Abstract

This article discusses the style (uslūb) of Arabic in all aspects of linguistic in the Qur'an, it countais phonology, morphology, syntax and semantics. The presence of all these styles makes it more fascinating and always interesting to be studied and researched by scientists who love Arabic language and literature. This research, wants to prove that Arabic as an al-Qur'an language is unmatched in the world, and the highest value as the unifying language of the people. Becaused the position of the Arabic language is not only neat and beautifully structured in the grammatical, but also in each words and sentences to have an artifact that exceeds poetry, prose and even the poems, especially before the Qur'an was revealed. So, to be completed perfect understanding to the Qur’an have to understand his languange wisodm (uslūb al-hakīm) very well. Moreover, the position of balāgha as a peak study of Arabic becomes very important.

Abstract

This article examines the circulation, transnationality, and contribution of Tuhfah al-Mursalah in Aceh, which played a significant role in the development of Sufism and the Islamization of Indonesia in the 17th century. This research adopts a descriptive-analytical library research method with a qualitative approach. This approach was chosen to explore the dissemination and contribution of Tuhfah al-Mursalah to the advancement of Muslims and intellectual and spiritual development in Indonesia. Indirectly, this research also uses a historical study approach. The findings in this study indicate that the teachings of the seven grades of being (martabat tujuh) have been known by Syamsuddin al-Sumtrani and the Acehnese since the year 1601. Historical indications show that the work has played a significant role in shaping the tradition of Sufism in the archipelago. The process of adaptation and contextualization of Tuhfah al-Mursalah in Aceh shows complex translocal dynamics. The existence of Sufism teachings simultaneously contributed to the emergence of local traditions, such as “adat bak po teumeureuhom, hukom bak syiah kuala” showing the relationship between adat and sharia law. This phrase shows how the Acehnese were able to combine local traditions with the Islamic faith, so that adat and Islamic law were considered as two sides of the same coin, rather than two different things. This process involved linguistic and cultural translation, in which the ideas of the book were adapted to local understandings and contexts. Acehnese scholars also reinterpreted its contents using terms and analogies relevant to local traditions and culture. The presence and teachings of the book also drew comments and criticism from several scholars. Nuruddin ar-Raniri was the most vocal critic of the book's teachings. He considered the teachings of Martabat Tujuh al-Sumatrani as heretical and heterodox.

Abstract

This study examines the Tafsīr Al-Qur'an Al-Karīm authored by the Binjai’s Ulama Tiga Serangkai, Abdul Halim Hasan, Zainal Arifin Abbas, and Abdurrahim Haitami, within the framework of belief systems, cultural integration, and socio-political dynamics in Indonesia. Employing a critical hermeneutic approach and historical discourse analysis, the research investigates how this tafsīr not only interprets sacred texts but also functions as a medium for fostering socio-political consciousness among Muslims. The primary data source is the tafsīr text itself, supported by secondary literature on Qur’anic exegesis in Indonesia and historical studies of the period in which the work emerged. Findings reveal that the tafsīr combines tafsīr bi al-ma’thūr and tafsīr bi al-ra’y methodologies, with a strong emphasis on themes such as jihād, Islamic leadership, and the unity of the ummah. The work illustrates the adaptability of Islamic teachings within diverse social contexts and reflects a critical stance against colonialism and Western cultural hegemony. It also advocates for ethical Muslim leadership. This tafsīr remains pertinent to contemporary Islamic discourse in Indonesia, particularly in areas concerning social justice, political reform, and the interface between Islam Nusantara and transnational Islam. By situating text within context, this work exemplifies how tafsīr can serve both as spiritual guidance and as a vehicle for social transformation.
