master four skills namely listening, speaking, reading and writing. Writing is considered as the important skill in linguistic. The students write the idea based on their mind in the written form. The students of the first semester have many difficulties in writing English. They do not know the pattern of the sentence properly. They do not master vocabulary and grammar. The important thing is English grammar which is very hard to be mastered by the students. The teacher should apply the appropriate method in conducting teaching and learning process in writing skill. Chain Sentences learning model is also a learning model that can be used Lecturer to change the atmosphere of learning in the classroom with more fun, so that students feel more interested. Because in this Chain Sentences learning model, this activity should be done in groups where when the first person has listened to the lecturers' sentence then, make a sentence from the last word of the first sentence becomes the first word of the second sentence, as well as the second student and so on. Based on the students’ score on preliminary study, it is shown that the students’ writing needed improvement caused their scores were low. There were 59,52% of 25 students who passed the writing test. The success of this class was less than 80%. The result could not achieve the criteria of success. It means that the students’ writing before the implementation of the strategy is quite weak. To improve the students’ writing, the researcher did this classroom action research. From first cycle, it is known that amount of the students who passed the vocabulary test increased. The result of the study on this cycle was 36 students passed the writing test. 82.71% of the students were successful and it had achieved the criteria of success. It means that the students’ writing skill improved after the strategy

Rather, it is targeted at the students learning and analyzing the whole text, at how it is constructed to achieve its purpose (Carrell, 1996: 26)The design of this research is a classroom action research with cycle model since this research is planned to improve the students’ Reading Comprehension at the second semester of Universitas Bhinneka PGRI using Story Impression. Action research is a form of collective self-reflective enquiry undertaken by participants in social situations in order to improve the rationality and justice of their own social or educational practices, as well as their understanding of those practices and the situations in which the practices are carried out (Carr and Kemmis 1988: 5-6 in Smith, 2007). According to the result of Test Cycle I was done in cycle I, it was found that the students who could reach the passing grade were 21 students (84%) and 4 students (16%) were failed. The criteria of success which had been determined was 80% of the students and the standard value was 80. So, the action in cycle 1 was successful.The suggestion for the students by using Story Impression, the students can know much Reading Comprehension and it makes students more active in teaching and learning process, for English lecturer should use Story Impression as alternative way in teaching Reading Comprehension and for future researcher as the reference to make a further research.

Extensive Reading (ER) is considered as a good learning technique to enhance every skill in language learning. It is considered to assist the improvement of other skills of language learners especially English as a Foreign Language (EFL) leaners. This study is designed to evaluate the effectiveness of ER on EFL learners’ writing performance and to identify the EFL learners’ attitude towards the effects of ER on writing performance. The study recruited a group of 59 non-English majors at a Bhinneka PGRI University. The participants were divided into two groups, i.e., experimental group and control group. The participants in the experimental group were assigned extensive reading materials as their homework to support their learning of writing meanwhile the participants in the control group were guided to write without the support of extensive reading materials. To check the differences of the participants’ writing ability before and after the intervention, pre-test and post-test were employed. A questionnaire was also delivered to the experimental group after the treatment. The results from the tests revealed that ER supported EFL learners in their writing performance. The experimental group had more significant enhancement. The results obtained from the questionnaire also indicated that the EFL learners had positive attitudes towards the use of extensive reading materials provided in their writing learning process.

Seorang dosen memliki kewajiban melaksanakan tri dharma perguruan tinggi, Salah satunya adalah kegiatan Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat. Kegiatan pengabdian masyarakat adalah salah satu wujud kepedulian teerhadap pengembangan serta kemajan masyarakat yang ada di wilayah kabupaten Tulungagung. Pasca masa pandemi covid sekarang ini banyak permasalahan yang muncul terutama pada duia pendidikan. Dimana para guru dan peserta didik dituntut supaya mengejar ketinggalan atau kekurangan keefektifan yang terjadi selama pandemic, sehingga diperlukan metode-metode yang menarik sehingga dapat meningkatkan keefektifan belajar dengan cepat. Pengabdian masyarakat ini dilakukan di Desa Jeli, Kecamatan Karangrejo . Target dan sasaran pada pengabdian masyaraakat kali ini adalah para Guru SDN 1 Jeli di Desa Jeli kecamatan Karangrejo yang akan meningkatkan kemampuan mengajar melalui pembelajaran interaktif dan kooperatif. Dengan pemberian pelatihan dan Pendampingan ini diharapkan para siswa dapat memahami berbagai media pembelajaran interaktif dan kooperatif guna meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran sehingga para peserta didik tidak mengalami kejenuhan selama kegiatan belajar.

Berdasarkan survey yang dilakukan oleh Tim Pengabdian Masyarakat UBHI, Tim menemukan bahwa anak-anak di SDN 1 Blimbing masih mengalami kesulitan dalam belajar bahasa Inggris. Hal tersebut terjadi karena kurangnya media pembelajaran bahasa Inggris yang bersifat edukatif dan mudah untuk diciptakan. Selain itu, perbedaan kelas antar anak dalam tersebut juga menjadi beban tersendiri bagi guru untuk melakukan inovasi pembelajaran bahasa Inggris yang bersifat menyenangkan tetapi tetap mengandung unsur edukatif bagi anak. Keterbatasan segala bentuk fasilitas belajar dan pembelajaran dalam lingkungan SD juga menjadi alasan terkendalanya terciptanya suasana belajar yang kondusif, menyenangkan dan edukatif. Tim pengabdian Masyarakat memberikan solusi atas permasalahan tersebut berupa pelatihan membuat crafting atau kerajinan tangan dan storytelling sebagai media edukasi belajar bahasa Inggris yang menarik, baik dari segi tampilan dan juga menarik perhatian dan minat anak untuk belajar. The material available at the university must adapt to the needs of the job market. From the case English for banking became one of the courses in the English study program at Bhinneka PGRI University. This course is held so that students know about banking which includes currency exchange rates in various countries, how to serve customers, words that are often used in banks, etc. the students experience difficulties in this study, especially in determining foreign currency exchange rates. The design of this research is a classroom action research with cycle model since this research is planned to improve the students’ English for Banking Material at the fifth semester of Universitas Bhinneka PGRI using Currency Converter Plus Application. Action research is a form of collective self-reflective enquiry undertaken by participants in social situations in order to improve the rationality and justice of their own social or educational practices, as well as their understanding of those practices and the situations in which the practices are carried out (Carr and Kemmis 1988: 5-6 in Smith, 2007). According to the result of Test Cycle I done in cycle I, it was found that the students who could reach the passing grade were 15 students (83%) and 3 students (17%) were failed. The criteria of success which had been determined was 80% of the students pass the passing grade and the standard value was 80. So, the action in cycle 1 was successful. The suggestion for the students by using Currency Converter Plus Application, the students can know much English For Banking Material and it makes students more active in teaching and learning process, for English lecturer should use Currency Converter Plus Application as alternative way in teaching English For Banking Material and for future researcher as the reference to make a further research.

Pengabdian masyarakat ini dilakukan di SDN 4 Bungur,Desa Bungur, Kecamatan Karangrejo . Target dan sasaran pada pengabdian masyarakat kali ini adalah para Guru dan siswa SDN 4 Bungur kecamatan Karangrejo yang akan meningkatkan kemampuan mengajar melalui penguatan Literasi dan Numerasi. Pandemi COVID-19 berpengaruh pada berbagai sektor kehidupan, termasuk dunia pendidikan yang menyebabkan siswa mengalami “ketertinggalan literasi” (literacy loss) dan “ketertinggalan pembelajaran” (learning loss).Dalam pengabdian masyarakat yang akan dilakukan ini, menggunakan metode Pelatihan dan pendampingan yang akan di ikuti oleh para Guru SDN 4 Bungur, serta sosialisasi terhadap siswa SDN 4 Bungur. Dimana dalam pelatihan tersebut akan terbagi menjadi 2 tahap, yang pertama akan dilakukan penjelasan tentang literasi dan numerasi Sekolah Dasar dan selanjutnya dengan per individu diberikan pendampingan dan pembimbingan untuk mempraktikkan pembelajaran terkait literasi dan numerasi. Kegiatan pelatihan dan pedampingan terlaksana sesuai dengan tujuan dan rencana, Pada program ini mendapat sambutan yang baik dari Ibu Kepala Sekolah dan para guru SDN 4 Bungur, Kegiatan ini memberikan tambahan pengetahuan terkait Metode dan Media pembelajaran dalam penguatan literasi dan numerasi bagi guru SDN 4 Bungur, Dalam Proses kegiatan belajar mengajar para guru akan selalu menggunakan metode dan Media pembelajaran yang inovatif sehingga siswa dapat belajar secara maksimal
