Abstract

The human respiratory system functions to obtain oxygen from the environment and expel carbon dioxide through the lungs. One common respiratory disorder is bronchial asthma, which can obstruct the airways. A non-pharmacological intervention for asthma patients is the Buteyko breathing technique. This study aims to analyze nursing care through the application of the Buteyko breathing technique in a patient diagnosed with bronchial asthma. A descriptive case study approach was used with one respondent and a literature review. Based on the assessment of Mr. H, the primary nursing problem identified was ineffective breathing pattern. The intervention, based on Evidence-Based Practice, involved performing the Buteyko breathing technique once a day for 15-20 minutes over 3 consecutive days. Results showed improvement: the respiratory rate decreased from 25 breaths/min to 21 breaths/min, oxygen saturation increased from 92% to 96%, and symptoms such as nasal flaring, chest retractions, and use of accessory muscles resolved. Nursing evaluation indicated the problem was resolved, evidenced by the improvement in the breathing pattern. In conclusion, the Buteyko breathing technique positively affects ineffective breathing patterns in Mr. H. It is recommended that the Buteyko breathing technique be considered as a non-pharmacological intervention for patients with bronchial asthma.

Abstract

Mental health is a condition in which individuals can develop physically, mentally, spiritually, and socially so that they are able to realise their potential, overcome stress, work productively, and contribute to society. This research was conducted at the Nur Ilahie Assanie Mental Rehabilitation Clinic Samarang, Garut Regency. The purpose of this study was to gain more real experience in carrying out the process of mental nursing care with hallucinatory sensory perception disorders focusing on improving the client's perceptual power and the client can relate to reality which includes assessment, diagnosis formulation, planning, implementation and evaluation. This case shows a holistic approach (biopsychosocial-spiritual) is effective in dealing with cases of hallucinations in bipolar disorder. Structured and sustainable nursing interventions are proven to reduce hallucination symptoms. In addition, the role of family has a significant influence in the long-term rehabilitation process. On the other hand, medication compliance is also a key factor in controlling symptoms and preventing relapse. Thus, a combination of medical therapy, family support, and a comprehensive approach from healthcare professionals is essential in the management of bipolar disorders with hallucinatory symptoms.

Abstract

Family independence in managing hypertension is a key factor in achieving optimal quality of life. This study aims to improve the independence of Mrs I's family in Garut Regency through a family-based nursing process approach. The method used is a descriptive case study with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, documentation studies, and physical examinations. The results of the assessment showed that Mrs I's family was included in the Family Independence I (KM I) category, where they were aware of the problem of hypertension but did not understand the proper treatment. Nursing interventions focused on health education, medication management, and psychosocial support with a local cultural approach. Evaluation showed an increase in family independence to KM III, characterised by the family's ability to take preventive and promotive actions independently, such as routine control, low salt diet, and medication adherence. This study concludes that a contextualised family-based nursing approach involving active participation of family members is effective in improving the independence of hypertension management. The implication is that nurses need to master therapeutic communication and culture-based interventions to optimise community nursing practice

Abstract

A Caesarean section is a medical procedure in which a baby is born through an incision in the abdominal wall and the wall of the uterus. This procedure is performed when the fetus weighs over 500 grams, and the uterus is in a condition that makes a vaginal birth difficult or dangerous. Post Caesarean section, patients often experience physical and physiological impacts, such as pain. The incision in the stomach and uterus for delivering the baby and placenta causes pain, which can be superficial and can result in the disconnection of fiber nerves and pressure from stitching. A case study was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of the Benson relaxation technique in reducing pain in patients post Caesarean section. The descriptive method was used with a case study approach. The results showed a decline in pain scale after the Benson relaxation technique was applied 2-3 times a day for three consecutive days. Before the technique was applied, the patient's pain scale was 6 out of a range of 0-10 (medium pain), but after the technique was applied for three days, the patient's pain reduced to a scale of 3 out of a range of 0-10 (light pain). This means that the Benson relaxation technique has been empirically proven to be an effective non-pharmacological treatment for reducing pain in patients post Caesarean section. It can be used as one of the non-pharmacological nursing interventions to overcome pain in patients post Caesarean section.

Abstract

This case study on patients with auditory hallucinations was taken as this scientific research, because hallucinations are a symptom that is often found in people with mental disorders, especially schizophrenia. The purpose of making this scientific paper is to gain knowledge, skills, insights and real experience in providing comprehensive nursing care. The method used by the author is a descriptive method through case studies with data collection and observation techniques. The subject of the study is schizophrenia with auditory hallucination nursing problems which are carried out starting from the assessment, diagnosis, intervention, implementation, and evaluation stages. Hallucinations are a condition that describes the presence of a wrong sensory perception, which may affect one of the five senses. Nursing care was carried out for 5 days (April 26 - May 1). The author found two problems experienced by the patient, namely sensory perception disorder: auditory hallucinations and self-concept disorder: low self-esteem. However, the focus or main goal of providing this nursing care is to improve the patient's perception, and the patient can relate to reality. The author also carried out nursing actions using the principles of therapeutic communication, motivating the patient to control her hallucinations. The author evaluated the nursing implementation so that we obtained data that the patient was able to control her hallucinations even with the support of the nurse.
