Abstract

This research aims to find out the influence of the ethanol extracts of avocado leaves against larvae mortality of Aedes aegypti. This research was carried out in July 2014 until June 2015. The method usedis Complete Random design experiment method consists of seven treatments and four replicates.Concentrations of ethanol extract of the leaves of the avocado are 1000 ppm, 2000 ppm, 3000 and 4000 ppm,ppm 5000 ppm. Analysis of the influence of the ethanol extracts of avocado leaves against mortality of larvae is performed with ANOVA test, while the LC50 is performed with probit test. ANOVA test results of Aedesaegypti larvae mortality obtained a value of Fcount = 1597.72 Ftable(0.05) = 2.57 and Culex quinquefasciatus larvae mortality retrieved the value Fhitung = 1127.19 Ftabel(0.05) = 2.57. The result of LC50 analyzes at 72 hours observation showed the concentration of ethanol extract of avocado leaves that can kill 50% Aedes aegyptilarvae is 732,84 ppm and Culex quinquefasciatus larvae is 961,75 ppm. The conclusion obtained is the administering of ethanol extracts of avocado leaves significantly affect the mortality of the larvae of Aedesaegypti and Culex quinquefasciatus, thus it is potential to be used as natural larvicide. Keywords: Larvicide, Avocado leaves, Aedes aegypti and Culex quinquefasciatus

Abstract

This study was designed to determine the comparative creativity of learners who follow PjBL in the environment around with students who follow PjBL in the classroom. The study was conducted from May 2016 to May 2017. The study used a descriptive approach with experimental research type. Design in research is simple factorial design 2x2. The sample of the study amounted to 121 students. The instrument of research in the form of observation sheet of creativity of learners. Data were analyzed by the non-parametric statistical test of Mann Whitney U at a significant level of 0.05. The results showed that the creativity of students Z = 9.179 and Z = 7.563 which means the value of Z ˃ Z-table =1,96 means that the application of PjBL model in the class and in the environment has a significant effect on the creativity of the students. It can conclude that students who follow PjBL in the environment show significantly better creativity than students who follow PjBL in the classroom.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the improvement of learning outcomes, students' science process skills, and relationships with science process skills learned through Project Based Learning model of the material of biodiversity in SMA N 1 Peukan Bada. This research was conducted on August 14 to September 7, 2016. The method used is a quasi-experimental method with pretest-posttest control group design. Thepopulation in this study were all high school students in grade 1 Peukan Bada XMIA amounted to 83 students in two classes, namely samples X MIA grade 2 as the experimental class numbered 20 students and 3 X MIAclass as control class numbered 20 students. This research instrument uses test and skill observation skill of science process. Analysis of the test data using independent sample t-test with SPSS 20.0 for windows atsignificant level of 0.05 for the difference in learning outcomes in the control class and experimental class.Scientific process skills are analyzed by percentage, relationship of learning result and science process skill using correlation formula. The results showed that (1) the results of student learning has increased significantly (t hit. 9.362 t tab. 2,021) at the significant level of 5% (ɑ = 0.05). The conclusion in this research is learning by using PjBL model can improve student learning outcomes in SMA N 1 Peukan Bada Aceh Besar District. Keywords: Model Project Based Learning, Learning Outcomes and Biodiversity.

Abstract

Research on Differences in Mercury Content in Barbodes schiiwanenfeldi and Osteochillus hasselti in Geumpang River, Geumpang Subdistrict and Mane Subdistrict Pidie Regency was conducted on October 11, 2016 to November 1, 2016. The objectives of the study were to analyze differences in mercury content in muscle tissue of Barbodes schiiwanenfeldi and Osteochillus hasselti that lives in the Geumpang River of Pidie Regency. The method used in mercury analysis is Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometry (AAS). The results showed the average of total mercury content in Barbodes schiiwanenfeldi muscle tissue taken from Geumpang River at three observation stations was 0.0022 ppm, and the average of total mercury content in muscle tissue of Barbodes schiiwanenfeldi was 0.0007 ppm. The conclusion of this research is the average of mercury content in muscle tissue of Barbodes schiiwanenfeldi and Osteochillus hasselti fishes which were taken from Geumpang River are still on the recommended limit and there are differences of mercury content in the muscle tissue of Barbodes schiiwanenfeldi and Osteochillus hasselti in the area of Geumpang River of Pidie Regency. Keywords: Barbodes schiiwanenfeldi, Osteochillus hasselti, Geumpang River and Mercury.

Abstract

Small-clawed otter (Aonyx cinereus) is the smallest among the sub-family Lutrinae, today occurs population decrease of small-clawed otter caused by human activity, depletion of prey species, and exploitation. This research is done to learn physically and biologically of the habitat characteristic of small-clawed otter. Retrieval of data was held on 1-14 in April 2014. The parameters which used are the amount of tracks found in habitat that is used by the small-clawed otter in Ujong Nga village. The data is collected on small-clawed otter habitat in Ujong Nga and sample used are plot with measure of 30x30m and then  divided into 8 plots. The result showed that the small-clawed otter selecting habitat unit with criteria (a) the type of habitat are field, swamp, thatch forest, and riverside; (b) the availabilty of many feed (1,33 tracks per plot), rare (0,33 tracks per plot), less (0,17 tracks per plot); (c) the tracks distance to the nest 0-25 m (1,66 tracks per plot), 25-50 m (1 tracks per plot), 50 m (0,5 tracks per plot); (d) the tracks distance to water source 0-25 m (2,16 tracks per plot), 25-50 m (0,5 tracks per plot), and for distance to 50 m track is not found; and(e) the tracks distance to toilet site0-25 m (1,16 tracks per plot), 25-50 m (0,5 tracks per plot), and 50 m (0,17 tracks per plot). The conclusion of this research habitat characteristic ofAonyx cinereusare fieldwithavailability of many feed, close to water source, clost to nest, and close to toilet site.
