Abstract

Kata Kunci : Supervisi, Kepatuhan, Asesmen Risiko Jatuh Background: Patient falls is the most alarming incident in the hospital because they can result in the patient's injury even death. Abstract

Nurses’ performance plays a vital role in ensuring the quality of healthcare services provided to patients. However, in Indonesia, nurses’ performance remains relatively low, which is partly attributed to inadequate levels of work motivation. Work motivation itself is shaped by several factors, one of the most influential being self-efficacy, defined as an individual’s confidence in their ability to perform tasks effectively. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between self-efficacy and work motivation among inpatient nurses at Banjarmasin Islamic Hospital. A quantitative correlational design with a cross-sectional approach was used. The study population included all 75 inpatient nurses, with 63 participants selected through quota sampling. Data collection employed two instruments: a self-efficacy questionnaire adapted from Basari’s research and a work motivation questionnaire developed by Mubarok. The collected data were analyzed using the Spearman rank correlation test with a 0.05 significance level. Findings revealed that most nurses (76.2%) had moderate levels of self-efficacy, while the majority also reported moderate levels of work motivation (55.6%). Statistical testing indicated a correlation coefficient (r) of 0.510 and a significance value (p = 0.001), demonstrating a moderate, positive, and statistically significant relationship between self-efficacy and work motivation. These results suggest that the stronger a nurse’s belief in their competence, the greater their motivation to perform work-related tasks. The study concludes that self-efficacy is a critical determinant of work motivation among inpatient nurses, highlighting the need for hospital management to implement strategies that strengthen nurses’ confidence and abilities. Interventions such as training, mentoring, and continuous professional development are recommended to enhance self-efficacy, which in turn can improve work motivation and overall performance, thereby contributing to higher-quality healthcare delivery.

Abstract

Nurses are essential healthcare providers who work in shift systems that may lead to work stress and affect job satisfaction. Poorly managed shift work can have negative impacts on nurses’ physical and psychological well-being as well as their performance. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between shift work and work stress with nurses’ job satisfaction at Islamic Hospital Banjarmasin. This study employed a quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 60 inpatient nurses selected using stratifed random sampling. Data were collected using questionnaires and analyzed with the Spearman Rank correlation test. The results showed a significant relationship between shift work and nurses’ job satisfaction (p = 0.000; r = 0.661), and a significant relationship between work stress and job satisfaction (p = 0.000; r = 0.760). Nurses working evening and night shifts, as well as those with higher levels of work-related stress, tend to have lower job satisfaction. The study concludes that shift work and work stress are strongly related to nurses’ job satisfaction. It is recommended that hospital management implement fair shift scheduling, effective work stress management, and organizational support to improve nurses’ job satisfaction and enhance the quality of nursing care

Abstract

Patient falls are a patient safety issue that can cause serious injury or death; therefore, nurses’ adherence to the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for fall-risk prevention must be maintained consistently. To analyze the association of age, workload, and nurses’ attitudes with nurses’ compliance with fall-risk prevention in Nilam Wards 1 2 at Dr. H. Moch. Ansari Saleh General Hospital, Banjarmasin. A quantitative analytic cross-sectional study involving 41 nurses (total sampling) conducted on 13–16 January 2026. Data were collected using a biodata sheet and modified questionnaires on compliance (Putrina, 2019), workload (Subagya, 2016), and attitude (Fajrin, 2024) with validity reliability testing. Univariate (frequency percentage) and bivariate (Spearman) analyses were performed. Most respondents were adults (82.9%), reported light workload (92.7%), had positive attitudes (90.2%), and were compliant with the fall-prevention SOP (87.8%). Spearman test showed no significant association between age and compliance (p=0.291; r=0.169), while workload was significantly associated with compliance but with a weak correlation (p=0.040; r=0.317), and attitude was significantly associated with compliance but with a weak correlation (p=0.027; r=0.225). Nurses’ compliance is associated with work conditions (workload) and individual factors (attitude); thus, sustaining compliance should focus on proactive SOP integration into daily workflow, audit–feedback, and strengthening a patient-safety culture not only after fall incidents.
