Abstract

Critical thinking is a careful and calculated thinking activity using complex reasoning. The purpose of this study is to describe the students' ability to think critically in solving problems based on gender. The research subjects were two second semester students of Mathematics Education Program Universitas Pendidikan Mandalika. The instruments were a mathematics problem-solving sheet and interview guidelines. Data were analyzed qualitatively by three stages: data reduction, data presentation, and concluding. The results of the study found that the two subjects could bring up the five indicators of critical thinking. The male student was better in providing analytical analysis on the further explanation of the solution given, and the female student was better providing a complete, clear and detailed explanation so that it takes a longer time. However, the two students could not accurately draw conclusions and analysis. It is recommended that the lecturer provides various questions with different levels so that students are accustomed to thinking critically and they, later, as teachers also can train students' critical thinking.

Abstract

The development of an increasingly modern era, resulting in changes in people's lifestyles that change, so that the consumptive pattern of society is increasing. Thus, researchers conducted a study on this subject which aims to analyze the factors that influence the consumptive lifestyle of students by using ordinal logistic regression analysis. The focus of the factors observed was regional origin and the number of online shop accounts. Data collection was carried out using an online Google survey form sheet from Mandalika University Education students in one faculty of 100 people. The results showed that the influencing factor significantly came from the variable number of online shop accounts

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menggambarkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah siswa SMAN 1 Lembar dalam menyelesaikan soal statistika berstandar UN berdasarkan tahapan Polya. Jenis penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif deskriptif dengan melibatkan 6 siswa kelas XI IPA yang dipilih berdasarkan saran dari guru dan kemampuan awal matematika dengan kategori, yaitu: (1) siswa dengan kategori kemampuan awal matematika rendah, (2) siswa dengan kategori kemampuan awal matematika sedang, dan (3) siswa dengan kategori kemampuan awal matematika tinggi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa siswa dengan kategori kemampuan awal matematika rendah tidak mampu menyelesaikan soal statistika. Siswa dengan kategori kemampuan awal matematika sedang dan siswa pada kategori kemampuan awal matematika tinggi mampu menyelesaiakan soal statistika. Namun, siswa merasa sulit menyelesaikan soal dalam bentuk histogram.

Abstract

The economic condition of the parents and their level of education are the determining factors for the level of education of the children. The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors affecting the level of education of children (socioeconomic status of parents and parents' latest education). The subjects in this study were 100 people of Sayang-Sayang Village who were determined by simple random sampling technique. Data collection was carried out online using a survey sheet or questionnaire developed with the help of Google Form. The method in analyzing this causal relationship uses ordinal logistic regression analysis. The results showed that the ordinal logistic regression analysis provided two logit models, in which socioeconomic status had a significant effect on the child's education level, while the parents' last education level did not have a significant effect on the child's education level. The first logit model is a logit model that explains the causal relationship between socioeconomic status and the last level of education of high-category children, while the second model is for the middle category level. Research is expected to be one of the references both in the use of ordinal logistic regression and in observing the factors that affect the level of children's education.

Abstract

Beberapa literatur dan penelitian terdahulu menyatakan bahwa masih ada kelemahan dalam menggunakan matematika di kelas sains. Pada saat mahasiswa mengalami kegagalan dalam memecahkan masalah fisika yang melibatkan keterampilan matematika, seringkali kita dihadapkan pada pertanyaan apakah kegagalan tersebut disebabkan karena lemahnya kemampuan matematika dasar atau kurangnya penguasaan konsep fisika itu sendiri. Penelitian ini merupakan suatu deskriptif kuantitatif yang melibatkan mahasiswa tingkat satu yang melaksanakan perkuliahan matematika dasar dan fisika umum. Kemampuan matematika dasar mahasiswa dianalisis menurut tiga aspek penilaian; mathematical-procedural skils, conceptual understanding, dan algorithmic problem-solving. Tes pilihan ganda digunakan sebagai alat pengumpul data primer, sedangkan lembar jawaban tertulis digunakan untuk mendapatkan deksripsi seperti apa argumentasi mahasiswa dan bagaimana cara mereka memecahkan masalah. Skor tes dianalisis menggunakan metode statistik deskriptif untuk membandingkan kemampuan mahasiswa pada tiga aspek tersebut. Hasil akhir dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa memiliki kemampuan yang lebih baik pada mathematical-procedural skils dan algorithmic problem-solving dibandingkan pada conceptual understanding.

Abstract

[English]: Culture is believed to be one of the factors that influence mathematical learning. It supports the idea of ​​culturally responsive mathematics education. This qualitative study aimed to investigate students’ spatial abilities and the possible linkages of cultural differences (parenting) with the abilities. Data were collected through questionnaires, initial ability tests, spatial ability tests, and interviews. The study began with the identification of the students’ culture from two different rural areas, namely Lalar Liang (LL) and Labu Lalar (LB), using a questionnaire, and a preliminary test was administered for the classification of students' mathematical abilities. Furthermore, six students were selected as subjects from the two cultures based on the high, medium, and low groups to be given a spatial reasoning test. In the last stage, the selected subjects were interviewed to identify the possible relationship between their culture and spatial ability. The students’ answers were analyzed according to the indicators of spatial ability and linked to the culture of students from the two areas. The findings show that students from LL have a better understanding of the dimensions of objects from various sides and the changes of the object shapes after rotating than from LB. The results of the interview indicated that there was a possible relation of parenting on students' thought patterns in solving mathematics problems. However, this needs to be proven by further empirical studies. Keywords: Spatial abilities, Cultural differences, Parenting, Mathematical learning [Bahasa]: Kultur dipercaya menjadi salah satu faktor yang mempengaruhi pembelajaran matematika. Hal tersebut mendukung berkembangnya ide pendidikan matematika responsif kultur. Penelitian kualitatif ini bertujuan menginvestigasi kemampuan spasial siswa dan kemungkinan keterkaitan perbedaan kultur (pola asuh) dengan kemampuan spasial siswa. Data penelitian diperoleh melalui angket, tes kemampuan awal, tes kemampuan spasial, dan wawancara. Penelitian dimulai dengan identifikasi kultur siswa yang berasal dari dua desa berbeda, yaitu desa Lalar Liang (LL) dan Labu Lalar (LB), melalui angket dan pemberian tes awal untuk klasifikasi kemampuan siswa. Selanjutnya, enam siswa dipilih sebagai subjek dari dua kultur berdasarkan kelompok tinggi, sedang dan rendah untuk diberikan tes penalaran spasial. Pada tahap terakhir, subyek terpilih diwawancarai untuk mengidentifikasi kemungkinan hubungan kultur dengan kemampuan spasial. Hasil tes siswa dianalisis sesuai dengan indikator kemampuan spasial dan dikaitkan dengan pola asuh siswa dari dua desa tersebut. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa yang berasal dari desa LL lebih mampu memahami dimensi bangun dari berbagai sisi dan perubahan bentuk benda setelah dirotasi, dibandingkan pada siswa yang berasal dari LB. Hasil wawancara mengindikasikan adanya pengaruh pola asuh terhadap pola pikir siswa dalam menyelesaikan masalah matematika. Tetapi, hal ini perlu dibuktikan melalui kajian yang lebih mendalam secara empiris. Kata kunci: Kemampuan spasial, Perbedaan budaya, Pola asuh, Pembelajaran matematika

Abstract

Abstract One of the requirements that must be done in developing a textbook is a readability test. Readability is all the elements in the textbook that affect the success of the reader in understanding the material he reads at an optimal reading speed. The readability test aims to determine whether the use of sentences/language, presentation of material, layout, and interaction between texts in textbooks can be used by students to understand the materials in it. It is important to do a readability test to minimize errors that can cause misunderstandings between the author's intent and the reader's understanding. The readability test in this study was carried out through a survey method by distributing questionnaires to 15 students of the physics education study program who were taking basic mathematics courses. The results showed that the level of readability of basic mathematics textbooks for physics was at high criteria in the aspect of convenience (67.5%), attractiveness (65.5%), and understanding (67.5%). Although the readability test showed a high score, there are several things that still need to be improved, namely the appearance of the textbook (book cover and illustrations) and the writing style that must be made more varied and able to attract the interest of the reader. Abstrak Salah satu persyaratan yang harus dilakukan dalam pengembangan suatu buku ajar adalah uji keterbacaan. Keterbacaan adalah seluruh unsur yang ada dalam buku ajar yang berpengaruh terhadap keberhasilan pembaca dalam memahami materi yang dibacanya pada kecepatan membaca yang optimal. Uji keterbacaan bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah penggunaan kalimat/bahasa, penyajian materi, tata letak dan interaksi antarteks dalam buku ajar dapat digunakan mahasiswa untuk memahami materi-materi yang ada di dalamnya. Uji keterbacaan penting dilakukan untuk meminimalisasi kesalahan yang dapat menyebabkan kesalahpahaman antara maksud penulis dengan pemahaman pembaca. Uji keterbacaan dalam penelitian ini dilakukan melalui metode survei dengan membagikan kuesioner kepada 15 mahasiswa program studi pendidikan fisika yang sedang menempuh mata kuliah matematika dasar. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat keterbacaan buku ajar matematika dasar untuk fisika berada pada kriteria tinggi pada aspek kemudahan (67,5%), aspek kemenarikan (65,5%) dan aspek keterpahaman (67,5%). Walaupun uji keterbacaan menunjukkan nilai yang tinggi, namun ada beberapa hal yang masih perlu ditingkatkan lagi kualitasnya yaitu tampilan buku ajar (cover dan ilustrasi) dan gaya tulisan yang harus dibuat lebih variatif dan mampu menarik minat pembaca.

Abstract

This community service activity aims to increase the knowledge and competence of the Patuh Angen agricultural group through NFT hydroponic training. This training was applied to the Patuh Angen’s Farming Group located in the South Marong Jamaq neighborhood, Karang Baru Village, Selaparang District, Mataram City. The training was carried out using agricultural extension methods and agricultural process assistance methods starting from socializing the objectives, explaining the material, monitoring the planting process, harvesting plants, to reflecting on all the processes carried out. The results of this community service activity show that the agricultural group is able to practice NFT hydroponics and produce vegetables with good quality.
