Abstract

Critical thinking is a careful and calculated thinking activity using complex reasoning. The purpose of this study is to describe the students' ability to think critically in solving problems based on gender. The research subjects were two second semester students of Mathematics Education Program Universitas Pendidikan Mandalika. The instruments were a mathematics problem-solving sheet and interview guidelines. Data were analyzed qualitatively by three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and concluding. The results of the study found that the two subjects could bring up the five indicators of critical thinking. The male student was better in providing analytical analysis on the further explanation of the solution given, and the female student was better providing a complete, clear and detailed explanation so that it takes a longer time. However, the two students could not accurately draw conclusions and analysis. It is recommended that the lecturer provides various questions with different levels so that students are accustomed to thinking critically and they, later, as teachers also can train students' critical thinking.

Abstract

Pengabdian masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan keterampilan mahasiswa dalam mengoperasikan Microsoft Excel. Adapun subjek dalam pengabdian ini adalah mahasiswa calon guru tingkat akhir Fakultas Sains, Teknik dan Terapan (FSTT), Universitas Pendidikan Mandalika. Metode pengabdian yang dilakukan adalah dalam bentuk pelatihan, yang mana terdapat dua tahap yang dilakukan dalam pengabdian, yaitu tahap persiapan tahapan yang mengidentifikasi permasalahan apa yang muncul pada subjek serta tahap pelaksanaan tahapan pemberian materi kepada subjek, baik itu secara ceramah ataupun praktik langsung. Hasil dari pengabdian kepada mayarakat ini menyatakan bahwa awal dari pertemuan mahasiswa memilki beberapa kendala dalam menginput rumus karena adanya sedikit perbedaan antara Microsoft Word dan Excel. Akan tetapi, setelah dibimbing oleh tim pengabdi, mahasiswa kendala tersebut berhasil diminimalisir sampai pada akhirnya mahasiswa mampu menggunakan rumus, mencetak grafik atau diagram dan menjalankan sintaks vlookup dan hlookup. Jadi, dapat dikatakan bahwa pengabdian ini berjalan sesuai target dari tim pengabdi.

Abstract

The economic condition of the parents and their level of education are the determining factors for the level of education of the children. The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors affecting the level of education of children (socioeconomic status of parents and parents' latest education). The subjects in this study were 100 people of Sayang-Sayang Village who were determined by simple random sampling technique. Data collection was carried out online using a survey sheet or questionnaire developed with the help of Google Form. The method in analyzing this causal relationship uses ordinal logistic regression analysis. The results showed that the ordinal logistic regression analysis provided two logit models, in which socioeconomic status had a significant effect on the child's education level, while the parents' last education level did not have a significant effect on the child's education level. The first logit model is a logit model that explains the causal relationship between socioeconomic status and the last level of education of high-category children, while the second model is for the middle category level. Research is expected to be one of the references both in the use of ordinal logistic regression and in observing the factors that affect the level of children's education.
